Someone needs to give Robben an Honorary PhD. He's the Blues Buddha.

I've been watching lessons about solos/licks/phrases and such since forever, and this is by far the best lesson ever. Simple and effective approach to a solo, not just a "look at me playing lesson".

Roben I had the pleasure of seeing you at the Mystic Theater in Petaluma California. You did an instrumental- which you usually don't. You had as totally entranced.
When you finished the room was absolutely quiet. And you leaned over and said into the microphone
"Was I so good I left you speechless?" We all started screaming and clapping because you were that good. It wasn't that we had forgotten our manners. You were so good you left the audience speechless. Thank you.
It's also very nice of you to share your knowledge and coach us.
    Thank you twice.

Man Robben is such a wise and humble soul, I learn so much watching these videos. He has a way of communicating his knowledge in a way that walks besides you and never speaks down or above your level.

Hello, I must say, you are the combination of all arts. When you're talking' about music, or when you're playing', is like flying among many landscapes built of emotions and energy. Thank you Robben for what I saw and discover.

Robben is a man who is not afraid to be himself, the mark of a true Man. It is the guys who have to be 'tough' and act all Macho at every turn that are truly 'Gay'. One of the best Guitar men of our times. Aint we lucky having a lesson from him!

It's not about what he says but the way he says it. He have the gift to make the dificult stuff look plain and simple. Last year i attendent his lecture and he explained the basic music theory in 20 minutes in such inspiring and easy way. A great guy with a decent sense of humor. I don't know if he is a guru, but he speaks as one :D Just listen to his voice and calm tai chi movements :)))

Great video about phrasing. Call and Response heard right back to the Field Hollers. Polarization - that's about as natural a phenomenon as you can get. Everything natural is in 2's and 3's.Space and matter, Root and Fifth (2/3), Major and Minor, Loud and Soft, Fast and Slow. The third line is the one you draw between the extremes. This is the dominant factor.

This guy is awesome, and I have heard much of his stuff; needless to say, I am blown away! I bought a book with backing tracks, including Robben's work. In the book, 'Ship, Captain, Crew' certainly caught my attention. The style Robben has and uses, along with the sound he implements into it is out of this world to me! I certainly want to see what I can learn from this guy.

This is gold. The word "seduce"...that resonated with me. That's key. A player really needs to seduce listeners...draw them in. Build it. Light and shade as Page might say.

    • @polara01

George, I think you made a really great point I took the same thing away. I too got the feeling that Jimmy Page could be sitting right next to him and grinning ear-to-ear agreeing with Robben. Can you imagine a round table with the two of those guys OMG I would watch it over a thousand times especially if Page brought in all his old gear and played all kind of obscure Zeppelin Tunes and had Robben jamming with him sharing all kinds of influences and ideas. In an alternate universe this is going on right now lol. These are the kind of things that I dream about in my sleep but will probably never happen sadly lol. Peace, Bob M.
