    In this video, i head down to London to meet up with a very inspiring street photographer. Stephen Churcher (@donstevie_street) is one of my favourite street photographers in the UK.
    Steven is one of the most versatile and adaptive street photographers i know. Having multiple skills while being on the streets enables him to always capture the best shot from the conditions given.
    I hope you enjoy the vlog!

    The "googlie' eyes on his flash unit is a nice touch, and might lighten the mood of someone who has just been photographed unexpectedly. Good interview Gareth.

    I am an introvert. I am also invisible.
    I am an introvert until I put a camera into my hands. I don’t feel people on the street see me unless I put the camera to my face and then still may remain invisible. At that point I am in control. I see the the image and am in control. I select the image. I select the frame. I select when the shutter is tripped. This is the only time in my life I feel this powerful.

    I like these pov interviews he's a man with personality and opinion that's not afraid to share them very refreshing. Two shots you took i thought if i took that id wrap up for the day and go home happy. The diagonal of that vintage pink car, plus banger was the reflection in the barber shop window. Quality.

    Taking pictures of the homeless is not always off limit. I’ve been confronted by many homeless people asking me why I’ve left them out when taking pictures. Two homeless people stopped me in Covent Garden and near Trafalgar Sq and asked me if they were not worthy of being photographed too. Every photographer will gather their own experiences.

    Yes, I did enjoy your video and it opened my eyes to the fact that I could never do street photography because I haven't got the bottle ! I can understand some people objecting to your mate's system of sticking a camera into their space/face (I prefer to be in the countryside - away from people !!!!!) ....There are several reasons why:- they are perhaps not meant to be there (for whatever reason !) They could be on the run - from authorities, spouse etc; Or simply that they want privacy. ?

      @@GarethDanks nothing major, just that there seem to be a number of street photographers who dismiss any street photography that isn't shot up close and at f8 or above. Art and style are subjective, sometimes it feels like there is some zoom and shallow DOF snobbery among the established togs. But I love your work and videos.

    Not sure this guy is an extrovert . He operates outside of generally accepted comfort zones but that is a learned behaviour like the performer on a stage . You can be outgoing yet still be introverted . It is not important in the context of this video except that viewers may allow their personality type to be the reason not to do something when in reality it is just an excuse .

  • @danh2358
    @danh2358 ปีที่แล้ว

    How funny you should make a video about introverts. I walked past you in the Northern Quarter in Manchester a month or so ago. I did that double take when you see someone you know and you’re about to stop and say hi but then realise you don’t actually know them and you suddenly look away. The introverts curse.
    I was even out with the express intention of trialling your 2 step focusing for near and far on my Fuji after a video you had done a while back!

    It's a cultural thing. You've got to have an incredibly PASSIVE culture to allow this style. I imagine Stevie makes it incredibly difficult for any street photographer who comes along behind him. If he came to most places in the U.S., outside New York City, he wouldn't last long. Most Americans in public would find him incredibly creepy and suspect. There's nothing artistic about frightening random strangers.

      Photosensitive epilepsy is actually not hugely common and tends to be triggered by flashing or flickering at a certain rate, it is also more common in children and young people so it’s highly unlikely him taking one photograph is going to cause an issue if it’s not a multiple flash. Single or double flashes are unlikely to pose a risk.
