Good vid, I really like my Hush - X, it is great for practising and is pretty good guitar. It isn't perfect and the neck pickup is a lot quieter, but I rotate it quite regularly between my guitars. The string action is incredibly light , so if you struggle with playing guitar, this is a good option. It sounds pretty good distorted on the humbucker and the middle pickup position provides a nice clean sound. for quiet practice, I use an Xvive mini plug amp with the earpieces and it is a really good distorted sound. You can also connect your phone via the aux jack and jam privately to backing tracks or spotify with a kick ass sound. If you want a great travel guitar, or just a smaller guitar to jam around on, this is a good option.
Great review. I usually didn't like any of the travel guitars that came out before but this one looks decent. I assume the HPL fretboard was used to cut cost. I wonder how the fret board feels like. I play in a local cover band and just don't have time to practice pluggin everything in. I just need something to practice on my couch with a headset. I am thinking of getting one but, I would definitely replace the pickups just to see how better it would sound. One improvement would be a bluetooth to connect my phone so I could listen to songs that I play covers to. This is prob another cost to manufacturers to pay the bluetooth license, but I think less wire is more. Thanks for the review. 👍
I'm impressed. Improvements would be a bottom bracket that attached at two points like the top. Offer larger thicker brackets. More information about the frets, scale length, nut width.
5:27 - Some people say, I have read, that it would be great if the zero fret had string grooves because the strings seem to wobble left and right there on the zero fret, and because of that a clanking sound can be heard during bends - is this true?
I haven’t noticed that. Notches in a zero fret is actually bad it causes snagging and instability in bends, it eliminates the purpose of it. A lot of strandberg users have to get their zero fret re done because of notches forming over time from heavy use.
Looks good. I wonder if they aer likely to come out with a version of this model with a piezo pick up as well. Do you think that would work? if we're travelling with the guitar it could be good to have all the sounds. However, it may be that ou think that the single coil pick up would be close enough to an acoustic sound to be useful.
@@Music-for-Miles Good point but I was thinking that if they would produce a version which has both a piezo and the magnetic single coil and humbucking pickups this would make for an even mofe flexible travel guitar and increase my inclination to buy one.
Nice review. Can I use this "X" for more acoustic sounds like heard at 9:20. Alternatively, can the "I" be used for electric sounds? Are the strings on "I" the ones used on acoustic guitar?
I love and hate this guitar. Size and feel is great, but the sound is terrible. Looking forward to a video where someone changes the pickups, as I am thinking about it too. I am not a pro, but hoping this could improve the sound in "mini amp environments" - like the "spark go" for practicing in my camper. Any recommendations for a low cost pickup (as this is still a travel guitar) but could help to feel more comfortable with its sound? 🙏🙃
I might mod mine. The single coil is way too quiet compared to the humbucker, you can fix it using some foam to raise it but curious if it’s a good mod platform. I sent Donner some feedback but my worry is it’s a pcb or something once you open it up and it won’t be easy swap
@@Music-for-Miles I am less concerned about it being too quiet, than its high sound, which I dislike and can't really get adjusted with my mini amp so far (with the bigger blues cube it works okay though). I haven't opened it yet, but I am concerned about a pcb as well. I was thinking about a DiMarzio DP175S True Velvet BK and a DiMarzio DP 155FBK The Tone Zone combo, as these ares used on the Ibanez RG721FM, which sounds great for a mid priced guitar. Please let us know if you give the mod a try. 🙏🤓
I have one. Replacing the strings is a problem with this guitar. You have these tiny grub screws on the headstock which are a PITA to deal with. Two screws for each string. Feeding the strings through the tiny holes is also not fun. They should make it like a Floyd locking nut instead. I tightened one screw too much and the string snapped. Other than that it’s not too bad over all. But it doesn’t play nearly as well as a Strat or Les Paul.
They include those rubber tubes to help but I agree it’s a bit of a pain compared to other headless guitars but you can’t beat the price on the Donner.
Hello. I have question for you. I was playing on acoustic long time. Now I need to switch to travel guitar. What do you think, the Donner Hush X can create sound like acoustic guitar and replace it?
Fender's position of the volume knob is not for everyone ... people who start on strats don't seem to have a problem with it, but everyone who starts on something else does.
This review failed where all others fail. There was no mention of the negative aspects of the Donnner when playing standing up. The neck tends to fall downwards because it is heavier and due to the position of the strap pin the guitar also falls forward. This makes playing uncomfortable because you need to exert some force with your right arm to keep the guitar in the correct position. It would be necessary to move the pin to secure the strap and put some weight back there so the neck wouldn't fall.
Hey! The top of the neck has a bracket intended for a wall hanger, you can tie your strap there and it balances out the weight vs the strap button. That's what I did at least to combat the issue.
Can you down tune it easily? I saw on another review he was having issues with the tuning pegs at the bottom coming out going into drop d. Edit: Nevermind he said he ended up not having enough string length lol.
DON'T BUY THIS unless you want to risk a world of pain. Bought one and the pickup selector broke after a month. Donner's customer service is non-existent. No telephone number and they ignore all emails. BEWARE!
Can we replace it? I see it's pretty different than standard one and when I played - I felt it can be broke soon. Also compared it with Gibson SG) - was curious what if put here a good humbucker or even made it active pickup with kinda emg 9v - probably will be great)
Check my latest review of Strandberg. I love Donner but Strandberg takes the cake on quality and neck th-cam.com/video/th4xQGZ80Lg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=FHzNLA5VH_u7zLqO

My Samsung does, otherwise you get a Bluetooth transmitter/receiver that uses the aux input into guitar.
Отличный инструмент, судя по всему. Спасибо за обзор, теперь точно убедился, что надо брать!
Thanks for the info. Organized review which I appreciated. You put the cherry on the cake.........purchasing this guitar.
Waiting for the 24 fret version with tremolo, I wished Donner would redesign the lower cut for the higher frets.
That’d be sick! Things still a little acoustic feeling they need a shredder version for sure!
Maybe check the steinburger spirit?
4:08 The notches in the tuning keys make it possible to use a Pick to turn the key in emergency situations.
Couldn’t wait for 9:20 to start playing the guitar 🔥 nice
Much improved
Now Donner needs a 1.1

The Hush-I pro has Bluetooth connectivity but it’s more for acoustic players. I like to use the X with the fender mustang micro headphone amp
@@jasonyoo3432 The HPL fretboard is very smooth and dense and clean - feels a lot like an ebony board. The fretwork is very accurate.

Scale is standard and it's great comparing with another travel guitars like blackstar.

I can! I love Dragonforce!
hi sir you thnk can upgrade to bridge with tremolo?
That would be difficult and require major modifications but probably possible if you got the right bridge
Could anyone who has one please accurately measure the E to E string distance at the bridge please? For info the Hush-I is 50mm.

What’s the thickest strings that can be put on this? I use 12 - 60 in drop C# tuning
You can drop tune it for sure but it’s not a very fast guitar like a standberg it’s more like a Gibson neck

Hush 1 vs X? I am really confused. Please advice..
Hush 1 is an "acoustic*" where as thee X is electric as having the pickups allows for all the rock goodies.
