There's more than a few individuals, regardless of race, who are more than keen on using atrocities of the past to justify their acts today. As inhumane and awful as those acts were, it doesn't justify someone to be selfish and rude. Racial history does not substitute for values and common courtesy, particularly since there isn't a person alive today who actively lived in the era of American slavery...and you'll often find that those who act out weren't even around for Jim Crow or the Civil Rights Movement.
I could spend all day being pissy about how my ancestors were treated for being immigrants in their time, but I wasn't there for it. Fact of the matter is, a lot of the people who complain and act out about those inequalities don't give any more of a damn about the people who actually suffered them than the white people they blame for ignorance and bigotry...and you'll find just as well that many of them have/had all the opportunities in the world to make something of themselves, and are just using race as an excuse to cover up their own personal failings.
It's disgusting and it causes so much harm to minorities and organizations who are actually trying to fight real, tangible racism and prejudice. Our society needs to accept that racial heritage is not a substitute for character and personal responsibility, and that goes for everyone.

It's been approved to come back for another season on HBO Max. Aaron Mcgurdner is returning as a executive producer of the reboot. The news came out last year, months before John Witherspoon died. Most likely, they probably already started recording the voices at the time before his death. If not, then they would find someone to take his place. His son is perfect for the role and he sounds just like his dad, but unfortunately, the casting/executive producers declined him.
