Spear chucker is a term used to describe how our people hunted in Africa. They would throw spears at the target. They did it very well too. They fed their families by being accurate hitting a target with the spear. Or bow and arrow. That is where the term spear chucker came from.

  • @Martonesdef
    @Martonesdef 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

I appreciate your reaction. You have a really good stance in my opinion, and yet you still enjoy the humor of it. That's cool.
As a black man, I don't really know what to think about its usage. I'd rather no one use it, or that it would never exist, but it does exist due to slavery and Jim Crow. Anything that was birthed out of that era is gonna be difficult to clean up, if not impossible.
It's a fire starter if any race says it, not even to black people, or in a racist manner. I hate the whole "term of endearment" crap. We can say that all we want, but to me it just means we choose to be that among ourselves, except now we can't blame racist people for that identification or perception.
But should we ban the word altogether? What other words, or phrases should we ban, and at what point is that considered unconstitutional? Who gets to decide when saying something true gets perceived as hateful? Not a great plan. I still find myself using the word talking to myself, but never in public, I barely like using it around close family members.
If anything, I know putting in legislation around the word is not gonna help, anymore than gun laws stop criminals from using guns. We really need some introspection and show self discipline as to control what we allow to roll off our tongue.
"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." Ephesians 4:29

the s word is is a term that was used that made fun of african tribes because they carried spears to hunt and used them in battle. it's not really called the s word, they just said it in the boondocks to be funny, but it is an actual term that was used against us and our ancestors.
and i was shocked that this was based on an actual news story. i think i found out years later, but the actual news report is hilarious. lol
stuff like this really makes you think about how the words and who are able to use them and who can't has so much politics and technicalities and hypocrisies around it.
like we can say it but other races can't, or both versions of the words are seen as completely different, but still non black people can't say either. we still say the word even though we know the history of it and the variations of it.
but then it gets in some weird areas where we've seen people and celebrities lose their entire careers because they said the word for free either in the past or in the present and got cancelled for it, but in movies like django unchained, roots, and even in this episode, non black people literally get paid to say the word and it's seen as acceptable because it's considered entertainment or educational. it can get really confusing. lol
me personally i'm uncomfortable when non black people use it around me, but both depending on which version they use it's a different kind of discomfort. in school i had a friend say the "cool version" of the word near me and it was just a really cringy and awkward feeling. like the feeling you get when somebody tells you your fly is down or something is in your nose. but when i was a kid i was at the store with my mom and when we were pulling up these 2 dudes were walking out and while we were waiting for them to pass one of them told my mom "don't hit me hard er".
the feeling i sensed for that was completely different. i just sensed anger and hatred. from the dude that said it, and anger from my mom too because she was upset. i could tell that he was using the word with malicious intent. the feelings i had though were confusion, and a little fear i guess? because i didn't understand what was happening. but yeah, 2 different feelings. lol

Well they legally can't do that in the United States unless they are getting over paid, depending on what grade and the students attendance an state, the government by law has to pay the school a certain amount per student, Its 16000$ per student for high schoolers in my state, they can't also spend money that's also already been given to them unless the school wanted to, also why would the government do that? The money they use to build our roads comes from taxes, money for schools also comes from taxes.

I mean the thing with racial slur or any type of urban vocabulary is that you can't really police it... however how I feel about any word in general is the context it was used in as well as the intention. I've heard women refer to other women in their friend group as "bit*h" out of endearment. It also comes down to how you feel about being called a certain word. I personally don't feel a way if someone calls me a ninja out of respect or endearment, even if they aren't the same race as me. However I don't really associate with people who don't understand the sensitivity around using racial slurs so that's unlikely to happen in my circle.

It’s ridiculous for one race of people to feel free to say a word, but another race to be prohibited from uttering the same word. That in and of itself is racism in its purest form. How did we as a society become so soft and easily offended that we even have to use a moronic euphemism like “N word“? To me that is the question the creators of this were trying to raise by the inclusion of the “S word” section of this cartoon. The way we are going with dumbing down our language to appease the people who wake up every day hoping to be offended by something I will not be surprised to see that the leftists start getting their panties in a wad and insisting that society substitute “C word”, “P word”, “H word”, “L word”, etc. in place of “raccoon”, “pussy”, “homosexual”, “lesbian”. etc. 😖 How about we all just grow up and act like sane adults? Radical thought, I know.

Of course, being latino I was privileged to witness a plethora of these insults being tossed around. Huey made a valid point. If a word is only OK to use at a certain time by certain people, who dictates that? I think anyone should be allowed to say it. But I also think anyone can react to any words you say. "Keep your words soft and sweet in case you need to eat them later."
Anyone can say whatever they want. But not everyone has to be OK with whatever you say.

I understand the idea of not using the n word so other people stop, but if there’s plenty of people who know and understand why it shouldn’t be used, then it shouldn’t be used by them. Most people that argue for saying it are usually white people that already say it, or at least want to, or people who grew up around black people and think it’s okay to use. I do think black people should stop using it as much as we do. Shouldn’t be in every charting song or used(as much) in spaces with other cultures.

If you're horribly offended by non-threatening language, I don't consider you to be very intelligent. In terms of using slurs in terms of endearment I did know two old engineers (white and black) who had a couple of slurs for each other. You have no idea how much these two loved each other. We're talking quit a job I've had for decades because you fired the other love. Is it a good idea to use those words? No idea, but it's a bad idea to be offended by them as it just allows others to control your emotions.

I'm with Granddad being called a N-word for free my whole life if there's an opportunity to capitalize on it I'm taking it in a heartbeat, everyone else in this country does why not us? Also the Ann Coulter bit is VERY TRUE they're all actors they get paid to argue.

    Somethings should be sacred.
We dont have this conversation about Native America headwear, there is a general consensus that it is for said culture and only that culture.

Native Americans created their headdress. If we go by that standard, who gets the right to hold the N word as 'sacred'?

Culture has never been owed like a copyright, it’s alive and it spreads, this process can’t be contained or stopped, no matter how hard you try.
But I’m not even sure if you can call the N-word culture, since it’s an insult.
And it sure is a controversial topic that needs to be discussed, since people lost their jobs over it.

@julchensweet2538 language can be culture. We officially have the term African America Venacular English for a reason, dont be delusional.
