Man. I feel they really reversed roles as time went on. Classic Larry was so free and animated in his dance but he still had the same understanding of music he does now. Though in straying from this more chaotic/unconfined style I definitely think he became a better all-style dancer over hip-hop because his structure and technique is extremely well pronounced and more identifiable I'd say. Laurent's progression is crazy because he assimilated so many different styles as time went on and managed to adapt them all really well with his own. Giving him extraordinary creative control. Laurent got that soul and groove. Which imo made him the better Hip-hop Dancer. So I got classic Larry over classic Laurent but modern Laurent over modern Larry imo
Even back then I still preferred Laurent's style. He has so much creativity and soul in his dance. You can see that every style that he has picked up throughout the years has culminated to his extremely diverse and adaptable dance vocabulary.
I never realized how cold Laurent was until I started to understand dance a little better. He became my favorite in 2019, then I started to back and realize the growth he had and like all his styles over the years over Larry's other than in 2014

ALWAYS has been Laurent for me! Old Larry is my favorite version of Larry even though I LOOOVVVEEE him now, but LAURENT?????? Old Laurent, new Laurent, in between Laurent, always has been my favorite Laurent. He is always so creative, so unpredictable, so exciting to watch. But I always say, Larry, live and in person, is a phenomenon to behold. The energy that comes off of him is electrifying. They are both more than spectacular! But why Laurent? When I watch him, I'm mesmerized by his flow, his movement choices, and his creativity. I cannot take my eyes off of him or even blink or breath sometimes because I don't want to miss whatever he might create! He makes it all look so easy, so fun, he seems joyful when he dances. His technique is every bit as intricate as Larry's, just different. Laurent's connection to the music, and the kinds of music he chooses to dance to, is particularly extraordinary. I just think he is willing, and effectively able, to explore any genre and to appreciate what the music has to offer to him as a dancer, and along the way he helps me to appreciate the music in a new or better or different way. I think he is an extraordinary talent that I'm fortunate to get to experience.
Videos like this where you get to cover multiple videos and deconstruct the dance in small intervals along the way are some of my favorite. You're doing great stuff here and with time I'm hoping it inspires more eyes towards what dance has to offer beyond fan favorites and big events.
At the end of the day, they are different. But the freedom I see in Laurent's movement makes him have no bounds for where he can go. Larry to me is still sharpening the same spear, and maybe have shed off layers in the process.
Can't get enough of Larry!!! But Laurent takes you somewhere. Laurent can make you get lost and when it's over you realizing 'damn' was I holding my breathe. Laurent is an experience.
Love to see the same emotions coming out even when we revisit that first battle years later. Thank you so much for helping put your viewers on this (I know a good majority of ppl prolly already seen it, but just nice to help show it for maybe the ppl that ain't know)
Hi Metal! thanks for these amazing analyses! Ever since I started practicing dancing seriously in 2013, I’ve watched videos of les twins so many times. Like I could’ve become a doctor had I used the time to study. At some point I thought I should make the most of the time I had spent on watching them all these years and start a TH-cam channel myself. But then I found you and alas your analyses are so on point I really don’t have much to add😭😂 I’m just so glad to know there are people like you and some people in the comment section who have watched them for years and analyze their development in detail. I don’t know anyone who does that here in Japan. Kinda sad especially cos les twins have come here quite often as seen in this video too. Also I’m a popper myself and I appreciate your other videos too including your own dancing! You’re such an amazing dancer/dance doctor!
Laurent is my favorite dancer. He's Larry with all of his extra theatrics. By that, I mean Laurent can do the same things as Larry. But I think Laurent knew if all they were presenting was the same type of dancing, that that would be boring and fizzle out quickly. In order for them to stand out, they needed to show that two dancers can hear the same music and give you a different vibe and look. That's why I believe it took him a while to develop a new style and make their styles different. I see Larry in Laurent occasionally when Laurent dances. I don't recall ever seeing Laurent in Larry. In fact, when Larry tries dancing on the floor, it looks awkward, unnatural. Laurent's a risk taker. He's goofy, weird. He tries new moves. He misses at times, but I must give him respect for trying. He builds up the dance and pulls you in. You're holding your breath because you have no idea what he'll do next. But when he delivers, the performance is breathtaking. I remember other dancers moves, but once I've seen them I'm good. But, Laurent's dancing makes me want to see and feel the performance again and again. He's so free that it makes me ,an essential non-dancer, want to get up and dance. Dancing is more than technical moves. Dance encompasses so much more. When I think of basketball, I think of Michael Jordan. When I think of dance, I think of Laurent.
Let me give my two cents. I have been watching the twins for 3+ years. I prefer Lau's style because I relate more to the humour, sassyness and versatility it comes with.. Larry's style is gangster, smooth and controlled. To get 100% from Larry's style u need to listen to the music in 4d. Not even 3d😂cause sometimes he goes into that inhuman level. That's y Lau accepts that he is better than him, and most of the time he is. Lau gives u unforgettable experience. Larry gives u an awakening of the mind. Enough with the philosophy, I chose Lau' style anyday tho, it's a personal preference.
For me, I can't say one is better than the other. Their styles are different, like comparing apples to oranges. I just like Laurent's style better. They're both great at what they do.
Equally good. Lau has several different layers while Larry stick to technique. The musicality in Lau head shows the different personalities and anticipates the beats. Borderline genius and crazy. A joy to watch.
Personally I think they both have stretches of being better then each other. I honestly like Larry better overall but recently Laurent has been better. But I finally feel like Larry is making progress in his dance and really improving recently and being more creative.
One my favorite rounds from Laurent is juste debout 2011, semi final. I thought for sure you would react to it. I have got Laurent though. Then and now. Iv always loved the versatility, uniqueness and randomness over technicality and beat kill, but love Larry too. Definitely part 2. Maybe even one on modern les twins.
Hi metal's. U have probably seen the video of Larry dancing to My Mind by Yebba. Very emotional song and Larry brings this song to such life that u will end with tears in your eyes if you are going thru any kind of thing. I will post the link here in a minute.
As someone who's been watching them for over 10 years It all comes down to preference. Laurent is more experimental meanwhile Larry tends to stick to his style/strengths a lot more. This is what makes them Great above any other duo. They both bring something unique to the table at a high level. Overall it's hard to tell who's better because they both tend to stay away from each other's style but occasionally I've seen them pull off each other's moves which shows either of them can do what the other is doing. If I was forced to pick I would go with Laurent currently but if you asked me 3-5 years ago I would go with Larry.
I love watching both of them! I especially like to see them dance together when their magic becomes almost indecipherable. (How many slo-mos do you have to watch over and over?) Laurent will always be my favorite because he is the constant creator and poet who draws on and elevates so many kinds of aesthetics and from so many art forms. I have seen Laurent float and execute footwork that rivals Larry’s, but it is true that Laurent’s performances do not not rely on those elements. I have always wondered about Larry’s back injury from a plane flight years ago. I don’t know the date. That may be a factor in their styles being so differentiated. (Laurent’s dance in the video when he was wearing the Tom Ford shirt was done in a period of time when Laurent was dealing with a couple of injuries.) Laurent’s core movements are much stronger than Larry’s and lead to a much richer range of expression. His vocabulary seems to be much greater, as has been mentioned in previous comments. Larry connects to the music very well, but it is undeniably Laurent who connects his audience to the music. It has been said often that Larry murders the beat while Laurent hugs it. Laurent also uncannily hugs the eye of the viewer in recordings and in still photographs. Laurent is great at enhancing what Larry doing in his performances and turns up the spotlight on his brother.
I agree with the commenter who said that Larry and Lau are the YIN and YANG TO ONE ANOTHER.- They are both so 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 that it is EXTRAORIDARILY difficult to put one over the other!!!!! MP, your commentary about the Twins is 'spot on'. Great reaction. Shout out to the videographers and for your individual putting the different videos together - good job..
Classic larry is def my fav. I still prefer his style over laurent because it's more aesthetically pleasing and smoother to watch, but right now laurent is better to me.
I’ve watched the twins for almost 6 years now. Lau is slightly more sensitive to music and has better fluidity. Larry used have this stop motion style which made his rounds flat but he has learned fluidity especially after learning from boogie. But the only reason Larry stands out cuz he has full mixed in his personality with his style of dance so every move looks like his own and gives him room to do anything and it just looks clean. A lot of dance have the same type of dance but there’s no personality in it
You stupid, LOL, every time I watch your reactions, you go into a breakdown and out of no where say something unexpected that has me laughing out loud for real
Can you please do a modern one of both of them where we see the changes from where they were younger till now bcs both Larry and Laurent especially Laurent his style has changed drastically compared to Larry yes Lauren still uses his signature moves but he’s evolved the most imo
Dammn hahaha they are just affectionate its not that weird. That's what happends if you really love eachother to the core. Also, europeans show more affection + they are twins. Come oooon naaaaw. Not everything gay
@@piercingsight7741 Modern larry lacks fundamentals of dancing. It’s just crazy control, dime stops and isolations/ pure musicality. There’s not element of groove or connection between movements, his sets now rely being on the beat of the music rather than how he used dance within the music and break apart each song. He is stuck in a pocket of pure beat killing/ isolations and doesn’t expand within his dance like Laurent does or how Classic larry did look at 2014 fusion concept and strife/ rbh larry etc he was a monster modern larry doesn’t touch him. He used to dance freely now it’s become so predictable
Well I suggest u make a video critiquing the difference so maybe he can see it. Because that was one of the most intelligent breakdowns I've ever read by far. You are brilliant. Kudos. Never even realized until you pointed it out.
@@piercingsight7741 I probably won’t make a video but a good example is this battle of Larry here in 2011 th-cam.com/video/5eGKRD4-hm0/w-d-xo.html just look how smooth he is. No resets, no stiffness just pure freestyle that’s all because of one thing GROOVE if current Larry had this type of groove he’d be on par with Laurent maybe even better since Laurent’s pretty creative. But this is why GROOVE is important it builds your connection to the music further enhancing your musicality, allows you to go places out of a pocket you’re in, being able to change rhythms so you’re not stuck on a specific pattern that makes rounds flat, and just dancing allowing the rhythm to take you so all your freestyles don’t look the same because of the same beat killing pattern, solely beat killing is impressive but it becomes repetitive without that sense of creativity and freedom groove brings
They save each other all throughout they're career. Imo I mean sometimes larry is stale and his round doesn't go to well and Lau comes through and kills it and vice versa
Laurent objectively is a better dancer that’s why, larrys strong suit is beat killing while Laurent does it all, being creative, flow, rhythm changes, i mean look how different each judge demos of his is compared to larrys who looks the same
@@CepheusFromTheMoon He does get credit, objectively speaking he’s not the better dancer. Saying I’m not giving him credit isn’t an argument to be used when comparing two dancers like I said the judge demos showcase the difference Laurent has a groove and a flow to him which makes everything he does musicality, creativity, flow switches, level changes even more effective than larry who just beat kills the same beats the whole time and doesn’t take time to flow or build up to anything the whole set goes flat
its because Laurent is super experimental, Larry was always the more clean between the two because he is safe with his choice of movement. Laurent will try a new move mid battle, even now. He'll do whatever he wants in battle, no style is off limits, even whacking. Larry whacks too, but Laurent will WHACK WHACK, he just dont gaf😂😂😂😂 thats why he's my favorite

Can you please do a modern one of both of them where we see the changes from where they were younger till now bcs both Larry and Laurent especially Laurent his style has changed drastically compared to Larry yes Lauren still uses his signature moves but he’s evolved the most imo
Did you hit the LIKE button yet.
Dammn hahaha they are just affectionate its not that weird. That's what happends if you really love eachother to the core. Also, europeans show more affection + they are twins. Come oooon naaaaw. Not everything gay
The bests 🤫🤫
Overall I’m taking Larry he’s a weapon
I prefer Larry's style.
Laurent is my man
Part 2!!
Metal you so funny.
Love Lau's versatility!!
New Larry and new Laurent are different. I can't even call it. I think Larry got faster and Laurent got stronger. IDK
Classic Larry is better than modern Larry by far that’s not even an opinion but modern laurent is better than classic laurent
Please explain. Because modern larry is killing it in terms of speed, variation, combos etc. Wtf are you talk about
@@piercingsight7741 Modern larry lacks fundamentals of dancing.
I prefer Lau style, but is hard to choice
They save each other all throughout they're career. Imo I mean sometimes larry is stale and his round doesn't go to well and Lau comes through and kills it and vice versa
Always preferred Larry over laurent seems like everybody is a fan for Laurent for some reason Lol
Laurent objectively is a better dancer that’s why, larrys strong suit is beat killing while Laurent does it all, being creative, flow, rhythm changes, i mean look how different each judge demos of his is compared to larrys who looks the same
@@T_money808 You’re not giving larry his credit
@@makesmartTROYces actually wrong larry is more experimental laurent is more traditional
Shit why do I have to pick, they both are on point but different way to experience there expression.
I would choose laurent for these videos but im favorite fluid so sometiemes I like larry better and sometimes laurent
Not gonna pick but damn, miss the younger version of them.
Rawr! :)
Lorry and larent
Lau is the man
Can't
U a hater bro, Laurent clearly won that last match
Stop swearing in your video’s Bro.
