Hey Rusty, Atlantic wakes up from another of its snoozes (this year it seems to get frequently winded - pun intended). But this is serious business brewing for the Gulf while we in Jamaica got some sweet rains from Helene-to-be (at least from St. Ann Parish to Kingston/St. Andew). Will not be fun for the Gulf folks.

Ian went from a 3 to a 5 from Cuba to Cape coral why would this hurricane not be at least a cat 5 when it has twice the water to cover with nothing to stop very rapid intensification.

I would expect there to be some good downpours at least through tomorrow. There could be some localized flooding, but, Jamaica will not see the higher, more direct impacts from Helene. -Rusty

That is forecast, from the National Hurricane Center, to become a major hurricane. There will be some impacts for the Caribbean, but potential catastrophic impacts for the Gulf Coast. Can’t just look at today. -Rusty
