Breaking down Quinyon Mitchell's performance vs. SJSU. Highlighting his strengths while explaining some of the areas for improvement. #Steelers #NFLDRAFT2024 #NFLDRAFT
Appreciate the support! Glad to hear that. He’s a really nice player who is just scratching the surface of what he can be… he’s gonna blow it up in Indy.
Just came up on video as I was looking for Mitchell film . Really good breakdown and giving us him in most situations wether off , press coverage .. Good point about him pre opening and agree it won't be a problem at next level. His position coach will preach patience and staying square longer and he's so confident in his speed he will hang in there. He's gonna be a problem once he holds that pedal and stops pre opening . Again thx .. for sharing this .
No. I am likely the lone detractor in the entire analyst, fan draft universe. Everyone yelled to rooftops how good he was at the senior bowl. So I watched the 1 v 1 drills from all 3 days. Mitchell had some moments but he got beat on close to 50% of his reps. I get those drills are slanted to WR, however, other much less touted DBs were fairing far better in those drills than Mitchell. Malachi Corley physically abused Mitchell on short/intermediate routes from press. Corley got his hands on Mitchell and shed him with ease. McCafrey did the same twice. Even slow AF Brenden Rice beat him. Roman Wilson abused Mitchell on short/intermediate route. He turned Mitchell around on intermediate route and easily beat him on short route both from press. Walker a WR I don't rate beat him easily on shorter route in pass drill in 11 v 11s. I honestly do not get the hype.
@@jlm4455 I would disagree with some of the points on the specific reps you mentioned. That being said, 1v1s is not an extremely valuable tool for my scouting process. The drill itself is geared toward offensive success and not indicative of how football is played on the weekends. Couple slight concerns w Mitchell’s profile but there’s not really anything glaring that isn’t coachable.
Awesome! He definitely has his own play style. Even when opening his hips early, he almost uses it to slingshot him to speed throughout transition. During jump balls he’s smothering, and plays above his traits. His arms go kind of wild, so it would be great for him to get better discipline there so he can follow through and use his true speed. Could be very good though.
no db has ever stopped wr from running a post in a game from a backpedal and inside leverage...if doesn't open up like that the wr is even and if hes even he's leaving
Can u do a breakdown on TJ Tampa? Cuz I dont think we will take a corner above a tackle or center in the 1st round unless we get someone in free agency
I’ve only studied Green but I like his physicality in press. Held his own against the LSU WRs. Seems like someone they could be interested in. Eager to see how he tests.
I don't like him... I really enjoy your analysis but I am not crazy about this kid... the first 3 plays he gets beat and if the QB was any better they are big plays... the wideouts route running left a lot to be desired if he fights to get head up he kills this kid all day imo... he is gonna get beat by pro wideouts... he is fast and does recover well to his credit.
1st rep. He got beat initially on deep ball, had that been a faster WR? Mitchell would've been in real trouble. 2nd rep. good coverage & recovery but again have to consider level of competition. If that was say a Malk Nabors, Xazier Worthy or Brian Thomas Jr? Mitchell would've been toast. He got stacked initially. In the NFL if that happens? He is going to give up big plays. 3rd rep. That WR's break? Is amateur hour. Is like he is counting his steps. I get you want to highlight Mitchell's athleticism but he is going against a WR who will not get anywhere near the NFL. If he open his hips like that v an average NFL WR? He will be in real trouble. 4th rep. good rep. Again, open his hips super early. 5th rep. Meh, he guessed, had he stayed in phase and he had a chance to make a play on the ball. Even if that window was more open it would've been a low % throw. Slot had great coverage. Again in NFL Mitchell does that? He will be playing against WRs that can make a play after they catch the ball. This to me highlights a player knowing he is best player on his team instead of simply playing his man. 6th rep. Yep the WRs are counting steps to the stem. Unreal lol. Again in NFL if Mitchell opens his hips like that he will have far less room to recover. Really feel like level of comp is making some of these reps look better than they would be v higher levels like SEC etc. 7th rep. his best rep yet. 8th rep. Good rep but again the WR is counting his steps. 1,2,3,4, break! Lol 9th rep. Excellent. 10th rep. Good rep but the "speed" of the WR is glaring. Again Mitchell opens hips and gives leverage to WR. If that WR has some juice? Mitchell is struggling. 11th rep. Counting steps is part of opponent's offense. It is allowing Mitchell easy route reads. Overall not great. Level of competition is a huge concern and? Given his mixed bag in press at senior bowl I do not see the prospect everyone seems to be locked into. I do see a DB that thrived on level of comp but despite that still had some concerns and it got covered up by that level of comp. At senior bowl when he faced better, faster, stronger and more athletic WRs? He struggled far more than you would like.
I don’t like that he plays so far off the line. I feel like he’d be better in a heavy zone defense. I think Steelers want to trust that their corners can win press consistently so the pass rush can get home. He’s seems good at what he does, but what he does may not be suited for the Steelers
I think he has the necessary toolkit to press with the size/speed/length combo. It’s just a matter of drilling his technique and finding something he’s comfortable with. His reps are the senior bowl we’re encouraging. To me, teaching press is less difficult than teaching off man.
WELCOME TO PHILLY / FLY 🦅FLY
I saw one video that he had 4 INTs in one game. I want the Eagles to draft him
;)
Looks like you got your wish
W
Good coaching and a Jugs machine, he’ll be golden. Go birds!! 🦅
Dude looks like an excellent prospect. Thank you for showing this and the break down. Keep up the excellent reviews
Appreciate your support!!

I dont know where you find all 22 for your stuff but ill be here for every breakdown. I would love Mitchell but with the hype i dont see how he falls.
Appreciate the support! Glad to hear that.

@@drummerconz682 I am sad we passed but Fautanu is a good player.

I played DB a bit in college, but you make this easy to understand. Great job.
As an Eagles fan, I hope we trade up for him.
We didn’t even need to, that’s the best part lol. Thank you other teams for picking so many offensive players!
@@shanelewis5451Right 🤣🎯🦅
Fantastic breakdown
What do you all think of Mitchell’s game?
For the Steelers subs, would y’all want him at pick 20?

Real high quality scouting video.
🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
I think he went to the best place for his playstyle.. eagles almost exclusively run off coverage. We'll see tomorrow how he plays
He would look great in black and gold great job DB
💪🏽💪🏽
def would look better in green and white though
Awesome breakdown! He's raw but some team will happily bet on those traits.
Loved this!
great breakdown

@@Steelers_DB Keep up the good work
More db tapes for sure! Terrion Arnold, Koolaid, Kam kitchens, Calen Bullock
I really think he would make a great Raider! In fact, I think he's out #1 target
This tape you show puts him ahead of Cooper DeJuan
I think mitchell gets drafted higher
@@Steelers_DB It would be great if you did a Cooper DeJuan "Film Room" like this one..

we'll take him 👍
💯
What are your top 5 corners and would you say hes better than Kool Aid?
Could you do the other db opposite side of him. Of that same game Chris McDonald jr.
He Draft eligible?
Yes, he will be a day 3 guy. He caught a pick 6 to seal this game

All good. I appreciate you watching!
Facts I think he looks like toast out there
Who’s the best Wr & Qb he’s faced?
Marvin Jr and CJ Stroud
Gold jacket
Seems like a solid off ball cb prospect to have success in the league, but Devante Adams would break him off 10/10 with that early hip open up.
He has great recovery speed and technique.. he’ll be fine against anyone..getting beat occasionally in the nfl is normal tho. It happens to the best
1st rep. He got beat initially on deep ball, had that been a faster WR? Mitchell would've been in real trouble.

In the NFL he will get beat by the recievers who knows how to set him up because quarterbacks would hit the reciever on the break.
He’s a great cover corner.. he will make a lot of plays in the nfl as well

I dont like the fact that he plays off the ball so much, I would pick Wiggins 1st
Playing great off coverage is a great skill.. he has great off coverage technique
