The dampener is supposed to be inside of the bus right there on the woodstove where flames don’t shoot up your chimney and start a chimney fire. The dampener is supposed to cut off more oxygen, so it produces more heat where the heat don’t go straight out the chimney.
I thought the same thing. The damper should have been in a lower pipe right above the stove, but they placed it in the spark arrestor section. Maybe I'll try to alter one of the extra pipes and get it where it belongs. Thanks for pointing that out, I felt something wasn't right but couldn't put my finger on it. It's been a long while without a wood stove
You buy another damper/flue that goes right at the bottom of the chimney near the stove, instead of on the spark arrester. Never saw the damper up there, before. It is too important for conserving heat & wood to have to go outside to adjust it when you want to open or close it a little.
I built a rocket mass stove in my basement, actually had to rebuild it to improve on it but I built with cobb and it works great. This is the very first video of yours that I have seen so I don't know if your bus is stationary but would highly recommend a cobb rocket mass stove to anyone that needs a good primary heat source.
For the most it's stationary but on occasion I travel with it. I'll definitely check out a cobb rocket mass stove. Do you have any specific links to look at?
I really appreciate this video I've been going back and forth for about 7 months on a wood stove I wasn't trying to spend a lot of money because I'm temporarily on my family's land preparing for sale I'm in a 24 foot camper that's basically a shell I'm completely off-grid due to Cape cod rules and regulations. I visited your Etsy store in absolutely love your work. I would be extremely interested in a wood stove that would burn more than two or three hours but small and convenient maybe with a little artist flair...lol... Just an idea!!!

Looks to be a nice addition to the bus, will you use it for cooking aswell? 🔥 👍 😊
It definitely keeps the bus warm. I could use it to hit up water for sure
The guylines are for the chimney to stablize it in high winds.
Stay safe and warm
Not as cold as folks in the north but for a desert rat like myself, having it heat the place up in the mornings is great

@JenniferWalmsley-k1s hi there, in my first bus, I built a wood stove using a propane tank. It worked great and the bus was 40 feet long.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Gib
