    You're just looking for different aspects than the judges do in terms of feeling of the music, it's not really bias, just preferences in dance. That's the really great thing about judges that have different perspectives in a dancer's skills, that's what dance events need, that's why I love Fusion so much for their judges, harboring different styles.
    For me I agree to an extent with the judges, but I can't judge fairly for one reason : I didn't see the front of what Larry was doing to make up my whole judgement, but from what I saw, Larry's footwork was pretty complex and diverse, which gave him an edge in the first and third round. Because when you compare it to Rubix... Ok hear me out : he's good at what he does, he can do all sorts of crazy and lively movements and contorsions with his body, but his footwork is almost non existent. I feel like that's a contrast between the two that is almost impossible to not take in consideration, because it makes Rubix look sloppier against a dancer like Larry that has a lot of control in his legs and feet, and can kill the beat like Rubix.
    So personally, Larry won it fair and square, in both encounters, but bear with me (pun not intended), I think Rubix might have a bigger chance in winning against Laurent. Call me crazy, but I'll stand by my theory haha

      Ok yeah I might have rushed on my post there. I meant that based on what I saw, I agreed with the judges' consensus on each round. From what I saw, I could tell what was the definitive factor in Larry's win and what separated him from Rubix's skills, but if I were to judge I wouldn't be able to make a definitive decision on each round because I'm missing a lot of information and concepts from both dancers simply because I'm not looking at them upfront. This battle was really tight when I first watched it, and I thought that each round could have gone either way. I just deduced what the judges saw in this battle that I didn't. I love to analyze other's perspective on dance, helps me understand battles way more

      I fuck with your comments snag. You spoke on footwork and I can see that being a factor as well as not being able to see what he did towards the judges, but even with what I might've missed I can't imagine it was anything that topped what I did see from rubix. Footwork was solid too real smooth. If I had to tally shit up tho in categories I see rubix doing way more at a high level so I just can't see how Larry takes this one. I appreciate your perspective tho for real

      No worries man, It would be boring if we all had the same opinion. I'm telling you we'd have opposing views every time if we ever had the chance to judge together haha (but that's what so interesting about perspective, and fun too). It's with those oppositions that we can understand one another, and the culture as well. 5 years I've been studying hip hop with only videos at hand, I'm surprised on the amount that I learned and the skills I developped.
      Would absolutely love to lab with ya man someday 👌

      Snag Nah I agree with metal Larry’s new style is lacking in the flow department. If you watch his judges demos is solely beatkilling and body control with a bit of footwork and signature moves. This NEW larry is not creative watch his Montreal workshop freestyle or all his juste debout demos it’s ALL the same moves I usually don’t have a problem if it’s signature moves but it isn’t even signature moves. For example I remember a freestyle larry did the glitch move 3 times in the same freestyle.

    Ah, I love this battle. I actually gave the first to Rubix and the last 2 to Larry. Cleanliness, footwork and consistency with how he rode the songs was what made me give Larry the edge.
    Round 1: Goes to either, but I feel like this was Rubix's most technical and clean round. He rivaled even Larry in Larry's strong points
    Round 2: To me, Larry straight bodied him here. Everyone seems to overlook how strong this round was from Larry. Rubix's response was the most noteworthy thing in this battle, but I still don't think he took the round.
    Round 3: This one was a clear Larry on all fronts. Rubix was gassed
    They'll have to run this back though :)()

    The reason Larry won the battle is because of the cleanliness and his Technique. Though Rubix has power and aggression and that can win a crowd over easy doesn't secure the win. I feel if Rubix battled another dancer with the same energy then it would have been a different outcome. I compare this to someone in Hip-Hop vs a B-Boy. Though a B-boy has a lot of tricks and power moves doesn't mean it will be a guaranteed win. Sometimes Cleanliness and Technique will take over Power and Aggression because it's nicer to look at. To me Rubix won the battle but for the reasons above I think that's why he lost.

    • @metalspalace
      @metalspalace  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Rubix wasn't straight tricks and power tho. The power and aggression label people put on him it's as if that's a negative instead of a positive. the twins have straight power moves they use all the time with no build up. I just don't see how Larry wins and what rounds was he beating rubix but I hear you for your opinion. I appreciate it man

    I believed the same thing. I saw it and was like "Rubix won that for sure." And even after rewatching it, He EASILY won that.
    People gotta understand consistent flow, consistent groove, timing, implementation of concepts, movement vocabulary, etc. Rubix knows how to build the ENERGY. And people who know how to do that very well already have their groove and flow down...so they add in some concepts that are timed perfectly and it makes a hard round to beat.
    Not to mention Rubix's rounds have more dynamics, substance, and movement vocabulary. On top of the groove and flow I just mentioned. It's weird that people can't see it, cause to me it's almost non comparable.
    Rubix did win.

      This is what a lot of Twins fans don’t understand not saying you I have been like this before but Rubix here had more groove and was moving with the music while larry was on beat but not connected he was just dishing out some signatures and beatkills same case with their Fusion Concept 2019 battle you can see rubix flowing and larry just stuck in the same set a battle/ freestyles are supposed to be mostly grooving beatkilling is good but only when done right which is why dancers groove and build up their beatkilling move not just hitting beats all round then it gets boring

    I would of given that to rubix as well, from the first 2 rounds, rubix was hitting like you said, more free, had a lot of unique moves and was really feeling it. Not taking anything away from larry as a dancer, of course hes amazing, but it feels like sometimes hes being to technical and not having any freedom, where as in this battle rubix was free, but also new when to slow it down and regain his rythem. here's the thing, in terms of power moves, Rubix definitely won, but there are two other aspects he lacks when he battles, first its fluidity and transitions, when he battles he's just jumping from power move to power move without any smooth transition that fits the song, second aspect is adaptation and control, you gotta go with the flow of the music and keep your moves clean at the same time, this requires mental strength and experience, Rubix loses control most of the time and messes up the entire flow. And i still believe that when it comes to flow, BouBou is still number one in the game.

    • @Killer-mx7tr
      @Killer-mx7tr 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also don't forget Larry is almost 10 years older than Rubix, so it's logical that the judges shift their attention to musicality/flow when they're analyzing Larry

    • @Killer-mx7tr
      @Killer-mx7tr 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you can say its more of a technicality vs power moves type of thing, and imo veteran judges will always go for technicality because it requires much more skills from the dancer (aka control, mental fortitude, experience, transitions), power moves are only cool like once or twice each round, otherwise you become very exhausted and you start to lose control and mess up the flow.

    Hi, the "i've seen that move already " argument is so irrelevant to me :D I've watched so many videos of both Larry and Rubix that i've seen all of their moves from this battle. How Larry constructs his round just look more proffessional and well thought out. Def enjoying Your vids though :)

    • @metalspalace
      @metalspalace  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The argument has weight, at least when I speak on it, because it depends on how they incorporate it in their dance. It's natural that the more you see something the less impact it has and when I say we seen that one, if it was dished out with no build up or nothing tweaked, enhanced, feel, anything, I see it as a waste and overall a combination of random things thrown out. I made previous comments on Les Twins videos NOT HATING but that Larry’s new style 2019-2020 is lackluster it’s solely beatkilling, body control etc and I got SO MUCH HATE!! there is no feel, groove and connection to the music it’s just the beats. Larry in 2020 is stiff and relies on body control he’s not really dancing unlike Laurent who’s creative but still maintains flow and musicality. Thanks for this video
