Listen, we sacrificed our bodies to eat cookies every day until that baby got in you and we are READY to eat the cookies so baby-roni stays healthy when he/she is out too. You ask, you shall receive. Let me get out my chocolate chip recipe now. 🍪🍪🍪- seriously though, always praying for you guys, I have faith that baby will be healthy, happy, and adorable.

I was 42 when I was pregnant with my only child. We had some test results indicate that there was a 25% chance that something was wrong with the baby. I was scared to death for days. Try to remember that if the weatherman reported a 25% chance of rain you probably wouldn’t take an umbrella. Praying that all goes well.

Imagine this: it’s fall, you and Grant are home and introducing Babyroni to Luna and your family. Babyroni is perfect with 10 fingers and 10 toes, a precious face, and the best new baby smell. It’s a beautiful, cozy fall day and you think back on all the ups and downs that led to this moment and smile at your baby because they’re in your arms and none of the challenges matter anymore. The first positive test that didn’t work out, the hyper-stimulation, the pain (in the butt!) of taking shots everyday, and now this. Because all of the time, energy, emotion, blood, sweat, and tears were all worth it. ♥️♥️ you’ve got this mama. We’re all here rooting for you ♥️

My nephew has a one of a kind heart. Not only did he have two severe heart defects that were repaired when he was 6 months old but his electrical system was written about in a medical journal. He was in heart failure the first 6 months of his life. He’s 20 years old and in college to be a pediatric cardiologist like the one that saved him. You would never know he has a special heart-he will have to eventually have a pacemaker and seems the cardiologist every year but he lives a normal life. Just a little story that having a baby with a heart problem can have a happy ending. :)

I'm so glad your baby's growing so well and is such a little party kiddo! One thing I found helpful during my pregnancies (when I had worrisome things to think about) was just sitting in my rocking chair, rubbing my bump, and singing softly to the baby. The love just melted the worries away and I felt stronger to cope with worries after that bonding time. You've got Grant, great doctors, a wonderful family showering you all with love and prayers...and you've got one precious baby who has an amazing Mom and Dad.

I’m glad it’s a maybe and not a yes, but I’m sorry it’s there. It’s never nice to hear anything is “wrong.” Thank goodness Grant is a Dr! I can only imagine the comfort that can bring. I had 2 high risk babies, and you definitely have the right attitude. With my first I let myself be so consumed with worry that I was literally shocked when they handed me a healthy happy baby. I had prepared myself for the worst so much that I forgot to prepare myself for actual motherhood. Stay positive, and like you said you have a greater chance of healthy baby, focus on the good.

I did the same with my first after I was told I had Single Umbilical Artery (also high risk). I consumed myself with googling, and had crippling fear of the worst. My baby ended up being healthy in every way, and I really regret the stress and worry I put myself and baby through.

I’m a Lupus mom on Plaquenil as well, and went through the same pregnancy angst you are right now. All the talk of heart issues scared the crap out of us too, but we have two healthy strapping young men to show for it. God’s got your back, and He’s got that baby’s back too. What you focus on expands, so try not to focus like mad on the scariest parts. Keep the faith. You’re going to be a beautiful family of three one day soon! ❤️🙏👍

I’m 19 weeks as of today and tested positive with SSA antibodies 3 years ago. It sounds like I’ve had VERY similar appointments and conversations with high-risk doctors as of late. I asked for a repeat blood test for SSA antibodies (& of course they tested for more than that). Tests came back negative & everything else was in the normal range so I’m glad you’re getting retested for that. At this point I won’t have to get an echocardiogram done to look at baby’s heart but it sounds like it’s a great thing for you to do - to have peace of mind but also have all hands on deck in the case that something goes wrong. All your worry about baby developing any level of heart block is so normal, I’ve felt it all too. Going to your appointments and keeping on top of things is a perfect place to start. I know google can be so scary but at the end of the day you can only do all that’s within your control. It’s been recommended for me to have a fetal doppler at home, so I think you made the right choice in ordering one. Hopeful that all continues to go well! Looking forward to hearing about your test results and following your pregnancy journey going forward. Really resonates with me! Stay positive!

Also just as a small tidbit of side info it’s taken us about 2.5 years of trying before having a successful pregnancy - all doctors I’ve seen have been very surprised that baby was conceived naturally & not through IVF. Congratulations on embarking through that journey to parenthood & I’m happy to hear it was successful for you!

I pulled you a tarot card and I asked “ How is Leigh Ann and Grants baby?” And I pulled The Sun card!
The sun card (in my deck) depicts a mama mouse with a baby in its pouch! And they’re in a field of full bloom flowers. It’s a joyous omen of completion and harvesting the fruits of your labor. Success, radiance, and enthusiasm.

All good thoughts for you guys. At my 20w we found that my little guy had only one kidney. From then had appts with genetics to see if any chance of other genetic issues, went for a fetal echo to check the heart for any potential structural issues, lots of extra visits to see if there were any other structural issues in the urinary system. It was stressful and I got a lot of stats about possibilities for other issues, but I now have a happy, healthy toddler who just happens to have one kidney.
