I see these little opossums hanging out in my back yard, along with raccoons...My cat is totally immune to them...she chills out with them💕because she use to be a not so ferel backyard cat, until she became a ferel indoor cat. Hugs.
I used to think opossums we're filthy diseased riden rodents but one day one walked up onto the deck to nibble on some cat food only to notice me & quietly walked away which prompted me to investigate them.i was shocked to find out it's nearly impossible for them to get rabies due the their lower body temp & they aren't really dirty animals. So now I treat them like traveling pets. I think they are really cool . Now if I can just get rid of those skunks😉
So THAT'S how to eat a grape! No wonder I was having so much trouble with it. Thanks, Rose! 😊❤ And a million thanks to this lovely lady for rescuing these little critters who could not have survived without her. True hero, true angel❤
What a cutie Rose is! I love how when she eats her little paws come up off the ground and bounce with every chew! So cute. I wish you and all your pet family all the best. ❤️💜💚
I love possums...and raccoons...skunks...squirrels. Here in the south of Canada (nothing like Florida, unfortunately) possums are a relatively recent addition to our backyard crew. Being city dwellers it is hard for them to find food. I dont think the wild has ever been a great place, but with shrinking habitats and food scarcity it is much worse. Rose is an example and l am so thankful she has the great life she does in a safe place we call a SANCTUARY.
Rose! 🌹 Such a beauty. Possums live in my backyard and in my neighborhood. Thank you for rescuing these precious animals. You are a goddess for your compassion.
I just got my daily dose of cuteness, and more ! Watching the little angels chew so noisily is so adorable. You live in a paradise. Merry Christmas to you and all your "children" .
A wonderful story and as always a reminder for people to slow down when driving and keep an eye out for wildlife (not always easy I know!) It's Christmas Day down under in Australia and am sending love and best wishes to all the animal lovers, wildlife rescuers, rehabbers and relocaters around the world. We have just had huge unprecedented flooding in Australia's far north - and last year I and thousands of others in other parts of Australia survived similar huge floods - so our wildlife and their care groups have been extra challenged. It's not just fires - and we are in peak summer fire season - that affect us! And yes we have possums in Oz not opossums, but all face the same challenges. After 50 plus years of environmental activism, am always thrilled to see how many people everywhere are now caring for animals - and the mere existence of sites like this one attest to this. The interweb (as an IT friend calls it) and technology like mobile phones with cameras has been the best promoter and educator of animal and human rights, and us oldies fighting for the planet and its denizens back in the 70s (and before!) could have used them, along with DNA testing!!!! Let's all pledge to do something for our planet in 2024: if everyone who enjoys a daily dose of this site does one thing eg volunteers for or sponsors a local wildlife or animal rescue group, volunteers for or sponsors a local bushcare or habitat restoration project, or simply on your daily walk pick up litter, it all helps. 💚💙🌏
look at the friend, I love her. Opossums are one of my FAVORITE animals. I have an Opossum plush from Build a Bear and I named my plush Gloria as I have a love for the older names that aren't used as much anymore.
Everybody loves raccoons because their cute. Not when their up close and growling at you. Now opossums on the other hand are cute from a certain point of view. They are chill when up close to you. I'll sit on my back porch with porch cat and usually the opossum I named Willard will stop by and monch on some cat kibble with us. He's a chill guy/girl with us. Very well mannered but damn are they loud eaters. Porch cat and I both don't mind the opossums what so ever but those raccoons are the devil
Adorable. I feed our wild possums at our shop in an industrial area. I've had to gently pick up a baby twice to put them outside when they got stuck in. So adorable.
I love the possum. They come at night and eat cat food. They are very skittish - if I take more food out, they run away and don’t co E back that night. I try to sneak food just out side the door so they won’t hear me. I love these little guys so much. Thanks for befriending the little ones.
I daily feed a half dozen opossums (leave food / water out for them and watch them eat on the security camera). I wouldn't say they're "happiest in the wild." They deal with a lot of stress from cats, racoons, people, the cold / heat, etc. No way my outdoor opossums are happier than Rose, Rose is in heaven and she knows it. Only thing I'd change is for her to have some branches or something to roam around on, maybe wrap her tail around. That said I would never encourage anyone to try to make a wild opossum a pet. That's what makes these types of videos a bit dangerous, people are bound to say "oh I want one! how cuuute" only to realize it's too much work for them once the animal is reliant on them
I had an adult opossum visit me in my house a few times, our screen door was broke and he managed in somehow, went to the bathroom in our bathroom, my cat could care less. He was brave so i wonder if he wasnt being fed by someone. I finally got him out the final time by picking him up by his scruff and he never returned thankfully. I love opossums but they belong in the wild.
Thank you for what you do. I lived in a duplex in Cleveland Ohio. I went the the basement to do laundry, and saw what I thought was a rats' tail. It was a Opossum. Scared me for a second. I didn't tell my landlord immediately, but when I did, he said I should have told him when I saw it. He said his wife would have made a meal out of it. Glad I didn't tell him I wouldn't have wanted to see that cute animal killed.
I love all animals. I once rescued a baby opossum that was cowering on my porch with a deep wound on her back. I took her to the vet, who dressed the wound, and gave me instructions on how to care for the little girl opossum. I kept care of her for a couple of weeks until the day that she attempted to escape from her cage. The wound was healed, so I let her out near the grove of trees in my backyard. That little girl was so clean, and always went on the opposite side of her cage to relieve herself. I was grateful to be able to save that precious baby.
Greetings and Merry Christmas to the good old environmental activists of Australia! 💓 🌏 💓 Excellent, inspiring advice for the New Year. TYSM. Parts of NYC are experiencing flooding from a broken sewer system. In Rego Park, Queens, NYC peoples apartments are flooded with sewer water ie the human crap and urine of a densely populate city. We're all up shits creek without a paddle! Here's to hoping that we can improve our lots in 2024! 🍻 Wishing you a healthy, lucky 2024 ✌️
This is the first time I have ever considered a possum sweet or lovable. They have always just been cringey ugly pests to me before. But I am really tickled by the way Rose raises her front paw(s) off the ground to eat. It's like she's in church, testifying to how good the strawberries are! 🍓🙌🏽
Do you pronounce them opossums or possums?
I like to call them Opossum's. The "O" adds that certain country dignity, lol 🐭❤️
I say both😊
Opossum is their actual name, but I don't believe they really care, as long as they are taken care of and loved ... If you choose one for a pet!!!
Casual conversation, I use "possum". Formal writing, I use "opossum". Been caring for them for over 30 years, whenever the need arises.
Rose ist just a chubby one cutie
I see these little opossums hanging out in my back yard, along with raccoons...My cat is totally immune to them...she chills out with them💕because she use to be a not so ferel backyard cat, until she became a ferel indoor cat. Hugs.

Thank you, Rose's Mum. She really is adorable.
Such a cutie pie!!!
I put out food daily for 8 opossums and love watching them grow. They are so gentle. My cats have sat next to them peacefully.
Beautiful! Oh and the possum is cute too.
Rose is the cutest thing! I have a dropoff cat sleeping in a kitty bed next to my woodstove as I type this-
God bless you and thank you for caring for these precious animals!!!❤❤❤❤❤

E back that night. I try to sneak food just out side the door so they won’t hear me. I love these little guys so much. Thanks for befriending the little ones.
I have never seen an opossum in real life. They look so different. Thanks for taking care of them.
Thank u, i learned something new i always thought they were same opossum and possums
Such a sweet, patient soul is that gal.
Oh those little opossum hands moving in the air as she chomps down on a grape. Too cute😍
Rose is one plump opossum but so cute and as long as she is healthy.
Oh my. How precious. I want one!

I rescued two orphaned opossums and they are great but they only live a couple of years and it’s heartbreaking.
Wish we had this compassion for all the homeless and hurt. Everyday to embrace and do our best from the heart. Thanks for sharing
You did a great job being her mom !!! GOD BLESS YOU
You're absolutely a awesome mother to all your babies. Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 ❤️.
So sweet. It’s a lot of work.
Wonderful story! Helps counter all the bad news you come upon.
I'd be more than happy to snuggle into Rose. What a sweet baby!
It breaks my heart that they have such short lives and get poor treatment because of rabies scare. I find them and raccoons to be very adorable.
❤❤❤
Rose gets some good huggies!
Short lives, amazing to be able to give them such a special one. ❤
Possums all the way.
oh my goodness, Rose is so cuuute ! Thank you for taking care of her.
They both look and sound like possums so this is understandable
