    Did you know?
If you use the guard action, it will double your attack power for the next attack. And guess what? This effects STACKS. So basically, have one character guard up and other buff up/ heal and boss fights will be a breeze.
Also always convert your gold into gems from merchants whenever you leave town. They can be resold at full value anytime and you do not lose them unlike your gold. That way, dying doesnt become a big deal.

I’ve always played it as the Wilme/Valsu combo, grinding it out pretty early for Elixir. My best friend managed two different save files as Lejes joined by Valsu, making quite the power duo. He passed away 5 months ago and his save file is still on my SNES cartridge after all these years and it will remain for as long as I live.

I'm off the opinion that Wilme/valsu is the optimized set up. That being said they are also the characters I find the least interesting. I like playing as Leges with Kamil as a second. I also like Kamil solo or playing as Esuna with whoever as my second.

      Cause LeJes is nerfed.
He doesn't have enough choices of spells. His magic isn't as strong as Esuna or Valsu.

Theres some misinformation in this video but i kind of expected that to be honest.
The whole olvan is the slowest is a bit unfair. Hes no slower than kamil or lux.
Also he doesn't have the lowest magic growth thats wilme.
Lejes stat growth isnt worse than kamil in any area and it's better in some. His biggest issue is his gear choices.
Im pretty sure wilme isn't weak to fire in fact I'm pretty sure he actually resists it but his magic stat is so low it usually doesn't matter.

Needless to say, I agree with your top two choices. :)

A good video for an overlooked RPG. I played with Kamil first time around and then Olaf. My playthrough with Kamil was a bit rough though I used Valsu both times due to his Elixir spell. Unfortunately, for me, I was turned off by Wilme and Lux due to their low gear variety. You'd think not having to buy gear would be a good selling point... well not for kid me.
If I had played the game again, it might have been with Esuna, but the grind was too much for me to play again. Once to try it out, a second to try better, and my younger brother playing Lux was enough for me.

      @@questionablebackyardmeows Not Really. SPOILERS:
In the original timeline, Gorsia steals your runes and sends you back. From then on it is a different timeline, one where Gorsia beat Saro (the good God) and didn't end up wounded and hidden. In this timeline you regather the runes and seal Gorsia of this timeline, but he kills you. Saro reincarnates you as Lemelee, and you're now immortal. In this new Timeline, you are the king, and there's no need to gather runes to defeat anyone. It ends where it started full circle, but it's not a time loop. You are the immortal king and peace was achieved. There's no need to send (or gather) aprentinces. You just become king and rule the new present in which you reincarnated. It's a different timeline.

My own tier list for 7th Saga Characters, worst to best:
    7. Lejes - Faster than Kamil, with more magic, but overall just sorta meh.
    6. Valsu - Like, yeah, sure, every buffing spell and Elixir. Whoopdee do! He couldn't fight his way out of a crowded booth at Denny's, if you ask me. The reason I rate him so low is that due to his low offensive capability, he basically doesn't work well without a partner. I've tried using him a few times, and just find him to be relatively disappointing, but that may be due to how he is in the early game. It's been so long since I've even considered using him seriously that I sometimes forget he exists. Plus there's the fact that you have the runes to buff you for a large portion of the game, anyway.
    5. Olvan - An otherwise great character, but lacks so much speed that it really sorta hurts him.
    4. Kamil - The all rounder, pretty good at all things. Kind of the basis for what's good and what's bad imo.
    3. Lux - He has notably lower speed than Wilme, so while he gets the same buffing benefit for offense and has far better magic, his lower speed causes him to miss a lot more often. If you choose him as your main, he's about as slow as Olvan :( You can also do the Melenam glitch with him, causing him to have max stats, which is something often done in speedruns of the game. I don't like it at all, though, so it kind of hurts him in my eyes.
    2. Esuna - She's incredible. Super fast, great magic, and a great compliment to any duo. However, she lacks durability, especially early on where she's not dodging routinely. Once she's got enough of that, though, she can get insane with the buffs, and having such high speed. Not too mention instant death and healing.
    1. Wilme - He's super fast and super strong, and in the JP version he is NAKED. His hair is also a horn in that version. His only real weakness is his low magic stat, but generally his speed makes up for it. I've never felt bad about using him.
My first playthrough of the game was done with a Wilme / Lux team, and the only snag I ran into was that Esuna was the one who stole/obtained that one rune. So once I found her, Wilme was in for quite the pitched battle, against someone as fast as him, with a strength that exploits his weakness. Not too mention the Eldenard Stats.
In the end, like FF1, the tier list is mostly useless though, unless you're doing some sort of challenge run or restricting item use or something. And in those cases, the line up of tiers would also change, so it's kind of whatever. Any character can beat the game, some just do it better for most of it, than others.

Watching the recent 7th Saga run on RPG Limit Break, and listening to all of the explanations of deliberate changes in the game I no longer believe that the level up bonuses being gone are a bug. What a fun video for one of my favourite RPG! I think my ranking would be from worst to best: Lejes, Olvan, Kamil, Lux, Wilme, Esuna, Valsu. Speed is one of the most important factors because with enough of it, enemies will miss you and you will hit them , which really adds up over time. That is why Wilme is hugely powerful in my opinion. I will always have a soft spot for Olvan; he was my very first character/playthrough! I think Valsu edges out Esuna in my ranking because of his super healing and getting the Agility spell. He is less balanced that Esuna as a magic user. I loved listening to Lux clanking after I got used to it, but remember being a bit shocked when I realised it would last the whole game!

7th Saga is one of my favorite, nostalgic RPGs. I was given this game when I was a kid, never beat it at age 7. Revisited it years later (11? 12?) and beat it then.
After this game, all jrpgs are a breeze really.

I settled on Lux back when it came out because he was the only character not to get one shotted early on. Kamil was boring to me, Olvan a bit better. Lejes and Wilne were the most fun.
Btw; 7th Saga's character and monster stats were all screwed up in the localisation from Elnard to this game.
In Elnard, they were actually like the game manual describes.

Lux and Wilme are the simplest however Wilme easily gets killed by fire magic so maybe pick Lux for the absolute easiest time.
As Partners Valsu and Lejes are pretty good.
    As your main character :
Lux Wilme Esuna Olvan Valsus Lejes Kamil
Only Kamil really sucks and Lejes is pretty fragile
    As partners
Lejes Valsu Lux Olvan Esuna Wilme Kamil
Olvan has two bonus dungeons if you take him as partner too if you want to get side quests.

It turns out that Lejes is amazing at soloing the game. I tried this out a few years ago and had a surprisingly easy time. He has strong magic to clear out mobs, high speed to dodge most attacks by late game, and decent physical attack for bosses. Bonus: he has fire spells so he can quickly defeat a really annoying late-game boss that is only weak to fire. The only two parts of the game that were really hard were Red-Pison (b/c you need to beat him at a low level to avoid having to grind excessively before Patrof) and the final boss (whose attack and magic hit so hard it's basically up to the RNG whether you live long enough to debuff him and buff yourself). Everything else was just as easy as a normal playthrough and you level up a lot faster solo.

I am currently playing main Luxe with Kamil second. This keeps a mid difficulty without having to grind as much. Just enough healing magic to sustain, and attack magic for physical resist enemies, but plenty of HP and physical attack to not turn every common encounter into a chess match. If you want to barbar dmash the game, i recommend this combo

  • @kashmir5173
    @kashmir5173 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

I played this using Wilme as main char and Valsu as companion, for me they are the best duo in the game, or arguably even to Lux Valsu duo. Using other duo combination, is like you just want to add more difficulty in the game, while having the excitement experience of getting or buying new stronger equips.

Lejes had great evasion too, but when he got hit, he was done for. He had to overwhelm the enemy with his spells or attack because that was high too, to be good. I beat the game with the Alien Wilme Pelin alone with no partners as a kid. Wilme was the strongest though. I couldn't get past a dungeon halfway into the game with Lejes, under some castle. He just couldn't do it alone, solo, even if I leveled there. Waking up in the new world in that game was refreshing and interesting, leading onto the end of the game. I don't know why but just before the final boss there was a certain magic to that part. Pyson coming back to get revenge, 7th Saga was a great game.

  • @Thenineoh
    @Thenineoh 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Lejes should be #5. He basically has all the offensive spells, and his attack is pretty much on par with Kamil. He doesn't have buffs, but that's basically almost a non-factor once you get the star and moon runes. Besides B Pwr and B protect are pretty cheap and I always buy those. He also has good Spd so he doesn't miss as much as Kamil / Olvan and dodges more often. He doesn't have the highest Magic stat, but having access to all the offensive magics make him good against regular enemies. In boss fights, Star / Moon rune using def / atk pretty much is enough to win em all.

  • @BlankSpacePub
    @BlankSpacePub 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Even though Leges has his flaws, if you’re careful when he levels up not to accept poor stat boosts, he ends up being a fun character with well-rounded attack power. Whenever I play as Leges, I like to team up with Valsu (which can be difficult to make happen-a demon working with a healer). That way you have the ultimate black mage with decent physical attack teaming up with the ultimate white mage-the best of both worlds. Anyway, I largely agree with your ranking, but the Elixer spell completely nerfs the game when you have enough MP to cast it on your companion and then on Valsu, meaning that you will literally never die unless you happen to receive an unlucky critical hit death blow. You’re basically immortal at this point. So I would rank Valsu as number 1 for this reason.

    The answer is Esuna.
I've never beaten this game, I had a friend who was raised on RPGs because his dad worked in Telecom as a Supervisor and made $$$$$$$$ at the time so he bought a ton of consoles. I was never taught how to play these kinds of games or how to "get into them" so it was a lot of words and more experiencing the world from the perspective of something like a baby than actually playing the game. I got quite frustrated and if I remember right, even replaying it on emulator much later I still only ever got to some coastal town and never even got a single Rune.
My friend did however, beat the game as a "family" with his older brother and his Dad(who slapped the game silly as a Wizardry player) giving him tips, so... yep, I'm coping.

Not that I disagree with the list. But it kinda defeats the point of how to play the game. You can always have 2 characters in the game. There are points of the game where some of these characters just don't work. Bringing esuna into the cave of silence is a death sentence without one of the fighter boys. I believe Lux is useless at one point in the game because he's a tetujin. Wilme has ups and downs in power spikes. Everybody is weak at some point in the game, so like...sure, esuna can own at the game until she gets to cave of silence and literally has to run from everything because she can't cast spells.

The concept of this game is awesome. 7 characters on a quest for 7 runes of power. I played the 1993 original with Kamil, Lejes, LUX and Esuna. Leveled them up to 81 each (max level... sort of...). Loved it !
A remake of this game would be awesome. They could ditch the turn-based combat for a real-time action based combat. A "soulsborne" type of combat would be perfect.

I actually loved every character for their simple yet unique approach to the game. Unlike today's games where every character can do everything. I personally had Valsu as #1 because he's got the most OP skill in the game and can't be killed. He can be paired with literally anyone because every other character has some sort of hard hitting ability, while, if you use any other character as a main, you're probably looking for Valsu as your main companion. Vaslu established to me how important healers are long before MMOs were even thought about.

I'd swap out Kamil for Lejes, but otherwise I agree with the list.
Kamil's do-it-all approach in a game with such tight difficulty is actually a disadvantage. He always needs a partner to buoy him late-game. Meanwhile, my first solo run was casually done with Lejes. The terrible defense only bothered me early on against enemies like Pison.
