Grass Seeding and Straw Blowing on Steep Acreage - AMI Ruckus Rake

  • Seeding with used seeder and doing dirt prep with AMI Ruckus rake. Using the Kubota Skid Loader, I used the AMI power rake to try and remove the majority of the rocks and debris from the yard. Then we hooked up the Woods three point seeder behind the farms tractor and seeded the future lawn. This lot started as a woods lot several weeks ago and will soon be a finished turd that be bush hogged or mowed to maintain their awesome view. Hope you enjoy!

    For the past 2-ish weeks, older, random videos from your channel and DP’s have been popping up in my feed. This particular property has been featured in at least 3 of those videos unless I’m getting it confused with a similar property. I’ve watched the majority of both of your videos so I’ve seen them before too.
    Nope! It’s definitely the same house/propy. No mistaking that beauty and that view!

    We mounted our blower on a trailer i built years ago ..... it just chains on so i can set it off as needed .... trailer holds about 100 bales easily .... we use a trailer mover attachment on the skid steer to move it around .... sometimes we hook it to the tractor .... also have a broadcast spreader to sling the seed on bigger reclaim projects ..... reclaim is what makes those projects shine! good looking work ole buddy!

    Cap’n, that rake slicked the hilltop like a barber school student does his first crew cut!
    That seeder is a great tool too. Metering the seed as it does will really come in handy when sewing in the breeze. I’ve heard that filling a walk along hand crank seeder... 40 times to spread 100lb of KY31 is no fun. I learned that in 1969... I was 15, it was about 100 degrees... that’s what I was doing during the ‘Summer of Love’!!!
    Now about those Channelocks.... is it legal to call a pair of Irwin Groove joint pliers that? Just curious...
    I put out the final video in a series this morning... the same problem that you had, happened to me. A whole SIM card of videos just went bye-bye. Life was so much simpler when we recorded on film... or, was it?

    It is nice to see you check the oil. If you hold the dip stick upright long enough it will usually show full of oil in time.

    Captain, DP and Mr.Millenial, who could ask for any more?? (Shhh, don't tell Aaron 🤫🤭)
    Never use straw over here to cover the seeds, no idea why we don't 🤷‍♂️, just one of those things I suppose......
    You did well to spot a 120, I hear they are a rare breed 😂 or did it come out of the woods to see the younger tractor??
    Always a pleasure to watch your work Mike, keep on smiling and walk that thin red line 👨‍🚒👍

      That is a fair assumption Mike, it has been too cold for shorts, last year had them on since the start of April, only had them on the past two weeks !!! Plenty of rain forecast again for this week, shorts will still be on until September, whatever the weather throws my way !!!!

    Nice little seeder there Cap. See if you can find a seed rate chart for it which should tell you which setting for your desired pounds per acre sowing rate. There also may be a different sized drive sprocket to change that rate as well. Oh and I hate seeing people just slashing open seed bags. If you do it right you can just pull the end of the string used to sew the top shut and it will come unstitched. Then the bags can be reused for other things. /Edit, seed rate chart may be that label on the inside of the lid.

      Funny thing is I noticed at the end of the day, the dang seeder has a seed chart under the full lid! Handy huh? 😂

      @ecclesmilligan8712 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CaptainKleeman Yep very handy. A tip on that chart take a decent photo of it and save it somewhere where you can find it again. I did this because my seed/fert chart was getting very damaged. Also printed it out, laminated it and glued it in a different spot under the lid.
