SPY HACK: Unlock Hotel Door Latch Lock (break in hotel room from outside)

  • These folding locks are different from unlocking sliding chain locks on doors (which you may find the hack to unlock hotel chain locks elsewhere on TH-cam using a simple rubberband.
    The awesome thing about this is all you need are two things: the keycard and a do-not-disturb placard.

    This actually just came in super clutch for me and a coworker. The latch was loose and easy to engage. We stepped out for dinner and when we got back. Room was locked from the inside. Hotel staff and maintenance both as confused as us. A quick YT search and you have helped get us back into our room thank you.

    No need for the key card. I work in a hotel that does not use key cards but has these latches. I just use a shoestring when a guest needs assistance. Drop it over the top of the latch, fish the drooping end back into your hand to form a loop (you may or may not need a pen or something to do that depending on how slender your fingers are), and then (with both ends of the string in hand) close the door and pull on the string. It will close the latch and the door can then be opened.

    Thank you so much for this video. Somehow, when I left at 2 am today to go to work, the stupid “clean stay” sticker they put on the doors at the Hilton now because of Covid, got in the door when it closed this morning. Then when I came back at 9:30 tonight (yes 19.5 hour work day) I opened my door and it pulled the latch in front of the door 🤬 tried a coat hanger and didn’t work. Figured maybe there was something on TH-cam. Your video was EXACTLY what I needed! Piece of cake! Being locked out of my room was not what I wanted to deal with after a long day at work.

    Doesn't work with the Auto Deadbolt on most decent hotel entry doors.

  • @MrZeek1519
    @MrZeek1519 ปีที่แล้ว

    Unfortunately that only works if you have a key card to open the door and access the door latch. Otherwise you'll be trying to slip the "Do Not Disturb" sign past the door jamb's door stop, and that's not happening. Its easier to pull the Do Not Disturb sign against the 90 degree door stop than it is to push it around the right angle of the door stop with the door closed.

    • @727Rays
