This now vacant building was built in 1938 as a private home for the adopted son of the founder of the largest grocery chain in Canada. In 1946, the home and property was sold to an MPP and lawyer who would eventually become a prominent judge in the province of Ontario. Then in 1953 the land would change owners again, this time it was purchased by a well known and respected Dr who would later be one of the founding members of of of the most prestigious medical universities in the country. In 1957, despite much protest from the local community, the property was sold again and was transformed into a funeral home. An addition was constructed to the rear of the home,as well as the terrazzo floor and basement preparation room, From 1957 through 2017 this building served the community as a funeral home under several different names and owners until the building was closed and vacated permanently in 2017. Today, the property is being considered for a new development of an eight storey mixed use building, consisting of ground floor commercial, 99 residential units and one level of underground parking. So, it would seem that the fate of this former residence and funeral home has been sealed and pending full approval of the new development this building will be demolished in the near future. Funeral homes have a special place in my heart. The one that helped me lay my baby boy to rest was/is amazing. I sure miss him. Rest well my little KC. Love you. Another great video UBD. Big higs from Alberta
It looks like where chairs would be set up and people would visit or even a funeral service maybe held in the large rooms, happy no vandalism. Reminds me of places in the small towns I grew up by in central Mn. Happy all equipment is gone.
The large green rooms with all of the spot lights would definitely have been the casket selection rooms. And’s somewhere there would have been either an elevator or lift. Moving all the heavy merchandise and the bodies would not have been via the stairs that we saw. Thanks for the tour!
Wonder if it one time there was a little apartment above the funeral home. In the town where we come from, one of my sisters friends lived above the funeral home here. It was really kind of strange. Pretty cool even though it’s empty. Take care!
That place is more creepier that a funeral home with everything in it to know that all the bodies were in that building now there just floating around now.
You said it's been vacant for many many years...but in the description it says it closed in 2017?? 4 years isnt very long. Anyway thanks for the fun tour.
Take the good with the bad? When are you going to show us bad? Lol My sister thanked me today for sharing a video on Facebook of one of your abandoned video's. She is really enjoying watching your channel. I also turned my ex onto your other other channel. He lives in the U.P. of Michigan and has many waterfalls in his neck of the woods. He really enjoys your Ontario falls. Todays was a nice find and your end of the video was hilarious.
Like the music you add and the ending. But otherwise it would be neat to fix up and turn it in to something else. Puzzling tho why the radiator is in the closet 🤔🤔
Cool video. My guess about the super large empty room is that it would have been the chapel. Funeral homes I've been to usually have a big room with pews for some funeral services to be held.
UBD thats a back breaking Funeral home no wonder they split after years of heavy lifting. Any how i call that Radiator a Column heater or a water/Oil filled Column heater perhaps they acted as side vented heating system if you want the heat in the room open the cupboard door if you dont close it. Cheers
This funeral home was a disappointment. There was nothing in it. That music you played was fitting for this place but creepy. That ending with you shown 3 times in the same shot was creepy too. I wonder how you did that! I pronounce it rad e a tor for radiator. Stay safe Dave.

Thanks you my sweet friend
Nice explore Dave thanks

The music that starts playing at 9:30, sounds straight out of a 1980's Italian horror film.
scary guys!

Nice place and pretty colors . There is no damage yet .
Yes, you are right
It's definitely a nice looking building
It looks like where chairs would be set up and people would visit or even a funeral service maybe held in the large rooms, happy no vandalism. Reminds me of places in the small towns I grew up by in central Mn. Happy all equipment is gone.

Still nice and clean. I was expecting it to be more messy. Thanks, good job.
Ooh the orb - very interesting and this place was large. Interesting to see 🌹
Loved the clever ending. Thanks for the history on this place.
Glad you enjoyed it
The best part of this explore was how you ended it. Nice job.
thanks for staying till the end

I say Flass light and RAD iator, well I do now anyway 😁 Great video thx ❤
Good choice! lol
The ending is HYSTERICAL! Awesome music choices. Strange building!! I say Ray-dee-ator :)
haha thanks!!!
What is up Dave? Talk about creepy. Glad to see it has not been vandalised. Thanks for sharing and stay safe.
Thanks Claire :)
I loved the little trick at the end putting three of you in the same frame 😁 the place might've been empty, but it was still an awesome video
haha I am glad you stayed till the end!
always 😁

I was thinking maybe the funeral directors apartment. Many live on the grounds.
maybe!
@@kellywilson7684 I would agree, The family that owned a funeral home in Gananoque lived above theirs
Visita ums necrotérios abandonados também valeu 👍

Twice, he said many many year (singular).
Upstairs was most likely the selection room…viewing rooms were downstairs.
i got 9 min in your video and i couldnt handle any more, it got me too sad, i couldnt get through it, sorry friend
sorry i make you haz the sads
My dad said rad-iator. And wheel bar-row.
Did it smell like a funeral home?
Rooms up stairs are not a viewing rooms. The rooms up stairs are a casket rooms and 1 of the other rooms is where the urns and vaults were displayed
There is an empty funeral home 🏠 close to always wanted to see the house 🏠 and the other rooms of building
That large room was the chapel i could tell because of the exit door to take the casket out after viewing during funeral

I say Radiator! With the raid sound in it and I say flashlight
👍👏👽👽👽
Cool video. My guess about the super large empty room is that it would have been the chapel. Funeral homes I've been to usually have a big room with pews for some funeral services to be held.
And the Exit lights are illuminated. Hmmmm!
Ok that was spooky
Perhaps the space with the chipboard was the elevator shaft had been covered for safety.
Where is this😱
In Scotland we pronounce it radiator with the a pronounced with a capital A
I wonder if you can make it into a house
The layout seems very odd for a funeral home. It must have been difficult working there.
UBD thats a back breaking Funeral home no wonder they split after years of heavy lifting. hey thanks for the comment
Ray-dee-ay-tor. Second floor may have been an apartment for the owner.
hmm maybe!
Ray diator, long a. And flashlight 😂😂 Empty but interesting. Oooh! Triplets!
How do u say radiator? I say it with long A
Wow the whole thing is definitely early 80s renovation until you get to the top floor then it's bam, Victorian
Funeral homes dont have a "banquet room." Probably was the chapel. Lol
Ray-dee-ater
ray dee ay tore
In the uk that would have cannabis growing in most of the rooms if there’s still power. It’d be a fine place to grow too.
🤑🤑🤑🤑👍👍👍😛🤪
who is paying power

A video of nothing. Not interesting, not even a little…
I don't want to be rude as you seems to be a friendly guy, but i'd better subscribe to a real estate channel, that'd be more interesting.
I doubt that! What did u expect to see?
Wow! Really?
you really can't get better videos than Freaktography 💕
You're too kind LuAnne
Fun one, loved the ending!
I like the part where the vackum cleaner is plugged in 👍we don't see that to often .🤭🤔😂
