Nevertheless, the standard rooms are amazing, from the food to the service, and the hotel can also provide you transportation facilities for sightseeing in the city. 5 stars from me and my family.

we were invited there by the maharaja himself as part of a group from my boarding school which was his old school too (Eton college in the uk) - we got to see the private parts too only one wing is the hotel most of it is still private.
@Ashita you are right....there are much better hotel rooms out there in the world with awesome views.... Umaid Bhavan is a "hyped place"...and good for those people who care too much about history and this and that. but If you want to enjoy your stay then there are better options out there.

Been to Umaid bhavan 2000.....such a lovely place
the suites aren't that great. Its good but not that extravagant to be called the best in the world. It just has magnificent exteriors.
