    Alex, thank you for taking your time going through the whole car, as this was one of my favourite Taikyu ST-2 cars from back then. Really appreciate it!

      Same here. It was cheap too; like 25-28k.. but the stock drivetrain and the fact that you could register it made me pass.

    wow I cannot believe that a lot of this car is stock. Like you guys said in the video, some people just go way too far with power and built engines. All that stuff adds weight too. Just like the old lotus saying, simplify and add lightness.

    EJ207s are much better design and built than the crummy EJ257s, goddamn Subaru keeping the good stuff for their homeland.

    • @AmirPomen
      @AmirPomen 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Because most american driver have perception than bigger displacement motor is always better...
      In subaru case.. it wasnt...
      The longer stroke crankshaft upset the rod ratio and piston speed at high rpm... (Explaining why ej257 rev to 6500rpm and ej207 rev to 8000rpm)
      Then there is issue with piston ringland...since the longer stroke, and the engine cannot grow wider, subaru have to move up the piston ring and wrist pin location (compared to ej207)... And the closer top ring to piston surface definately induced more risk to detonation that lead to broken ringland...
      And the ultimate issue is head gasket sealing surface.. such big 99mm or close to 4" bore in open deck/semi closed deck block means head gasket mating surface area were smaller ("weaker") than the ej207 counterpart...
      Hence for short speed burst like drag strip, ej257 is fine.. but for roadcourse and extended speed run, ej207 (or built ej205) is far better and reliable...
      Lack of torque can be solved with shorter jdm gear ratio anyway (or custom dogbox gear set)

    • @aaronbryan5095
      @aaronbryan5095 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AmirPomen also I get the feeling that EJ architecture was never meant to be pushed to such a big displacement(for a gasoline 4 cylinder production engine), but in the end Subaru still did it cuz of their American customers' pErCePtIoN.

    Awesome. Do more of these.
    Also, is it just me or is Ryan over-slowing for the corners at the end? It seems like he brakes, then has to give some gas to speed up to apex. Not knocking on his driving, just trying to learn...I've only driven this track in games.

    • @time_attk
      @time_attk 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it's a Subaru AWD thing.
      I do similar things when I drive my bugeye, the car like to push when I'm off throttle, and the my car will actually turn better if you are on-throttle with the LSD and DCCD working.
      Obviously doesn't really work on the car like the Supra, and honestly one of the reasons I want to drive different cars to improve my driving.
