    Just wanted to leave one quick note in case there still is some confusion:
    Some of you may have received a notification about a Triton video weeks ago. That was actually when I was on my trip and I was trying to upload a 6 sec wrist-roll video as a story to youtube. I accidentally uploaded it as a normal video and quickly deleted it. Sorry if there was any confusion.

    I love Orients. I have an Orange Ray 2 and a couple of Orient Star's. I really do like the power reserve feature. I've recently bought a Seiko Turtle Save the Ocean edition which was on sale for Triton money, and even though I'm an Orient man, have to say the Turtle Save the Ocean is a hell of a watch and won't be coming off my wrist for a while. Great thorough video as always mate 👍

    Great video! Love the level of detail. I purchased one about three months ago and I couldn't be happier. As you stated, it would have been nice to see a better clasp than the stamped one they use, however, I've had other watches with the same set-up and never had a problem with them, so there you go. Thanks

    I have a black Triton on an Angus Jubilee and love it. The OEM bracelet isn’t bad. Everyone seems to think they should get the level of a Rolex Sub for $400. Orient makes a solid watch at a great price. I currently have 5 Orients and they all get worn.

  • @edf2953

    Very nice review of what appears to be an attractive, well designed diver watch. One thing in particular I like about your reviews is the level of detail you provide in your commentary. For example, you don’t just say you ‘like’ a watch, rather; you always mention the features you enjoy the most about the watch, which helps me fully understand the pros, and when applicable, the cons regarding the watch. In summary, keep on doing the great work you are doing. It’s much appreciated...Ed

    I own a Triton and honestly didn’t think I’d keep it for very long. More just initially curious about Orient as a brand. The watch has surprised me. It’s a great tool piece and wears quite well given its size. I’ve dove with it and it performed nicely as a back up timer to the computer. As you mentioned, the bracelet is crap, but easily replaced. Great review.

    I own both the Kamasu and the Triton and I'm loving them, both came this week. These are my first automatic watches so I'm new to this. Kamasu is more practical as daily driver, but the Triton has more punch. As an ideea, I'm coming from a chrono Irony Swatch, which served me for more than 11 years, daily, and still going. First I wanted only the Triton, but then I had a good deal on the Kamasu, thought about returning one of them but I will keep them both. Only slight regret : both are blue, so maybe I should have shoped for a burgundy Kamasu, but I'l live with that. Nice review.

    Test drove a blue one for a few weeks in the summer and I absolutely loved it. I actually thought it wore a bit smaller than the dimensions would imply. The wingspan had me concerned but it was a nonissue. I would definitely pick it over the Seiko SRP773. I think the only thing I noticed that could be improved upon would be the crown. When pulled all the way out there was a noticeable looseness to it. Not a deal breaker but it could be a bit better.

    • @RelativeTime

      It's surprisingly comfortable. I tried both the Triton and my Turtle on back to back. Triton was easily more comfy. So between the two, I'd go with the Triton.

    Beautiful footage. As for the watch itself, it needs a Strapcode's Angus Jubilee bracelet to be perfect daily diver. The fact that mine is close to 0 spds puts Triton in such configuration at the top of my list.

    I ordered one of these a few days ago to wear instead of my father's 1959 Rolex GMT Master. When I found out how valuable it is I can't justify it for daily wear. Had to go with another automatic and this will do nicely. Great video too.

    Fantastic review on this amazing Orient watch . I currently own the Orient Mforce Bravo watch which was the predecessor to the Triton. The Mforce Bravo is a larger watch than the Triton but houses the same movement and a sapphire crystal as well. I’m so impressed with my Mforce Bravo that I’m definitely planning to eventually add a Triton to my collection as well. I also own a Seiko Padi Turtle and a Seiko Sumo watch . Would definitely say that Orient and Seiko are very similar and are amazing value for dollar spent .

      @RelativeTime  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@1968jpy interesting. I'm curious how it would compare to the Triton. Lume is better than my turtle.
      Someone recently gave me their old mako usa. Im going to see if I can find a deal on a Ray ii for Black Friday. Then do a 4 way orient lume off with the Ray, Kamasu, USA, and Triton.

    • @1968jpy
      @1968jpy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Relative Time yeah don’t get me wrong the lume on the Mforce Bravo is good but my Sumo and Turtle are like a torch. I have heard the lume on the Triton is as good as the Seiko watches as you and other reviewers have shown . What really impresses me about the Mforce Bravo is the three ISO ratings antimagnetic, shock resistance and 200 meters water resistance. I was a little surprised that the Triton only got a Japanese rating and not an ISO rating. I don’t think it’s a negative though because both the Mforce and Triton have the same movement with a sapphire crystal. The only watch that I do own that’s to me better than the Triton and Mforce Bravo is the Sumo. The Sumo is beyond amazing which also has the three ISO ratings with a 6R15 movement with 50 hours power reserve. The Lume on my Sumo is the best I’ve ever seen on a watch .

    This video comes right on time. I ordered my Triton about 3 weeks ago from jomashop for $325 and it arrived yesterday evening. So far I love it but I agree with you that the second hand should be red like my Blue-ray II. I also wish they had the Orient logo in applied metal instead of printed. The only other thing I would have liked to have would be the O ring on the crown was in blue to match the dial color but those are just knit picks. Thank you for this video.

      @@mariog7213 It's reputable. The thing is it's what's considered a Grey Market seller. As in they are not an Authorized Dealer(AD).
      Which is how they are able to discount the watch. ADs are not allowed to discount unless the brand tells them too.
      The downside is that most brands won't honor a warranty unless you buy from an AD. Jomma has their own warranty and say they will repair things, but I've never taken them up on it.
      So it's up to you if you think it's worth the risk. Personally I think it depends on the watch.

    I have had my blue Triton for about 9 months and found everything you said to be right on point. The lume is a step above any of my other watches, which is why I wear it overnight. Blue Tritons were sold out when I first wanted to buy one and decided to get a blue Ray II first. I have a 7.25 inch wrist so the larger size of the Triton over the Ray II is not really a problem for me. I plan on giving the Ray II to a friend who has a smaller wrist. If I did not have lots of other lighter watches, I could see choosing a Kamasu over the Triton or the Ray II/Mako II, however I really like having the power reserve meter. In fact, I do not think I will be buying any more automatics without one. I have an Orient Star GMT (DJ00002W) which is very nice. I would like to see you do a review of the Orient Star World Time.

    I think this watch is more of a spiritual descendant of the Seiko SKX than yhe new 5KXs... Why, well overall the SKX was a tool watch that becomes an Iconic watch but a tool watch after all. Orient Triton offers same quality level of Sumo for less than Sumo price. It has an Orient Star movement 40n5a ticking inside, and the lume is indisputably better than any Swiss diver i've personally worn so far in mid-price range. Both Tritons and M-Force divers are built like tanks.

  • @user-zr3ke5ln7z
    @user-zr3ke5ln7z 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I bought myself such for $ 460, quite a decent watch for everyday smart-casual-heavy, with a convenient indicator-arrow of the watch charge, a pleasant blue color. Although initially looking towards black. One of the downsides in my opinion is the size. That would be a little more. Even on a small hand, they look small.
    The watch dial is very small -30 mm. My seven-year-old Seiko SNAE87P1 also has a bezel diameter of 42mm, but due to the larger size of the dial, it is 3-4mm larger and seems more massive on the wrist. In all reviews of such watches, showing a watch close up is very difficult to imagine their size, and when showing on a hand the viewer does not understand their size - because everyone's hands are different. For example, fishermen usually show the fish and put a pack of cigarettes, but with a watch, a box of matches or something standard thread would probably come in handy).

    • @RelativeTime
      @RelativeTime  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's an interesting suggestion. One of the hardest things about buying watches online is imagining them on your wrist. Which is why even experienced collectors often buy one just to sell it after they try it on. It's a very personal thing and sometimes it's hard to convey or learn by looking at pictures of a video.
      Which is one of the things a lot of reviewers try to do is focus on the measurements of the watch. Width, thickness, and lug to lug being the most important. Yet if your not familar with which dimensions you like, it's not going to help you.

    Diver's 200M isn't a higher spec than 200M; it's just that one has been submitted for testing and has passed, while the other hasn't necessarily been submitted, saving expense to stay within a price point. Plain old 200M is very likely the same spec in terms of build quality as Diver's 200M.

    • @RelativeTime
      @RelativeTime  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For the most part. Although if you look at the requirements in testing, one of them is "Immersion of the watch in water under 125% of the rated pressure" So even though it's rated for 200, it's actually been tested at 250.
      That said, I think a lot of people put too much emphasis on a "Divers" rating. It's nice sense of security to know that the particular watch you have has been tested. But a lot of enthusiast fail to realize that if they have ever opened the caseback to regulate or mod their watch. That rating no longer means anything.

    • @rangersmith4652
      @rangersmith4652 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RelativeTime So true. I would imagine watch companies can somehow detect that the case back has been off, and there go your immersion rating and your warranty. But most people will take off the watch to wash dishes, so that immersion rating is moot anyway.

    Perfect video, with all details. Very good work! I have the blue Triton at home now. It is a wonderful watch. Even more for that price.I am only little bit worry about the bezel inlay. I think the fact that the blue bezel inlay is higher like the glass, its perfect to catch scratches. How your experience about that issue? Maybe the sapphire inlay from longinslandwatch should solve this little problem, which i see.

    I have seen that there is an Orient Star Diver. It looks nice, but certainly is playing it safe looking is wise. Very conventional looking.
    I found out there is a Swiss Watchmaker called Trition. It looks like it’s a resurrected brand, they had an interesting diver in the 1960s with a 12 o’clock crown. The model has been re-introduced. Maybe that’s why Orient is rebranding this watch.

    Unfortunate for me. My Triton is out for stem and power meter repair. I love this watch. Bur last week I picked up a red Kamasu. Got a new set of bracelet and set of removal forks. What a difference from cheap ones. Was going to change out the bracelet. But took one link off each side. Reset it and the Kamasu fit like a glove. Wearing it now. Love the red color. Picked it up on sale for $180. Long Island watch was out of stock and only a few dollars cheaper. Prefer to buy from an AD unless there is a large price difference. And red is hard to find. Came in three days. I do think the Triton is superior. And for the $60 to 80 repair worth it. That has strap code bracelet. BTW got the Triton at Orient USA.

      Relative Time I bought two Tritons at the same time from a Singapore dealer for a very low price. I just fell in love with the watch and it was an unbeatable price. The stems were very wiggly all along. Both times when I went to pull out the crowns to reset them, they snapped off the stem.
      It was a long process to return the watches to Singapore for repair. Orient USA treated me like the plague when conversing. I lost all my interest in repair and the trouble and pitched them. Besides, my Ray 2 was more accurate and evidently, a much stouter model. Don’t miss the Tritons.

      @@RelativeTime The watch is out of warranty and Orient USA are the authorized representatives in North America. I will spare you the details of the tedious conversation I've been having with them during the last year.
      Basically, I happily agreed to pay for the replacement strap. They advised me that they ordered it from the factory in Japan and that it would take between 2 and 3 months to receive it.
      During the last year, I asked for an update twice since I never heard back from them. They responded with annoyment: "We will go ahead and contact them again regarding this part as well as several others we are currently waiting on from the factory. We will let you know if and when we receive an update regarding the strap."
      I received that last response 3 months ago and I have since accepted the fact that I will never have a resolution from Orient USA. I think it's shame since I have always loved and recommend the brand to friends and family. Unfortunately, the long term customer experience is not up to par with the initial manufacturing quality in my opinion.
      And by the way, I love your channel!
