    Enjoyed the interaction of two sisters who care about each other. And it was informative about being home schooled and then going on to college classes. Thank you!

    I just love watching you talk with your family and hearing different perspectives. As an only child who is also raising an only child, I have always loved observing siblings. Your family is so close. You all are so lucky! Thank you for sharing your sweet family. ❤

    It was very kind and generous of you Rachel to take on this task of helping your sister with the whole college admission's things that need to be done! It is indeed overwhelming.
    I feel like I failed my just-graduated high school senior in this regard.

      To me, the whole admissions process and scholarship applications and figuring out financial aid packages is an entire set of specific 'skills' that simply aren't really part of life for a homeschooler (and even for a teenager in general)...sitting together to do it as we walked through the forms and how to search for scholarships that you qualify for was a way that I knew to make it less intimidating than to simply say "you're on your own." Although I know that a lot of students do figure it out on their own--my husband did when he was applying to colleges back in the day. But when it's possible, it's nice to have someone to go through the process with you.

      @@SevenInAll It's very nice to have someone take you through the process. I just couldn't do it. I'm divorced, and I work out of the home. This particular child went to public school (my ex-husband wouldn't let me take him out) And they do try to guide you through the process. They send a LOT of emails. A LOT of texts. A LOT of reminders. Too many to go through on a regular basis to be frank.
      Between homeschooling my dyslexic first grader, work and just trying to keep things running at home, something had to give.
      Thankfully, my son is a talented athlete. And the coach at our local community college walked him through the process of at least attending that school. It was a blessing for sure. But I can't help thinking that my honor roll student who always gives 100% deserved bigger opportunities. Oh well.

    Mary Grace is so beautiful and well-spoken. 😍
    Her artworks are reminiscent of some illustrations on TGATB books. I've always wondered how/where they find their illustrators that I often Google their illustrators by name and then go through their portfolios if I find them. 😃

    Thanks for the great video! Such kindness between you two. Quick question: you mentioned something about a video you made about teaching Writing. Can you link where to find it that video? Thanks!

      I have two videos, my approach to teaching writing: th-cam.com/video/bboLksR-q90/w-d-xo.html
      and how to improve writing skills: th-cam.com/video/sEwOP7VlVpA/w-d-xo.html
      Both of these are aimed at probably 5th grade and above....once the fundamental skills necessary for writing are in place (i.e. handwriting, spelling, original thought, etc.)

    • @SevenInAll
      @SevenInAll  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Driving is not great where we live...in fact, I avoid driving as much as possible. I learned to drive in rural Michigan which was NOT ideal preparation for driving in SE Asia. I still love driving on country roads in MI. lol!

    • @SevenInAll

      They're retirees now who always manage to stay busy and involved in their community! My Dad was an engineer working in the automotive industry for most of my life.

    • @SevenInAll
      @SevenInAll  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's worth getting the idea across that art is not necessarily SOLELY about free expression. That's an important aspect. But most people employed in art-related fields have to develop specific skills and also have to do a great deal of artwork 'on assignment' vs. purely out of their own imagination and passion. That can be one of the differences between art as hobby and art as career (and art as career is definitely not the right path for every artist at heart! It can be tough to seek to support yourself/your family through your passion and talent).

    My teenager finds there is plenty of stuff to do as he’s sporty and he often hangs out with his friends and some aren’t homeschooled!!! We have both group and one to one cultures here!!! I enjoy encouraging my kids in their future and tailoring their education to their future!!! I want to give my kids a good foundation for their future!!! We probably will require geography with having a international family!!! I have siblings around the world!!! I think my kids will end up here tho and stay at home but it depends on our local university!!! My older daughter wants to go to our local functional medical school!!! I’m pleased with that!!! I’m glad that my kids have class as well as homeschooling as I feel like they have the best of both worlds!!! I feel a good teacher is passionate!!!

    • @SevenInAll
      @SevenInAll  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I would say that most of her friends were not homeschooled--with homeschool being fairly uncommon here, all of our friends were attending local schools.
