I honestly don't think most of them were THAT bad. I feel like you especially gotta let off movies that are almost 20 years old. Baywatch was a huge L though, maybe the worst of them. A lot of the stuff felt like they were criticising design choices rather than badly executed CGI.
I mean, why not? There’s nothing wrong with it. It might’ve been impossible to make it look good at the time but that doesn’t mean the cgi is good. The cgi in the old mortal kombat or spawn is awful.

most of star wars wasnt computer generated, they actually used practical tricks on the move rolls by scratching out parts and overexposing the film to create lasers for example.

Great CGI makes you appreciate movies even more. Look at Transformers for example. The writing isn't the best, but the CGI is outstanding. It even holds up better than newer movies today.
When they mentioned venom and when they add cartoon characters when time is slowed down... the same is done in the flash when Barry is runny/fighting as super speed
If the VFX artists were given more time, more creative freedom, and compensated more fairly, then the work featured in this video would've been better. If there's a union for talent, there should be a union for VFX artists too.

The movie released in 2009 very few franchises with no marketing for over 13 years can keep people remembering characters especially ones that are killed off. When Avatar 2 reaches other huge global blockbuster numbers despite a still ongoing pandemic I think people will really start to have the respect for Avatar that it truly deserves when they see the new underwater capture technology in the films. No film goes #1 with NO culture impact, that's the recency bias blinding you.
ultimately I think a lot of the cgi/vfx struggles in these just came down to color correction and shadows or just needing a bit more in put into animation. In my opinion I think a lot of those weren’t as bad as the video made them out to be.

1:00 the reason that one is so bad is because Jabba the Hutt was originally an actual person, and he wasn't changed to be the lizard like person until much later on. Hence why Solo says "you're a wonderful human being" ... not "you're a wonderful Hutt"

Sorry avatar is a fantastic movie and everyone wants the second one to come out. It’s story, characters and animation were all great and the ending to the first movie was done perfectly
