Could probably be an idea to hotglue that dividers instead of using superglue. That way if you want to change it later a simple heat gun will make the hotglue come of without a mark.
You keep getting me in trouble! Bought the Ansell glove (only got forgiven because I got the missus some too. Both love them). Just treated myself to a load from unilite as keep meaning too and keep putting it off. Decent saving by the way, so thank you. And now the missus has caught me eying up the pack out kits. If you don't hear from me within a few weeks send help, or search party.
I looked van storage about 18months ago and found Bott to be pretty good. The racking is well built and fixes to the van without modification and is crash tested. Although the Milwaukee kit looks well built it’s plastic! My whole van racked out (Transit custom) was under £2.5K. Worth looking at the alternatives before committing.
Stanley Pro-Stak here, purely because I don't have the funds or the inclination to spend too much on something that is a very small part of my business. If I were a spark, plumber then deffo go down that route, or if I did data/comms all day every day. That being said I do use Veto bags (and soon to be Velocity) - so my financial statement makes no bloody sense really!!! I do get envious of their latching system though, plus seeing Adam kit out his Connect as it's the same as mine, although I do have an electronics repair bench in there too! It is a lot of money, but then so is Sortimo, Bott etc - and the Packout is more purposeful imho. You do what makes you happy.... but I reckon it is definitely an addiction - as if tools weren't a bad enough addiction as it is!!
I'm a commercial electrical improver atm, so I haven't had the need to fit out a van just yet. Definitely see myself going down this route when the time comes. I have their latest packout bag and slim packout organiser that I attach to the underside to carry my bits and bobs. Perfect combo for moving around a site and multiple floors. Highly recommend. EDIT: Fellow Brit, I say it as "Mill-War-Key".
I’m 77 on 12/12/23 & I still have a tool addiction, I’m an electrician and I still love working but mostly part time, went down to the NEC with my electrical wholesalers CEF and looked at the Milwaukee tools 😢, I’ve got mostly Makita but if I have was just starting out again Milwaukee would be my tools of choice, Makita tools are ok but the boxes are absolutely rubbish, I have some Stanley FATMAX boxes which are 10 times better, love watching your videos 👍.
As someone who switched from Milwaukee to Makita I can attest that Makita beats Milwaukee mate, trust me👍🏻 however their boxes are absolute crap. Milwaukee storage system is great.
I’m looking at getting a van for plumbing and unsure what van layout & shelving to get, this has given me some good ideas thanks, I like the raised floor. Looks like it’s definitely worth getting a van vault.
Really interesting this mate and appreciate you sharing the prices. I reallyyyyyy want to go down the Packout route but just can’t justify the price atm. I’ve got all dewalt T-Stak stuff which does the job but this just looks so practical. I think over time I’ll chip away at a few bits and eventually do something similar to my van like you have..and then when my power tools start failing I might even switch over to the Milwaukee gear
I started with the t stak dewalt stuff. Got about 15 boxes of it for various things but shocking to store in a van. The fact it only has 2 latches to hold another box on top is ridiculous and they snap so easy. Only pro is the dewalt tstak is the same as Stanley prostack so can mix and match. The t stak organizer's are rubbish. Small ferrules and washers kept going into the different storage bins. Milwaukee ones are much much better
Good honest review Nick! Currently as a commercial/industrial electrician i have wooden racking and a magnusson toolbox stack (which pound for pound is very very good). Possibly persuaded into investment in milwaukee in the future although if money is no object then sortimo all the way for me.
If you're talking about the old Magnusson stacks which is now being sold as erbauer then I would have to agree, they are absolutely brilliant. I used mine for about a year and they're really good boxes for the price. However I was getting to the point where I was spending a good 10 minutes looking through crates for a tool that I knew I had but couldn't find. That's when I bought the Milwaukee 3 drawer, a crate and a half worth of tools went into that semi organised and now I very rarely struggle to find a tool. I have since replaced my rolling stack with Milwaukee and the fast locking action is amazing
I'd love to show you a walkthrough of my van, it's the DeWalt version and a lot more woodwork but it cost me about 1500 total but that includes a 5ft drawer under the floor, a 2.5kw inverter. 12 task drawers etc.
Negative:- I’m over £7k in & picked most of it up at a bargain. Positives:- It saves time, saves my back, saves my tools & with a bit of modification, it’s much more secure
I always try and judge it in terms of returns when I buy tools, etc. Will it actually make me any money? I appreciate the convenience of getting to everything quickly and I've been guilty of my van being out of hand with mess. But as nice as it is will you earn from it? I use eurocrates (in stacks of 4 with the bottom one screwed to the van floor. My power tools are in macpack boxes as I got a load on special offer. The Lidl parkside organisers are brilliant and fit perfectly in crates as well. I've got a generic fold down sack truck. Finally I've got a Makita soft bag with wheels which I can chuck a load of stuff in if I've got a bit of a walk to site. I've probably spent about £300 max on storage and it works really well for me. I guess the inconvenience is if something is in the bottom crate that I want I have to lift the others off, but for the investment it works well. Also, I think the amount of space wasted in terms of the actual amount of items you can get into the space taken up by the packout system is not great. There's a lot of plastic taking up room in terms of the sides, the lids, the drawers etc which all takes up van space.
I think there good but i prefer bags, velocity bags for me were a game changer, so much more organized. With regatds to racking id do it out of ply to suit me personally 👍
No idea of the longevity of Milwaukee boxes but I’ve had festool systainer boxes in service for around 15 years. If you buy quality you often need to buy just once.
i own thousands worth of them and they all flew out of my truck bed in a collision, with little to no damage didnt think the plastic tubaware tool god would be holding up as well as it did at all but im happy to see they can take a bit of a beating but a toolbox also would’ve probably survived the toss

Wanted to ask a question not about the pack out gear but your lights in the rear of the van……. What are they and are they easy to install for a none electrician like my self ??? Thanks in advance and keep up the videos
Food for thought. Ask how valuable time is to an 80 yr old. The most value is in off loading boxes and into your worksite. Secondary your van breaks down and you need to moove your tools into another vehicle while you wait 4 months for repair parts to come in. Lastly your van is totaled/traded. Modular = movable into work sites,or new vehicles. Now ask the 80yr old again. Don't spend money you can't afford to.

Bosch was the first (honestly, they are first for a lot of things but rarely get the credit they deserve) with their L-BOXX system in 2009, which is a Sortimo design. Sortimo has been around doing similar things since at least the 70s.

Until the consumer (you) starts demanding value for money, Milwaukee and others will continue to take the piss out of you. £2500 for about £200 worth of materials. They saw you coming!!
Material costs don't pay for the teams of people who design products, nor the volume shipping storage or distribution associated with products, let alone the design patent costs around the planet where you want to sale too. It really adds up a lot, and you get a small window to get a realistic return on investment, and all the middlemen take their margins. How much would you have spent on a van-racking system instead? With the Stanley fat max trays, there are two types each a different type of plastic one is more robust than the other. With these thing it's like light fitting some major brands specd are over a hundred pounds each and you look at it and think how can that cost that much. 2.5k is definitely cheaper than sortimo, I had my van done out with sortimo and got way less stuff for a lot more money, and also nothing similar like the packout trolley chest to take it all on site.

Mill-wal-quay (key) but different if pronounced in native American ( you don't pronounce the l in mill) I believe. And the items are IP65 rated waterproof. Which is pretty good. I'm currently upgrading dewalt t-stack to either dewalt tough system, or the milwalkee pack out. New to dewalt is the option to clip smaller units together and crates, but like the pack out wall and floor mounts that I'm not sure the others do yet.
The pack out is over priced but the one thing I do like by them is there m12 drill and driver I’ve had the set for 3 months and not touched my 18v drill or driver well worth the money but to be honest you could get away with stably tool bags
It’s a dumb as thing to say they are expensive and simply say it’s just “plastic”. That’s like saying a electrician is overpaid. Your paying for development, tooling, R and D all sorts of other costs of production.
I think unfortunately tradesmen these days, rather concentrating more on the job and how good the work is They go for all these trends are very expensive bags compartment. When you really look at it, you won’t need all that stuff and how often do you use all the stuff you’ve got not that often
Mil-war-kee bud, for cable i have 3: 2 and a half ft galv steel handrails mounted vertically to the van floor to store the reels upright, mint for pulling off (pardon!!!!) a few meters whilst leaving in place. and the drums stay in good condition.
Massively bulky and most of it is in the van. Your not dragging it all over site. Simplify you gear , you don’t need all of that. Van kit out for. £2.5 k plus van vaults still cheaper than sortimo.
I say mill-walkie You said you got the first aid kit from amazon, they're not an official seller of milwaukee so if you're buying the packout stuff from them milwaukee may not honour the warranty
I don’t think it really matters how you say it, but it’s not the mil you’re getting wrong. I think it’s the wau bit, you say milwokkee but it’s milwarkee
Milwaukee is all overpriced. I work with other engineers who are mat-scientists, steel or PA6 (30 or above) whole van in around £650. I admire the Milwaukee reps and branding, they’re proper predators. Nasty spiteful, gimlet-eyed PR. Fair play to them. That said, I really like your vids and I really hope you’re doing better now. You are a great guy and talented. Caring too much can be a curse too! Stanley fat max trays are also well sealed. I am glad you’re happy with tradify. Loads of free or cheap CMO apps, I wouldn’t use a boxed system. They look like those useless goals at apadmi coded their facile system. Wix/Squarespace give you all the merchant services you need without being rinsed. Perceived negativity notwithstanding your channel is great, recently re-subbed (YT break, not you)
Could probably be an idea to hotglue that dividers instead of using superglue. That way if you want to change it later a simple heat gun will make the hotglue come of without a mark.

I have some stuff from that rakout guy, he's a bit cheaper than the milwaukee ones and better quality
At least being self employed you can write a significant portion off against your taxes.
'Kerfuffle' is not used enough these days
Surprised there is no Chinese knockoff equivalents
Deffo overpriced that’s why I stuck with euro boxes for kit and dewalt toughsystem for tools
Mill-Walk-Key
Mill- wall-key
Mill Walk Eee
I say it, Milwaukee.
Mil-wor-key is how I say it.
Mil, War, Key
Im walking here !!! Mwokee
Wrong
Massively bulky and most of it is in the van.
Your not dragging it all over site.
Simplify you gear , you don’t need all of that.
Van kit out for. £2.5 k plus van vaults still cheaper than sortimo.
I say mill-walkie
You said you got the first aid kit from amazon, they're not an official seller of milwaukee so if you're buying the packout stuff from them milwaukee may not honour the warranty
Mill Waw Kee.. -_- / yes, the black kit is awesome over the red. Just call it M'Waukee 🤣 We know what you mean in the States - mother-tongue and all 🤣
I don’t think it really matters how you say it, but it’s not the mil you’re getting wrong.
Perceived negativity notwithstanding your channel is great, recently re-subbed (YT break, not you)
I pronounce it as
Mill
Walk
Eeeeee
Haha 😂
MIL WALK E
The price of the mounting plates is a joke
Mill waaakkkeeeeeeyyyy
Could get another van for £2500
Phonetically I say mill walk e
mill-war-key
Mill Walk ee
