I’m someone who left the church when I went away to college. My mom has been telling me for 15 years she’s praying I will return. I plan on going to confession real soon and returning to the church I grew up in.
Might be a good idea to first examine what it means to be a Christian. Why did Jesus say we must first seek the kingdom of God and *HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS* and all these other things would be added unto us? Why did Paul say that "..BUT NOW... a *righteousness from God* has been revealed..."? Or that *RIGHTEOUSNESS* is imputed to us - Romans 4:4-10? What exactly is that *RIGHTEOUSNESS?* and why is it of paramount importance? How does one obtain said *RIGHTEOUSNESS?*
Lets compare Church services when Churches were full and now. Before, when we went to Church we met with spiritual atmosphere, organ music and sermons on faith and morals. Now the effort is to serve entertainment for attraction. If that is what people look for they will go to a theatre or circus not Church. When we. Come to Church we look for spirituality and closeness with God which cannot be found in loud music which end in applause and funny sermons etc. we cannot concentrate to speak to God or worship Him. Aussie Catholic.
Lord God I plead of you to bring back DD thru' the power of Your Holy Spirit. Back to the Catholic Church. Our son& his fly, I pray Your will be done in their lives. As per Your Will & Plan for them & their respective families, in Jesus' Name, I pray. Good Night dears
Unlikely, what could you possibly use as proof to convince someone that a God exists. Or even more so, if the God of Christianity did exist, who would want to follow such an immoral hateful god?
They will. Just believe. I m telling you judging by myself. Being a teenager and a few years after is a strange timeline but after that when you get more mature things are getting clear. God bless you and your family!
I have 4 kids too and they stopped going to mass, hearing and practicing the faith. What I do now us to always pray the 20 mysteries of the Holy Rosary and I leave everything to the Blessed Mother and our Lord God.
My brother came back to the church this year. He was 48 and confirmed. He lives 8 hours away and driving down to be a sponsor for him was one of the proudest days of my life. I was just as proud to see him come "home" as i am when my children go to mass.
too bad for him...fully inclusiveness awaits, as well as universalism. The pope is setting it up nicely and his followers will ensure that it gets done. There's no turning back now.
I am a catholic who was a MESS! (I was catholic since I was 4) Going into other faiths cuz I wanted to find black ppl who have the same beliefs an 10 years or failed searching I end up coming back home slowly an sped up after i listened to Fr Mike Schmitz Bible in a year YT channel for 7 months an during lent 2023 I started veiling and Jesus Christ kept popping up in my dreams nearly daily for 2.5 months straight an really helped me come back home to the Catholic Church! Gradually I started wearing crosses, rosary’s, an reading the catechism with Fr Mike Schmitz and the first saint I fell in love with was St Thomas Aquinas! My mom, dad, Fr Michael (priest in NJ), friends, family, some catholic coworkers, and TH-cam that really helped me bring me back home to the Catholic Faith! 🙏🏽📿📿🙏🏽
@@irishscorpio1966 It was the Hot Ones challenge episode. Then from there I watched the one about the history of Catholicism and alcohol. After that, I became fascinated and it reawakened my faith
...right, as long as the non believer agrees to listen! I have a huge problem to sugest anything to my kid and grandchildern!! Very sad.... I am still praying, what else?
As a cradle protestant, please understand that you (Catholics) are a part of something beautiful & ancient & very important that unites you and plugs you into something that opens doors & gives you camaraderie and culture beyond your nationality or social hierarchy. I am envious. - As a protestant (I'm trying to leave it) it's a mangled mess. I have never been able to meet genuine people. The music, the vibe, the people all seem extremely fake and corny and it embarrasses all Christians in my opinion. Don't take for granted what you got. God bless!
Saw your post. Southern Baptist here and sorry to hear you feel so detached. There are protestants out here that appreciate how you feel. I can in some ways relate to what you say and feel. I am rather introverted and reclusive and don't like open and demonstrative gestures that some churches practice during worship services. However, I have found good Christians in every church that I was a member of and enjoyed parts of every service. Sometimes we just have to pray for understanding and acceptance and always study our Bible. I hope you find that special place you seek. Godspeed.
What Brandon is saying about St. Monica is so true ! I began a few years ago "praying for an Ambrose" to come into the lives of my adult children and their families. I am seeing those tiny seeds begin to sprout and it's not through me... it's through others who come into their lives in so many different ways. Also I stopped talking 'at' them, I just model my faith. They are very aware of the tantamount importance of the Church in my life...and they like it. They might not participate, but boy do they rely on ME participating. They respect my faith. They always ask me to pray for their various needs. I know it's happening. I am 70 years old, and maybe I won't be here to witness the total fruition of my prayers, but I always pray to St. Joseph for a happy death and that it will be a miraculous occasion of faith for my family.🙏✝️❤️🌹
@robertstephenson6806your argument is that saints made mistakes so they can’t be in Heaven? Hmmm, that theory probably won’t bode well for you either then.
What an amazing mother and grandmother you must be 🙏 Thank you so much for sharing you have really encouraged me to continue to pray for my family, my children also ask me to pray for them and their friends!! Your comment was a real blessing to me ❤️ sending prayers to you 🙏
My daughter stopped going while in college and the death of her brother. She comes with her father and me on holidays but I tell her no communion until she goes to confession. But I really wish she could receive the Holy Eucharist. I’m praying for her return.
Hello from Nebraska. My four step daughters have stopped going to church despite having a solid Catholic upbringing. It has been devastating for my wife
Tell her to pray the Rosary every day and trust God’s timing with them. We have 5 children and we are going through a similar situation. We’ve seen miracles here and there. Keep praying and don’t lose hope! Mary’s got this! 🙏🏻🌹
If I could move back to NE purely for how the Church is ran (at least it use to be) I'd do it in a heartbeat. Very traditional compared to MI. I was very young, 1977, when we moved but still say I'm from NE. GBR!
AWESOME SHOW! I pray the Rosary every day for my 5 children to embrace their Catholic faith. We’ve seen small miracle and glimmers of hope. Prayers said with complete faith are so strong! Never doubt God. There’s always hope! ❤️🌹🙏🏻
1. If you know what the Eucharist is, you would never leave. That’s the same as abandoning Christ on the Cross. 2. The Church is what you are sharing with and giving to the Body of Christ, not only what you are taking away from it. The focus on self is a big part of the shift.
Currently praying for my adult sons- to return to the Catholic Church-- faith and prayers & God has guided me in my life and would like them to be faith filled Men and Godly men
I strongly believe that we as parents must lead by example. I was a cradle Catholic that never really understood our faith and beliefs until I learned from am amazing Catechism teacher on my children's zoom lesson during covid. We also discovered many great priests online. My daughter is now in college and she understands my emphasis on attending Sunday mass as a priority. I learned about Newman Centers because of Father Mike. I thought we was on a Catholic campus and learned he is not. Attending weekly mass helps my college daughter obey the commandments, stay in good grace with God which allows her to receive communion and earn her way to heaven.
Fr. Chris Alar has amazing talks on exploring the faith, I came back to Catholicism because of the education I got from his TH-cam channel as well as this one. Thank you guys 🙏🏼
My daughter is 28 and she announced 4 years ago that she’s “no longer Catholic.” Gave me all her religious jewelry. I wear her cross every day with my Miraculous medal while I pray fervently for her to come back. She’s entrenched in new age garbage right now. I feel like she’s totally lost. But I will not give up on her. I blame myself for being (former) lukewarm Catholic. I was a very bad example for her. How I wish I could change that.
Pray daily rosary novena for her with st jude novena he is patron of hopeless case.Attend holy mass and pray for her.Surrender your worries to God and let go.
God doesn’t want you to blame your self. Don’t tire of praying, go to a retreat, join a ministry and when your surrounded with faithful friends your journey is lighter! Our blessed mother will intercede for you! Pray! I’m praying for you. I also have a daughter who left the Catholic Church
@@vallola04 It really is a heart-wrenching thing when your beloved child gives up on the faith you deeply believe in. Especially so for the mothers. There is something to think about though - for instance you said : *Our blessed mother will intercede for you!* Therein lies a big, big issue. 1 Timothy 2:5 King James Version: _For there is one God, and _*_one mediator_*_ between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;_ The idea that Mary is the intercessor is heretical. Please, listen to the bible, not extra-biblical, erroneous human tradition. The bible is God's word -spoken to men who wrote down what they were moved by. The text is clear - Jesus said to the Sadducees : "Have you not read what was SPOKEN unto you by God, saying.."(Matt 22:31) *Listen to what GOD says,* do not listen to what disbelieving and heretical men pretends God has said.
Dear, I and my husband were not lukewarm Catholics and our son stopped practicing his faith I think because of his secular friends and girlfriend … it breaks our hearts … 😢this program gave me a encourage not to despair…I hope and pray your children will come back to one holy Catholic faith.
Please pray for my son to return to his faith. I’m praying from he left age 21 and now is 35. Heavenly Mother please put your Mantle around him and take the scales from him eyes so that he may see. In Jesus name i pray. Amen ❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🇮🇪🇮🇪
I really needed to hear this podcast. Thank you so much for speaking about this issue. I see by the comments that I am not alone and that there is hope for my daughter to come back. Thanks to all who commented on this.
In my personal experience, "not being spiritually fed" is tied to whether people "like" the way the preacher preaches. The style, not the Word. It's work to be spiritually fed. Listen, supplement with other reading, study. If Mother Teresa never walked away, we need to be better. Thank you guys for your efforts, #HailMaryrightnow.
To the point about the importance of the Church to engage with internet and new media I can honestly say that THIS SHOW and other Catholic internet youtubers and resources were instrumental in my reconversion back to my faith which is now the single most important thing in my life. It works! Viva Cristo Rey. Thank you and God Bless you all. xxx
I'm cradle Catholic went to a Catholic school and loved it .The Sisters taught us about How Jesus is the the Eucharistic...Every time I go to communion its like the day of my First Communion ..and when the Priest lays his hands over the wine and bread and it becomes the BODY and BLOOD of Jesus my heart flutters with excitement...I believe we need a Catholic education...We lost that ..
Leave all judgement at the door. Love and accept them just as they are! Start anew. This is my new strategy. In the meantime I am starting to fast and continue to trust and pray. And now I will be able to ask the question "What happened?"
My grandpa took us to church and not my parents. He sang in the choir. The rosary I had always reminded me about church even when I strayed. My teens don't have friends that go to a Catholic church. We are surrounded by other Christian churches.
I’m one of those cradle Catholics who received good formation up to 9 years old, but left in the 70s because of childhood trauma, spiritual hunger and no one to turn to for help. I found food for my soul in the world of non-Catholic Christians but Jesus and heaven led me home three years ago. My adopted daughter left God and tears flow every day as I lift her up to God. The Eucharist and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is where I get my daily bread now. Ordered the book. Looking forward to reading it.
It's so weird. Sometimes I am shocked how many priests have family members who've left the church. That really has to be hard, especially at family get-togethers.
Oh my goodness! This episode spoke directly to me. I had fallen away from my faith as a teenager. By the grace of God, my husband and the prayers of my mother, I returned in my late twenties. Now my son, who is in his twenties, has turned his back on his faith. It's heartbreaking. I can only pray for him to return and keep the lines of communication open. Thank you for this episode! ❤️🙏❤️
I'm a cradle Catholic who left the faith shortly after being Confirmed. I'm in my 30's now with a family and came back to the Church last year. My wife whom was not a believer is now attending mass every Sunday with our kids and I and is praying every day. Hold out hope!
Thank you for this interview . My grandson hasn’t had any religious education . I’ve been asking my son to return to church . He graduated from a Catholic high school, too !
I am a cradle Catholic. I never left the Church, but I did struggle for a while. I place that struggle squarely on the poor catechesis I received in Catholic schools in grade school and high school. Looking back to the 70s and 80s, it was awful. Just awful. That not only impacted my spiritual growth negatively, but my ability to effectively form my children. We went to Mass every Sunday and on Holy Days. All three made the Sacraments and we’re involved in youth activities. But, my poor formation meant that I did not adequately fulfill my role as their father. Consequently, all three have stepped away from the Church to my utter shame and constant sorrow.
I was baptized a Catholic in Central America but I went to the beach every Sunday not to church. Watching a video of Our Lady of the Roses 🌹 30 years ago got me on track. Now I belong to a church movement but I see that we do not educate our children on the real Cathesim. Yes before first communion and any other sacrament, but the Cathesism all throughout no. Kids never read the books of the doctors of the church or about the struggles our antecesors had to go through, for example La Vendeè in France. So we really do not understand what it's all about. Although we went to church on Sundays it's been really hard to transmit love for the Church to our kids.
Great point about spiritual needs not being met. I attend church weekly and the homily leaves me wanting more. Some priests are spiritually strong and you leave with food for thought and enriched. They are rare. I understand that there is much more than just the homily but understand how some would feel empty after mass.
We went to a church picnic today and it was as if no one could see us. I happened to run into someone I knew from outside of church, but if it hadn’t been for that person not a single person engaged in conversation with us even as we tried to start conversations with several people. I have spent the summer trying to find a friendly Catholic Church. It’s been a wasteland.
Fr. Chris Alar has "Explaining the Faith", which I found when I was looking for Rosary information. I taught about 20 years in Catholic Schools and I am still learning SO MUCH and I love it. You can love what you know.
Hi, This is a problem we have prayed over for many years. It is disappointing that your offer isn’t open for Australia. May God bless your book and bring countless souls back to their faith and our loving Father. God bless you and your work.
In our church, we have an associate pastor priest who gives almost the same homily every week and my two kids notice that of course and it impacts our mass experience. Sometimes I feel like I am sinning by thinking bad about this priest and writing to the pastor about it but I feel that if I do, he may get in trouble for it. Even if I say it in a nice way, it may still be received as a criticism. What we do now is we don’t always go to mass at our parish even though it’s the closest to us and we keep the financial support. I don’t feel at all that my kids look forward to going to church at all but a lot of priests can do so much better in explaining the gospel in the context of day to day living and deliver more inspiring homilies.
I’m amazed at all the returning Catholics in the comment section. Thank the Lord. I have consecrated myself to Jesus through Mary 33 Days to Morning Glory and after eight months my hubby asked to go to church. He was raised Catholic and received the sacraments but drifted away in the 90’s . I attribute my prayers and Consecration to his return.
I was raised in the 1990s in a Novus Ordo church built in the 1970s.. I moved away and decades later came back to The Church thanks to the Traditional Latin Mass.
I grew up catholic and cannot remember skipping church unless I’m sick or in vacation that there’s no church around. And I’m sad that my eldest son who joined the military stopped going to church. He’s mostly GSU tho. I pray he goes back to church. 🙏😇
Good morning. Thank you for having this kind of program , Catholic Talk Show . God bless you guys . Please help me pray for my daughter to return to the faith . She don’t believe to the Blessed Virgin Mary anymore . Thank you and God bless you .🙏🙏🙏
I absolutely agree with the cathechetical opportunity..one priest use to have a 5min catechesis just before the final prayer..a thought for the day...those little snippets were valuable ❤
I would love to "listen" but my kids (adults) don't even want to have a conversation. What do you do with that? And yes, I pray the Rosary and Chaplet every day, that God will send the right people into their lives who will lead them back (because it's obviously not me).
My last child has to work on Sunday to make rent . She’s in college and is fighting and very hard to remain. She knows better I think she believes but sometimes her actions don’t follow. The rosary and daily scripture saw us through covid very sad to see her fight for faith.
She can go another day to mass. She will be forgiven. Working on Sunday is no excuse in my eyes. Sorry, there is Saturday mass and mass during the week. Just saying.
The issue my husband has is all the things the Vatican has done to cover up stuff that has happened within the church. Hard for him to believe in church that covers up and changes things in the bible. I tell him that if he is a believer then he should just focus on the message and not on the actions of other humans. God is the word.
Its an excellent point. Its hard to believe that an institution whose highest members either are or have protected pedos and r*pists. These are the men who have done all the rituals that are supposed to fill and surround them with the protection of a HOLY spirit, but I guess its more of a HOLE-y spirit cause it didnt protect sh*t did it🤷 The vatican has a dedicated bank account with over a billion dollars in it, exclusively used to pay settlements for preist being accused of sexual crimes. Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Louisiana, and lots of other states have won class action lawsuits against diocese that cost the church hundreds of millions of dollars each. Why do you trust these wizard looking kiddie fvckers to tell you what's moral????
Ok. I have never heard of Lectio Divina until this year and now I hear it mentioned all of the time from all different sources. I love it! The first time I tried it I felt so connected with the reading. And I just feel like it deepens my relationship with God. I really think the Spirit is doing something here, moving more and more people to use it to bring them closer to God.
I made sure they were baptized, confession, holy communion, and confirmation. I made sure they went to catholic grammar school and catholic high school and they both dropped out. Dear Mother Mary, Please bring my children back to the Catholic church. In Jesus Name, We Pray!
My thoughts are many. All different reasons for different people. What I have experienced the most and this happened to myself is I married in the church and and got divorced. I truly believe in Jesus alive in the Eucharist. I always went to mass not receiving communion because I 16:34 knew I was in mortal sin as I was living in “ sin” with my second child’s father. Then we broke up, then more years of living in sin with my last partner of 11 years. At one point I had a dream I left the Catholic Church ( all the while pretty much attending, years) to go to the Grace Lutheran church because the pastor was so loving great and accepting of all. A few people transferred. I woke up in a sweat. How could I. I believe in the body and blood of Christ!! I am fortunate that I am able to receive holy communion now. I did not leave the church BUT I BELIEVE. It’s divorce and not being able to remarry with out an annulment that turns people away. They have LOVE in their hearts!! And then I could go into these which are so high on the list. Vatican 2, Early 60s and now there’s mercy. People really being born “ gay “. Hey I really don’t think people committed suicide because they weren’t,, It’s all about the heart. And people feel that they aren’t worthy because they love, real love, good clean life, good people, giving others, It’s hard to just not live your true life So I messed up in according to the Catholic Church but I never left. Also it’s confusing. Mercy mercy mercy but watch out!!!
Why are cradle Catholics like myself NOT TAUGHT the truths that converts learn? 16 years of Catholic schooling and sad how this channel and Fr. Calloway have learned so much
I am very grateful for being raised Christian, even if it was Protestant. My parents instilled in me a love for the Bible that I am very glad to possess, which has given me a solid foundation to join the Catholic church
Have faith! God has HIS ways! Trust in the Lord. Sometimes, think its not the children, husband etc test but a test of MY faith! May the Lord have mercy on all of us! Lord, please shower me with TONS of patience & strengthen my little faith! Thank you, Lord. Let it be done according to thy will , Lord. Amen
I never left the Catholic Church but there were times that it felt like I had been away from the Church. But thanks to some of my non-Catholic friends they kept me away from totally leaving the Church by defending her in some conversations especially when they would talk negatively about the Church. I thank Catholic Answers and all these kind of videos for ever strengthening my faith in the Catholic Church. I am now doing my best to nourish my relationship with God, with the Blessed Virgin Mary and all the Saints I know by following the Liturgy everyday, going to Mass every Sunday, Confessing my sins regularly, and some other Devotional prayers. I can say that I can never get enough of the Catholic Church, the Mystical Body of Christ. This is the One True Church Christ Instituted and by the grace of God I will never ever leave this Church.
I believe God gave us all individual traits that we can use for or against Him. Even the “negative” ones. As a mom of 3, 1 doubting teen (at least still goes with us as a family!!), two traits God gave both my doubting kid and I are extreme passion for what we do and a good deal of stubbornness. I’m using mine to enthusiastically pray, pray, pray. I tell God I’m like the widow in the parable where she kept bugging the judge to settle her claim and he finally got tired of her and did it to get her off his back. He gets to hear from me a lot! Lol one think is I do like they said and ask for God to use me or whoever it takes to keep my kids in the faith. I also ask St. Monica and our Blessed Mother Mary to add their prayers. I’ve had other things I’ve prayed for and God has not let me down yet. He won’t this time either.
My daughter 29:16 and my 4 grandchildren do not attend mass only at Christmas maybe Easter. Every time I question them they tell me they don’t get 29:11 anything out of it I try to explain that it’s like attending Gods invitation to his supper. They say they don’t get anything out of 28:57 the Mass. One wants a quiet Mass no music, a short homily prayers and go home. One has a lot of anxiety the other said he is Spiritual believes in God
I was raised Protestant and was in church weekly until age 18 when I nearly lost one parent and went off to college not knowing if she would live, then lost my father a year later. Crisis of faith. I rarely entered a church until after age 60 when I started attending a Catholic church with a friend. I almost walked out when a priest at the end of mass became political. Enter a gentle and welcoming new priest and last year I became Catholic at age 68. My half-brother's sweet (Protestant) grandmother had always told me that God and the church would be there for me when I was ready. She was right, just not the church she mught have anticipated. I really enjoy watching you all on TH-cam . There are many ways to walk through the world.
Leading by example as Jesus is the only way to bring back those whom left the faith. Prayers, fasting, doing for others and specially always reaching out to those whom left is important during our prayers and fasting practice. Never lose hope and always persevere in this special journey and watch how Gods work becomes the blessings that many was not expecting to see so soon🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼
Pray for my daughter, 17 years old, believes in God but has turned away from God and the church. Identifies as a boy and wants to get surgically changed once she’s over 18. Has depression and calls me delusional for my faith.
I’m so sorry. This is a multiple common problem. I would absolutely pray for her. Another thing you can do is to get rid of her social media apps. I’m about 10 years older than your daughter. I know what this landscape looks like. Finally, just let her know that you love her and that you are praying for her. Kids watch your actions.
I had a crisis of faith for 10 years. While I never denied God’s existence I was angry at Him for circumstances in my life I felt was unfair and while I still suffer them and still consider them unfair, it was also unfair to blame God for them and realized I needed God more than anyone. So I came back to Church! I am angry though I am coming back to a Church in utter chaos thanks to the leadership (or lack thereof) and we need stability in the organization but I am NOT leaving and I made peace with God! I came back right before Covid came and been with it ever since! I find Church building and the liturgy the one beautiful thing in this ugly nasty world! A one hour a week hermitage from this ugly nasty world!
Yes , our Catholic Church is reeling. But that’s what is supposed to happen. Why are we the only faith attacked . Because we are the one true church. The Devil is gearing all this negativity towards the Catholic Church hoping to bring it down. The Bible explains this - there will be few of his followers and many lost. Don’t lose faith , don’t give in. Keep the faith, stand with God . 🙏✝️
Close you door and enter a room where you can pray from your heart WITH and IN the Holy Spirit. Every day. Let the one true God change you from the inside out.
@@magdalenaramos7347 I think your church is probably attacked more often due to the fact that its gigantic and also the pedophilia thing, its definitely the pedophilia thing
You have made the point. Even in the Novus Ordo, "the Protestant-Catholic mass", the Holy Eucharist has been marginalized, set to the side of the alter, replaced by a chair for the priest in many churches. The Holy Sacrifice is handled by everyone, anyone, where particles of Christ's body are fallen to the ground or wiped onto the Lay person's clothing. The experiment has become a social gathering, a "picnic", instead of the bloodyless re-inactment of the Passion of Christ, where we are the witnesses, to which we are are beholding and saved by His sacrifice. Until the church returns to the strict Catholic forms and traditions, (before Archbishop Bugnini carried out the destruction begun by Martin Luther), the church will continue to be lukewarm and invalid. All children, no matter the age, need discipline.
I love the show guys! Wife and I are doing RCIA starting this month. I was wondering if you guys would do a show on Our Lady of Good Success. It seems particularly applicable to today’s cultural.
My husband SDA used to attend mass and my daughter but not anymore. My daughter finds church boring, how to bring them back. I tried to tell them, don"t leave just bec. of bad priest fr residential schools scenario..to date, I pray for their return, I would appreciate and look fwd to the day all 3 of go to church again🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I think it’s so important for all of us. Sleep example. It’s not just about going to church, but what we do outside of church. I know this because I mean I’m Catholic or my different religion who is very much interested in the church and is learning something new every day. I’ve been going to mass for 10+ years, but it shows like this one where I get most of my education. I’m also involves in a group of young adult Catholics from various parishes and we do activities together. Sometimes we go to mass and other times we have fellowship and we discuss the culture around us. We talk about movies and podcasts. We need to make a greater emphasis and priority on building relationships whether it’s families in the parish getting to know each other, or perhaps Priest visiting the families.
I would definitely need this book all but two of five of my kids have left the Catholic Church. I have been praying for them to return to the Catholic faith but they are too busy or they won’t go because of their spouse went to other churches. I just don’t know what to say to them. Thank you for writing this book
Keep praying. They will return one day. Tell them you are praying for them. I tell mine (four) all the time. If they ask me if I would like something...I say sure. Come to mass with me. And they do.
The only reason I am Catholic still is because of the TLM. The more I looked into the TLM, the more I found it to be the most authentic expression of the Catholic faith, the only mass that I actually see what the Church Fathers taught, and all the greatest saints. I went to the NO and the focus was not on Christ, it was on community and meal. Not love, sacrifice, or truth. Tl:dr, Tridentine Mass, and reading Church Fathers kept me Catholic.
I haven't left the church, and I don't plan to. But I have a couple issues. First is that the cup is not offered during Communion. I came into the church through RCIA in the 1990s. The cup was offered. This was a big issue for me, and I was happy with my decision. Fast-forward to COVID, and the cup is no longer offered. (I am aware that the cup was not offered to the laity for many years, but it was offered when I was received into the church--this strikes me as a bait-and-swith.) Health of communicants is cited as the reason. COVID transmits through air droplets, not sharing a cup. I have not had communion for three-and-a-half years; I have appealed to the powers-that-be, detailing my turmoil, and it falls on deaf ears. This brings me to the second, which is related: the clergy is unresponsive to the needs of their flock. They are reluctant to engage meaningfully with those in need of pastoral care. This leads to the third, which is that if one does not march in lockstep with what the clergy requires, one is dismissed, ignored, and even condemned. I am not speaking about core spiritual values. I was told I could not continue as a minister of the Word unless I increased my financial giving (I can't give more; I'm on Social Security). Likewise, I was pulled out of training to be a Eucharistic minister, and, with others, was no longer allowed to participate in teaching RCIA classes. I came into the church with my eyes wide open, and I love being Catholic. However, it is increasingly difficult to feel a part of the church.
I disagree a small amount. People do cease to be catholic in part because they want to sin-it isn’t a coincidence people fall off around the age when they discover pornography. When I fell away I never would have said that-I said it was because I didn’t believe-but it’s because I didn’t want to believe. I wanted to sin. And I stumbled across 1-2 atheist arguments and believed it unquestioningly.
Thank you so much. We are heart broken and many times despondant with yhe choices my daughter has made. But thank you for recentering us and bring it back to where are we with our relationship with Christ. Thank you for this resource.
My daughter also said this is her reason for leaving. There are scandals in all religions. We just don’t hear about them in the anti Catholic media. I mean can you believe that only priests do these awful things. I truly do believe the church is dealing with this issue. Although a little too late albeit.
I hv also similar problem like they hv no time to go to church inspite of telling them of going to church to attend mass but falls on deaf ears. So I am praying that my nephews nd nieces wil hv to go back to d habit that we used to do when they were young. They studied at catholic schools but I think wid this generation s one that influences them to ignore their duties as catholics. I just continue to pray for them to go back in going to church that we used to be. Please help me pray thku.
I'm Jewish and I love listening to this show because we have so many of the same problems but we think about them differently. For example, we don't believe someone could "leave" Judaism even if they tried. There's no "Church" of believers to the exclusion of the lapsed, only a House of Israel to which every Jew belongs regardless of what they believe about themselves or about God. Thus, an unobservant Jew is never considered "lapsed" or asked to "return" to anything; they're simply invited to perform whatever mitzvah (sacramental action) is waiting to be done, which may take only a few seconds. If they're given enough such opportunities, it becomes a pattern of behavior and the spiritual connection returns. The Catholic Church works very differently, but perhaps this method could work there too. I'm sure there are plenty of Catholic traditions that people can be reintroduced to in a fun and inviting way without the immediate pressure to come back to the Church and its Sacraments (although I understand the desire to make that happen since salvation is at stake). Through these experiences, people can be exposed to the example of the faithful. If they find the example to be one worthy of emulating, they will. But no amount of evangelism or catechesis will make up for a failure to provide positive role models. We can't convert others, we can only convert ourselves and hope others follow our lead.
@@CatholicTalkShowam a convert to the Catholic faith from Buddhism / Taoism. It had never ceased to amaze and pains me : 1. The Catholic Church - Vatican, clergy and laity don't seem to care about people leaving on excuses like its their religious liberty, its their freedom of choice, don't worry one day they will come back 2. Few or no one puts into practice the parable of the lost sheep when Jesus leaves the 99 and look after the one lost sheep. 3. The ex Catholics form the 2nd largest religious group after Catholics. The Protestants form the 3rd largest. 4. Catholics are poorly catechized. Low % know their faith and don't have a relationship with Jesus. They don't know why but just do blindly. They are sacramentalized but not evangelized. 5. Many priests are afraid and wary of apologetics so Catholics don't know a reason for their faith contrary to 1 Peter 3:15. 6. According to PEW research , Mass attendance drops by half every 10 years according to PEW Research. Do the majority of Catholics and clergy give a shit about the above ????
Reacting at the beginning of the clip: How do you act if your older brother left by choosing SSPX and converted your mom as well? This broke me to the core because to them I am doomed by staying in the Novus Ordo./Vatican 2 church.
I believe authenticity in the mass is important. Going to traditional latin mass and giving the complete focus on God makes a great difference. There is too many ideas how to bring more faithful into the church. God knows how to bring people closer to Him we do not need to add gimmicks to mass just give complete focus on God.
"Blessed is the crisis that made you grow, the fall that made you gaze up to heaven, the problem that made you look for God!" - St. Padre Pio That happened to me. Born and raised in a non practicing catholic family I dropped out and started listening to protestant preachers, Jimmy Swaggart and the like. When I was already married (in the Catholic Church) Aand had my two daughters started attending an Evangelical Church, I left it. It was not what I expected, everything very emotional, but that was it. Things were not going well, faith was fading away until I joined a Pentecostal Church, more of the same but noisier. I went adrift, practically leaving the faith whatsoever and asking God which was His Church. Years went by, my habits were non holy, went abroad to work and something happened, very seroius matter. Spent some years on the same path, this problem was "sieging" me, and could not find a way out. One day, in March 2019, I was walking with my wife in downtown and felt the necessity of entering a Catholic Church. I went inside, nobody was there. I stood up by the first seats and tears began to roll down my face, I felt the sensation of returning home... Some days after I had my general confession and went to Mass for the first time, willing to do so. The serious situation continues, my point of view changed, my faith is growing, Our Lord is GREAT. Today I ask God that my whole family is touched in their hearts by the Holy Spirit. My kids are not in the Church. I am not giving up praying for them. God Bless you all.
What about a child who wants to move in with their girlfriend? Also then plans on getting married outside the Church? Do I stay away from the house they bought and not attend wedding? I just learned from Father Isaac that I should not participate. This is a hard cross! My faith has grown stronger the last few years and so I am learning about this among many other things. (Holy Spirit led me) Yes, satan has put me in the state of regret and now I am giving it all to Mary and the Sacred Heart. Husband is getting on board too.Can you give some ideas for sacrificing outside of weekly mass, First Saturdays, frequent confession, prayer, and fasting? Have to get your book.
My question is not “why are you not practicing “ so much as “why is your faith no longer a priority in your life and in your family?” In order to grow in your faith you have to make the effort to make it a priority.
If you raise your kids in the Church from birth...they'll never leave. Sure, they'll naturally question Catholicism....but they'll always come back. Especially your daughters.
Actually it depends on a lot of things. But the example of the parents, especially of the fathers, is important. Also the politicization of religion is not helping I gather. This applies to USA but also other countries and cultures.
This is so painful I have been praying , and fasting for years and none of our four children are in the church .Their ages 63,61, 56 and 45 years away from the church since age of 20's. Of course therefore grand and great grands know little about Jesus and His church.
The issue is lack of humility. We do not attend Mass for ourselves or for what we want. We attend Mass for Christ and for others. Ask people why they left the Catholic Church, and the first thing they say is “I”
In my opinion, a big reason that so many young people shift from Catholicism to Evangelicalism is that the Evangelical people focus on the JOY of the Lord, being in His Presence. We Catholics are so focused on being properly reverential toward God that we cower down away from Him groveling in the dirt. "Oh God I am a worm" type attitude. I had that hammered into me as a cradle Catholic, going to Catholic grammar school. It stresses FEAR of the LORD rather than JOY in the LORD. Joy is much more attractive than fear. At Mass there is so much self-repression. All power for worshiping is given to the priest while the people humbly. meekly, quietly in a very respectful and repressed emotional state, just follow along rather than actively being part of the worship and celebration. Evangelicals co-create the spirit of worship with all the people present. There's no separation between the people. All are together. There's no big gap between the celebrant priests and the spectator congregation. I also think the spirit of Joy is lacking in the Church so I combine the Daily Mass and spiritual Communion with singing praise and worship songs from Christian bands who are generally Evangelical. Fine with me. Jesus said, "I have other flocks you know not of." As far as I'm concerned my Christian brothers and sisters are all part of God's family and Christ's Kingdom.

Good for you Friend! Jesus is always there waiting with love and patience that His children will return. God Bless you!

Same with my four adult children. I will pray for yours, please pray for mine.
Remember St Monica and St Augustine. Pray without ceasing.
Me too. Praying for you.

I left the church after my Confirmation and 13 years later I’ve returned. All because my mother sent me an episode of the Catholic Talk Show
Which episode?
@@irishscorpio1966 It was the Hot Ones challenge episode. Then from there I watched the one about the history of Catholicism and alcohol. After that, I became fascinated and it reawakened my faith

As a cradle protestant, please understand that you (Catholics) are a part of something beautiful & ancient & very important that unites you and plugs you into something that opens doors & gives you camaraderie and culture beyond your nationality or social hierarchy. I am envious.

As a protestant (I'm trying to leave it) it's a mangled mess.
I have never been able to meet genuine people.
The music, the vibe, the people all seem extremely fake and corny and it embarrasses all Christians in my opinion.
Don't take for granted what you got. God bless!
Praying for you!
@@brendabruckner7833 - I appreciate it and God bless You and Your family
I am going through this same thing with my adult children.
What an amazing mother and grandmother you must be 🙏 Thank you so much for sharing you have really encouraged me to continue to pray for my family, my children also ask me to pray for them and their friends!! Your comment was a real blessing to me ❤️ sending prayers to you 🙏
I named my daughter after St Monica. My daughter has left the church and I pray to St Monica every day.
They lie about our church. It’s all over the internet and the younger generation believes it. It’s heartbreaking
GBR!
We pray that our families turn to Our Lord and come back to him✝️🙏🙏
Probably devastating for your children that you think so little of them
AWESOME SHOW!

How I wish I could change that.
would you be happy if she became a born again Christian in say Grace Community Church? Or would you prefer that she much rather became Roman Catholic?
1 Timothy 2:5 King James Version: _For there is one God, and _*_one mediator_*_ between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;_
The idea that Mary is the intercessor is heretical. Please, listen to the bible, not extra-biblical, erroneous human tradition. The bible is God's word -spoken to men who wrote down what they were moved by. The text is clear - Jesus said to the Sadducees : "Have you not read what was SPOKEN unto you by God, saying.."(Matt 22:31)
*Listen to what GOD says,* do not listen to what disbelieving and heretical men pretends God has said.
Dear, I and my husband were not lukewarm Catholics and our son stopped practicing his faith I think because of his secular friends and girlfriend … it breaks our hearts … 😢this program gave me a encourage not to despair…I hope and pray your children will come back to one holy Catholic faith.

In the meantime I am starting to fast and continue to trust and
pray.
And now I will be able to ask the question "What happened?"
If it makes you feel better, I fell away from the church for 20 years. Now, I go to mass everyday.
What are our Parishes doing on this problem?
Keep praying. They'll return....one day.
Please, don’t blame yourself. You did what you could. Pray for them and continue to love them. 🙏
Thank you for sharing it's so hard to get our kids to mass⚘🙏⚘I pray for them tirelessly ⚘
Ambrose you my Ambrose ⚘🙏⚘⚘🙏⚘🙏⚘🙏👆👆👆my love 💙💛 you could do it 👆💚
I was baptized a Catholic in Central America but I went to the beach every Sunday not to church.
Hi,
This is a problem we have prayed over for many years.

I need this book. I also want to give it to friends & family who have left the church. Pray that they will read it when it arrives
Then leave them be and pray.

These are the men who have done all the rituals that are supposed to fill and surround them with the protection of a HOLY spirit, but I guess its more of a HOLE-y spirit cause it didnt protect sh*t did it🤷
The vatican has a dedicated bank account with over a billion dollars in it, exclusively used to pay settlements for preist being accused of sexual crimes.
Great! 😀
Hey I really don’t think people committed suicide because they weren’t,,
It’s all about the heart. And people feel that they aren’t worthy because they love, real love, good clean life, good people, giving others,
It’s hard to just not live your true life
So I messed up in according to the Catholic Church but I never left.
Also it’s confusing. Mercy mercy mercy but watch out!!!
Perhaps watch Mr Ray Comfort doing evangelistic work??? Get a new lease on life.
Why are cradle Catholics like myself NOT TAUGHT the truths that converts learn? 16 years of Catholic schooling and sad how this channel and Fr. Calloway have learned so much
I left 40 odd years ago as a 16 year old, one of my best moves I ever did.
I am very grateful for being raised Christian, even if it was Protestant. My parents instilled in me a love for the Bible that I am very glad to possess, which has given me a solid foundation to join the Catholic church
Listening to this I ordered Brandon Vogt’s book and it just came. I hope the answer is there. I pray every day for their return.
Sounds like you’re already back home from being present and listening to the talk show 🙏
🙏unceasingly 🙏for my children to have time to go to church 🙏
Never stop praying
Hi from New Zealand, another great show. Keep up the good work!
I pray all of my kids who are reunited with the church remain and those that have not, they do so soon.
🙏🙏
Thank you so much!! I cant wait to read it!!
Praying for my uncle!!🙏🙏🙏🙏
I would definitely need this book all but two of five of my kids have left the Catholic Church. I have been praying for them to return to the Catholic faith but they are too busy or they won’t go because of their spouse went to other churches. I just don’t know what to say to them. Thank you for writing this book
Keep praying. They will return one day. Tell them you are praying for them. I tell mine (four) all the time. If they ask me if I would like something...I say sure. Come to mass with me. And they do.
@@maryrankin9869 so you're blackmailing them?
I am a kind of person that looking for old tradition way of Catholic Church!
What to do if your child and yourself left together… it is so freeing and liberating
Beautiful Brendan
I disagree a small amount. People do cease to be catholic in part because they want to sin-it isn’t a coincidence people fall off around the age when they discover pornography. When I fell away I never would have said that-I said it was because I didn’t believe-but it’s because I didn’t want to believe. I wanted to sin. And I stumbled across 1-2 atheist arguments and believed it unquestioningly.
Thank you so much. We are heart broken and many times despondant with yhe choices my daughter has made. But thank you for recentering us and bring it back to where are we with our relationship with Christ. Thank you for this resource.
Hi love this show 🤗🥰🙏🏻 much needed info.
I can only speak for our Catholic schools. I went and was lucky I "got it". We never had regular praying, we were never told about Revelations 12.
I’ve heard many complaints from folks that are angry about the scandals .
I need that deal I need that book for my child and I know 2 of my friends have same struggle

@@CatholicTalkShowam a convert to the Catholic faith from Buddhism / Taoism. It had never ceased to amaze and pains me :
1. The Catholic Church - Vatican, clergy and laity don't seem to care about people leaving on excuses like its their religious liberty, its their freedom of choice, don't worry one day they will come back
This broke me to the core because to them I am doomed by staying in the Novus Ordo./Vatican 2 church.
im 15 and all my family has left the church
I hope your faith is still strong! ❤🎉
I believe authenticity in the mass is important. Going to traditional latin mass and giving the complete focus on God makes a great difference. There is too many ideas how to bring more faithful into the church. God knows how to bring people closer to Him we do not need to add gimmicks to mass just give complete focus on God.
"Blessed is the crisis that made you grow, the fall that made you gaze up to heaven, the problem that made you look for God!"
- St. Padre Pio
That happened to me.
Pray for them
What about a child who wants to move in with their girlfriend?
Evidence?
Actually it depends on a lot of things. But the example of the parents, especially of the fathers, is important. Also the politicization of religion is not helping I gather. This applies to USA but also other countries and cultures.
Well 1: This is super fucking creepy. and 2: Evidently untrue as the majority of all atheists were born to Christian parents
Thanks!
