Great tour. 2 things. This is one of the few new ships that doesn't follow the pale colors and gray and beige look that so many new ships follow. It actually uses deep, rich colors and a good amount of quite dark woods. 2nd thing, HAL didn't try to redefine themselves. This ship has a lot of the same feel and design elements as the Statendam of 1993 had in it. You can tell it is the same company and brand.
So are you required to order a drink to be in the different music venues? Or is it ok to just go and listen and dance? I'm confused by that part. Thank you, this is a great video!
Thank you for the EXCELLENT tour! I just completed my own cruise on the NS and after watching your video, I felt like I knew the ship inside and out even before I boarded. One small note is that there is actually a Deck 14 above your start point. It's just an observation deck, and accessible from steps near the Retreat area or from port side elevators. Excellent forward views during a Stockholm Archipelago leg of our cruise.
So...just returned from a Rotterdam 12 day Panama cruise...same layout as NS...Pinnacle Class. Be aware...dueling pianos are now one piano...better imo as the former were overly loud and often out of key. Lincoln is gone but I understand that they intend to introduce a classical group in the near future. BB King and Rolling Stone are hit or miss. The artists are recruited individually so, having never played together before, there may be some that are better than others. For example...BB King male singer far outshone his female counterpart and the sax player was often off key. The Rolling Stone band had a keyboard player that couldn't sing but often did! The main stage dance act is awesome...great production values and performers. The MDR is slow...one hour and 40 minutes our second Gala night. The first Gala night we left before the coffee was served…they had forgotten! Pinnacle and Tamarind were great but I prefer the ambiance of the Tamarind. Dutch Cafe is the best! We had a Verandah cabin on Deck 6 which was actually smaller than similar cabins on the smaller ships like Zaandam. The balcony is also smaller. Staff were awesome! Worst Casino so far for us...slots payouts were pathetic! We usually expect to lose but like to play. These machines had a shorter playtime than any other HAL Casinos that we have experienced in the past. HAL remains our go to cruise line but we are of that demographic. It is not as “quiet” as you might like…if that is important to you…with a fair share of loud patrons…think “I don’t keep my voice down at home so I don’t need to here”. As ever…most people are nice but it takes just a few to spoil it for others. This review is purely subjective!
This is the very ship that my sister is on right now Sept.6 2023. She is on an 11-night Mediterranean Cruise. It was totally cool to see the exact same things that my sister is seeing now.
A very good job of touring this ship. Although we have not been on this ship, we have been on the sister ship "Rotterdam". We have to agree with everything you showed and everything said. All was similar. Our favorite cruise ship line, especially if you are into food and wine.

Great video. We are cruising on this ship in Feb 2024 for first time. Can you clear up if the greenhouse retreat hot beds are complimentary? Also is there a difference between MDR deck 2 and deck 3? TY!
Mdr deck 2 is for open seating, while deck 3 is fixed time. The thermal suite area with heated loungers is extra cost, either for a cruise long pass or daily passes may be available.

When you talk about the Explorations Central and Cafe, you didn't mention the great information provided there about ports and excursions. One of my reasons for choosing HAL is that they travel to a great variety of ports and provide lots of information about each location and different excursions.

Hot beds are not complimentary, but the Gender-specific dry saunas are.
We were assigned deck 2 but no difference in menu or service. ☺️
