Welcome to my weekly solo guitar arrangement! In the past few weeks I have posted all kinds of fun, crowd-pleasing tunes ranging from Thin Lizzy to Donald Fagen to Amy Winehouse to the Love Boat theme... (check them out!). However, this week I feel that I must pay tribute and respect to the man who single handedly got me into solo guitar playing. On January 13, Joe Pass would have been 86. As always, please "like", comment, share... And above all, enjoy! #jazzmusic #jazzguitar th-cam.com/video/_jjaKRqhZ0A/w-d-xo.html
Oh my! I swear I can "feel" Joe smiling just over & above my right shoulder! I rem his video where he told some youngins, "Play songs, learn songs!" This is what Joe is talking about. O my, Oh Yeah!
Thank you so much Jake. This arrangement really puts your skills and ability on full display as you scale the entire neck. I thought it was just beautiful and flowing so smoothly. gosh...I was listening to the president speak as I saw you had posted on my timeline and immediately muted the television as I began watching you play. You are truly gifted Jake , and it's so kind of you to share your gift with everyone , God bless you my friend
I'm a huge fan. You play so beautifully. I'm also a big Joe Pass lover, you paid him great tribute in this video! Thanks for all that you contribute to the jazz guitar community!
Thank you for this Jake, I really appreciate you are dedicating it to me ;-). Joking apart, as I said in the past, my favorite performances from you are those covering jazz standards and this is not an exception. Love it!
Thank you! Join me right here on my TH-cam channel for a live broadcast performance almost every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 7 PM EST and I’ll play your requests! :-)

Finally, another standard! (Sorry, I can't help myself; it's what I love.) Great stuff as usual, Jake. I love your polyphonic improvisation, such a rare skill on the guitar. But I'm curious as to how much of it, at this stage in your career, is worked out ahead of time--especially if you're planning on making this an instructional piece. Working out chord phrases ahead of time is, I think, an essential part of the process--one must develop a vocabulary of such phrases just as one does with, say, 2/5/1s or turnarounds. I don't do nearly enough of that. I'm just wondering if you are past that, or if it's still something you're working on.
Thanks Don! :-) I love the standards too of course and they are at lest 50% of my live gig repertoire. On TH-cam I post other stuff to try to reach a wider audience to which I can try to sell lessons as I'm sure you figured out (and in fact I love good pop too!). As for your question, I don't practice any solo guitar at all (I do practice lead and scales, and such) but the real answer is that on any given day I play 99.9% of what I played the day before and hope to just add one new thing. Do it long and regular enough and pretty soon you speak the language, does that make sense?
Hey Jake, Suspicious minds by Elvis Presley; you've got a friend in me by Randy Newman; wild horses by The rolling stones; Your still the one by Orleans; Fast Cars by Tracy Chapman >>>>>>> if you could tackle those in the future that would be awesome.
