- Putting this new Hyundai machine to the test with the Werk Brau bucket and hydraulic thumb. Trenching through heavy rock and down an abandoned county road to hook up an under ground electric primary to a new building pad in the woods. Hope you enjoy! If you want to see the video of clearing the building pad a few months ago, check out the below link.

Trenching Through Rock with Brand New Excavator - Hyundai HX85A
I’ve commented before on either DP’s or your channel about how unusual it seems to have municipal water out in the boonies.
Now you top that showing us a waterline along a long abandoned county road through the woods. 🤷🏻♂️
3:52 I'd live in that barn! That's a spot for a house gosh barn it!
"Locate flags." Those mean "somewhere within a hundred feet or so, we buried something, sometime, between 1 inch and 100 feet deep, and of course, we may have dug it up and re-routed it 10 years ago, but nobody wrote that down."
LLLLLLLOOOOOOOOLLLLLLL!!!! Just thought the same thing!!
😂😂
Haha, I think you are right 👍🏻
No mirrors were harmed in the making of this film. DP was impressed with the reach of that machine in his recent video. Some of those rocks looked like giant dinosaur bones.
It was close to a mirror casualty early on.
Nice little stones rolling up there bud.
Yea for old guys hanging around companies! I was one of those guys before I retired ten years ago. Thanks for the local history.
Thanks for watching!
Awesome video Mike. Very impressive machine, well and operater.
Thanks jimmy
I like your videos as well. You gotta get up there and help ol dad and Mr Bumm finish that dam Lt. Dan project. I’m anxious to see it finished ✅
Utilities location services...... that dont locate the Utilities........Priceless
I commented to Mike that it is a fantastic machine . Good machines make working fun.
Agreed!
The big rock can be for the youtube boat cabin, anchor....lol
That would be cool!
The 304 wouldn't have handled those rocks. Good thing you brought the 85. God bless
Very true!
good evening from geelong victoria australia
Evening!
Wow... I'm pretty sure that last rock (at 18:00) is the foundation rock that's holding up the mountain... I'd be careful if I were you... :)
Hahaha
That machine is a stronger than it looks. Those rocks are heavy and large. Good Job Captain!!!
Thank you
Captain great video, you tube yacht is looking great. Thanks for sharing. Kevin
Thanks for watching Kevin
Werk Brau bucket & thumb is strong. Couple of those rocks were almost bigger than the Hyundai. Great trench work.
Very strong indeed!
Mike chose the right guy to test out the Hyundai to see if it Captain proof. This seems to be a running joke with and the others.
It's always good to have a test pilot you can rely on and Captain is that man.
Capt Kleeman, man this is my first video with you and I'm signed up, very interesting. I've heard Mike mention you many times, so I'm here.
Welcome to the channel!
I enjoy seeing what my Indiana neighbor is doing. My family farm is downstream from you, around the the Tobinsport / Cloverport bend. I see the beautiful sunrises from the Kentucky side looking across the Hoosier National Forest. Keep up the good work with the videos.
Very cool! Thanks for watching
At the 15 minute time you had those rocks. If you had many more you might have found The Lost City of Atlantis. Nice work on close area with that big little machine.
I think I missed my calling! The more I see of the Hyundai HX85A, the more I want one 😁 As a retired machinist and a wanna be farmer, I guess I'll just dream about running one for now ☹
It’s a great machine!
Those are some BIG rocks!
Yeah!
Another good one Skipper
Thank you!
Cap'n, what happened to the closed captioning? I do so enjoy the pictures tho
It’s on, it just takes TH-cam time to auto generate
Are the mirrors protected;-).
Very cool rock, but are sure it is not cement used in the county road or infrastructure ? :)
Yup. Definitely rock
Time travel is so strange. We have to travel back into time two months to catch DP on the job! But Captain Kleeman has going all over time, and we still aren't getting everything in order! 😮
Good job on the trenching. The Hyundai really showed its strengths! Big for its category, but able to fit in tiny places while maintaining its strength and functionality. Definitely was the better choice because of the rocks. The 304 would've pulled the "NOPE" and most likely would've blown some hoses. And part of the unused water line was unearthed. Better that than the in-use line!
Always enjoy the history lesson. If it wasn't for the older guys, it would've been a crap shoot and hope to not find the live line!
@4:44
Now we know who’s video we’re watching. 🤕
👷♂️
Nice job. Maybe you can give Lets Dig some pointers! Good video.
😂😂.
So I am #500 "thumbs up", should be a lot more with the views. That HX85 is a amazing machine for it's size, would love to test myself!!
Thanks for the thumbs up!
Not knowing anything about excavators than what I see on your channel, DP's, LetsDig's, Andrew's... I'm pretty impressed by the reach but also by the size (and therefore weight) of the rocks this little machine picks up ! Great to have a quick update on the yacht, can't wait for the next steps !!!
Definitely a stout machine
Long time no see cap hope you an your fam is doing good.
All good on this end!
Good Job! And you are right, for the size of the excavator, it is powerful and has great reach! Great video also too!
Thank you for watching!
Hi young friend, Nice small machine hope it is now better then the 150 called here the "cattle" always boiling ....! OK or you buy or you make yourself a one shank up rooter for your machine like (Jesse made his) and on the smallest bucket fit a rake of 1meter 50 (5 ') a tooth every 11 cm +/- and 15 cm long to gather grass branches roots clean the soil I work a PC 27 Komatsu . Best regards and good luck with your new tool !!!
Pretty impressive breakout power considering you run it just off idle...
Agreed!
Vacated
Impressive power on the excavator moving the rocks. Thanks for sharing.
Yes it is!
I think the 85 has more power than the Volvo, prying and lifting.
@@michaelleblanc3363 I honestly agree
You need to get some copper wire for witching rods so you can locate the water line yourself. That is beautiful country.
Enjoyed watching the video. Hope your having a great day. Interesting project on the power line dig. Stay safe
Thanks for watching!
Loving this channel you make things so interesting 🏴
Thank you!
That Hyundai is pretty cool. Almost as cool as the water bottles.
Almost 😉
do you accelerate the engine to full speed? I have the impression that it is only halfway ... good job as always!
I run half to 3/4 throttle most of the time
@@CaptainKleeman only with the hyundai or all excavators ?
@@Feub69 anytime I run one.
Great show, on the boat house are you going to Mark the side with foot marks so you know the draft, it looks like 7 or 8 feet.
from the Netherlands thanks for the video Captain Kleeman
Thanks for watching!
Wow just adding the thumb took the machine to a different level.
Absolutely!
@captainkleenman you ever thought of doing archeology?
Would be fun!
@@CaptainKleeman with the amount in the area I'm surprised @dirtperfect you and mbts ain't found much more?
@@halloweenchainsawsforgoo the Hoosier national forest has one that surveys and records old homesteads which is pretty cool.
You can start an archaeological excavation channel called “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Boom”
@@python3574 😂😂
Another great video
Thank you!
That HX85A is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sure is!
The combative day nutritionally rock because island increasingly transport anenst a clumsy buffet. melted, well-groomed sideboard
Whaaaaaaattt????
👌🤓
👍👍
And the Grand Prize "THUMB" goes to 'YOU'! This HYUNDAI is getting a good workout. MIKE (DP) stretched it out yesterday (don't think he measured "REACH") but you gave that result today. Weird how those rocks are near the same and that THUMB came Just In Time! Good explanation of historical facts; THEN & NOW - Sort of a mess! Love watching YOU makes sense of it all. Thanks for another! Sonny
Hey thanks for the feedback!
Those rocks look like the foundation of a building... Mabe a Civil War fort.... Baaahaaa
😂
I just realized I wasn’t subscribed! Sorry Kleeman!
Welcome aboard!
Keep the videos coming.
Will do!
That thing might be stronger than the 140. Pretty big rocks your we’re picking up
You might be right!
Hey captain great video again just finished watching started before work and at lunch I finished you said we have to wate till next Thursday for the finish the job what video you got for Sunday .,😁😎👍👌your v chanel is the top on my list .but if mbts had more time to video his job it might change lol 😂😆 love your and Dp mbts and Matthew need to do more also well keep up the great adventures you take us on Ken from PA 😎👍✌️
Thanks for watching!
Exciting to see that new thumb and bucket working well. I agree that Mike should own this machine. GL Cheers!
Cheers!
Sheesh. Turn a bloke loose in the woods and you get yachts and Stonehenge.
You add credence to the Ancient Aliens theory. :P
Could of made a small Stonehenge 😂
I'm in Northeast Indiana, I work for the Water Dept. in our little town, I know how frustrating it can be for the local contractors, not being able to trace water mains. I usually stay with them when digging near a main and help them probe for it when they get close. Who would have thought 40 years ago that someone might want to dig near that crazy water main. Huh!!
The water department here is pretty good about being available for us as well. We definitely appreciate it.
@@CaptainKleeman
Better to be there and help you miss it than remember where the shutoff it so they can repair it in a muddy trench afterwards.
Smart thinking on their part.
@@Crewsy absolutely
Get yourself a couple of pieces of #9 stripped wire or something similar about 2 feet long, I have even used coat hangers straightened then put the 90-degree bend in them but the wire is so small they are hard to hold on to. Actually, #6 copper wire works best for me, you can use an electrical ground wire, just be sure any insulation has been stripped from any wire that you use for better results. Bend each with a 90-degree bend about 7 or 8 inches from the end. Hold on to the short end of the wire, one in each hand, and hold out in front of you. Try to walk parallel to where you think the water line is located. Walk slowly and just shuffle along holding your arms out slightly about 10 to 12 inches apart. The wires will start to cross as you get closer to whatever you want to locate. They will cross then actually cross together. Move forward slowly and they will turn back towards you, move backward and they will move away from you. When they are together whatever you are trying to locate will be right below the wires. I have "witched" telephone cables, sewer lines with water in them, water lines, etc.. Once in a while, I did locate a rock ledge with water around it and that isn't what I was looking for.
Witching is how they marked it
Nice job as usual I hope you use bug spray while working in the wood I wouldn't want you to bring home any ticks. The ticks are bad in my area.
Just a part of being in the country unfortunately
10 thumbs down, what kind of evil person doesn't like the captain.
Tough crowd 😂
Captain I always enjoy your videos on what your doing and your right I would have thought the water line would have been made out of something else. I wonder if the rock was part of the road for drainage of water, I'm really curious about it.
Pretty sure just the edge of a rock shelf. We tend to run into those often
Thanks for sharing Captain 👍 😊
Thanks for watching!
Think it's cool that you know about the old hwy there Bud. I am surprised he didn't have you take the Trenching bucket wasn't that what he made it for.
Doesn’t fit that machine
Good video, thanks for sharing your time with us. :-)
Thanks for tagging along!
4:44 for the camera tumble. I knew you wouldn't let me down. Other channels just don't offer this level of consistency.
Thumbs up for the bonus yacht footage too, it's good to see how it looked later in the day after the pour.
Just trying my best! Thanks for watching
Always liked big stones like that for corners of driveways or ranch entrances.
Perfect for that!
For all the places I have traveled to, those boulders...what, three or four that looked like a round cut off of a tree and then the beavers ate all the way around the outsides of each one making what was left was a core of a apple to make it the absolute most interesting rock or rocks for some pictures that might just hit some nation magazine... t rex's chew bones
I should have gotten out and taken a closer look at them
“Thumbs up” for the Hyundai. /dad joke. 🤦♂️😂😂😂
I see what you did there 😂
Thumbs up for the driver👍
dont knock the mirrors off
with all the digging - do you all ever find fossils or traces of archeological significance?
We have found what I would call common fossils and then. Of course traces of old homestead like bottles and old iron. But nothing crazy
We ran into that problem a lot when I worked for the University of Wyoming, stuff had ben re routed and upgraded so many times over a hundred years that it was almost a guaranty you hit something trying to repair something else.
I kind of feel like all the talk of the water line was foreshadowing digging it up, or you just have that kind of luck.
😂 you might be right
That machine handling those rocks was impressive!!!
Agree!
Over the ridge and through the woods ..... how many bad stories started that way? A lot of very old ones....
😂😂
Counter weight is already scraped...
Who cares
Digging through that rock is good on a new machine....those pins and bushings are wayyyyy to tight from the factory 😂
😂😂
I can't believe that the machine handle the rocks as good as it did they were some big ones
Pretty impressive
Captain you must like it you left the mirrors on it still!!!!
Hilarious
Good afternoon from Devon.
Afternoon!
Big little machine
I was wondering , after watching all you guys do ICF jobs, what do you do with the foam afterward ?
The scrap? Typically dumpster. I’ll save some scraps for a small retaining wall off the yacht.
@@CaptainKleeman the stuff that’s attached to the house itself, does it get painted over or some siding over it ?
@@dignation216 oh I got ya. You can put anything on it that you put on traditional framing. Siding, rock, stucco. What ever a fella wants
@@dignation216
Keep watching and I’m sure we’ll all learn together. You’re just thinking too far ahead. 😉
Nice job on the ditch never know where you are going to find lines
Thank you
Hey there Mike !!! How are you doing??
Think you are smitten with the HX85, certainly seems to be good machine !!
I like the vague guesswork of where the water pipe is, divining rods do work well, have used them a few times, with a fairly accurate result !! Enjoyed the anecdotes of the accidental removal of the pipe, think they were hoping to fill the pond on the sly 🤭🤭🤭
Wise idea to scrape off the snots while the concrete is still green too. Pleased the pour went well for you, bet that was a relief for you 👍😁
"Nimble in the Woods" your new theme name. #NITW
😂😂
Another great job by the Captain 😂👍✌️
Thank you!
Excuse me sir...
Eye eye captain
Glad to see it have a hydraulic thumb now
Me too!
That little machine is Impressive.
Yea it is!
So when is the scheduled completion date for the yacht
No schedule. Depends on the success of the channel
@@CaptainKleeman I was gonna try and surprise the wife and drive up for a vacation next year and meet everyone while we are there.
@@hastingshayandtreefarm4402 well if the TH-cam yacht doesn’t work out there are several rental cabins here as well
@@CaptainKleeman I will be getting with you for sure on that
Those were definitely some interesting rocks with landscape potential.
If I was the landowner I’d be asking for you to pack them out of the woods for future use.
Dang that machine makes it look easy!
She is pretty stout!
@ 420 in "Let's clear some tress" No hard passes today, this is gonna be a good video...
Kinda nice to dig a trench in an existing trench, then you can just fill int he trench to whatever "depth" you were shooting for when you hit rock :)
From captain to rock star and back again 👍 been wondering what you plan on using to finish the outside of the tube yaught with?
Stay tuned !
@@CaptainKleeman let me guess... ship lap 😂
I see the counterweight has seen some dirt already. Great videos.
