As a middle age that has been into martial arts on and off since age 11, it is great to see someone such as yourself illustrate applications in forms that some cannot decipher. Thank you, you and your videos are amazing to watch, and learn from.
this technique is in different directions of aiki-jutsu when capturing ryote-dori. Slightly different in form from your kata - but in principle everything is the same
There usually isn't a single moment of origin for the old techniques, in my opinion. People often did something for a long time and then that idea got honed into the version that worked best. So, techniques might come in from several villages into a final form. Otherwise, I'd answer you by saying that bodies meeting together in these combinations are about as old as the culture or people themselves.
@@peaceonearth8693 yes absolutely. I agree with you here. It's amazing the similarities of what I do can be seen here in a different martial art altogether. Also helps me understand things from a different perspective. Many thanks for your time.

One thing that would make joint-lock defense more difficult, is that joint-locks are most (and sometimes only) effective if they are applied unexpectedly, as a surprise. Often joint-locks need a distraction move, which could be a fake or strike or could be from being in a state of routine, (sticky-hands type encounter). On the other hand (no pun intended..), joint-locks can sometimes be slower attacks than other means; strikes.
It's the same movement as in Heian Sandan in Shotokan Karate. One of the rare moments, Karate goes the soft way. The secret of succesing with this technic is to getting weak. With strength you would block yourselve. Practised Yin Yang.

I think the back-and-forth straight arm bar to shoulder, elbow fold, reverse, is a great two-person drill! Thank You, Master Basili!

Ciao Dante. Abbiamo una applicazione simile anche nel karate nel kata Pinan Sandan.
Ciao Marco, interessante, mi trovi qualche link di riferimento?

How old would you say some of these movements you are doing would be? At a guess?

Looks very similar to pinan/heian sandan of karate.
Yes, many friends have told me 🙏🏽
Movement. Philosophy. Spirituality. Master Basili is doing for Chinese martial arts what Carl Sagan did for science.
Thanks for the beautiful words 🙏🏽
lo dico e lo ripeto, il wu shu e la scrima si somigliano moltissimo!
Si, i punti di incontro sono tanti.
@@DanteBasili queste cose le insegno io quando faccio lezione di scherma medievale. È impressionante la somiglianza.
