  • Wow. I realize I'm new to BTS, but I had no idea how deep they go with their lyrical and visual messages. This group truly is art. I love to see true artists at work. I definitely need to learn more about these guys. Thanks for commenting this video guys! And I can't wait for their album to drop.

You will realize the deeper you get into BTS that they have been doing this for years.
We have a saying in the ARMY: "Namjoon analyses the word, Yoongi criticizes the world, and Jhope visualizes the world"
I honestly believe it's very accurate. Namjoon is always the one asking the questions and opening his mind (and thus by association, BTS' and our minds) the the idea of there being no perfect answer or solution. (examples, who can define happiness? Who can define love? Who are we? What is the purpose of life and love?, etc)
Yoongi has always been the most blunt, the most straight-forward and the most willing to share his beliefs, whether they are received positively or negatively, he does not seem to care. He's called out South Korea's mandatory male-only conscription rules, the education system (they all have), class system, and bluntly stated his support of LGBTQ+ persons. And this is in ULTRA conservative S. Korea.
And Jhope visualizes the world, but it's always a world that is after betterment of the self. You will always see him seek the positive changes and the constructive outcomes, no matter how humble the beginnings.
That isn't to say there isn't some overlap, since obviously they work together on the music and their projects.
But yeah. All this to say. Yes, they've always been this introspective and deep. They have had to be very very careful about it for many years since S. Korea is a very "face-saving", conservative, still overall conformative society. But especially in their pre-debut soundcloud releases and solo albums, you can tell that whatever they could not say on an official album, they said in their side projects.

I can understand if you think this is all bs at first 😂 but it’s really not. Bts has been doing this for years. like other people said a number of their albums are connected to books. There’s also the Bangtan universe (BU) which follows a fictional storyline. I’m going to subscribe I’m really interested in seeing you someone who has so little prior knowledge on them discover their many sides which trust me there’s a lot

I just realized how overwhelming all this is for newcomers, lol! You have to understand that all this originally started with the previous album, Map of the Soul: Persona. This was when we were all introduced to Carl Jung's theories of the human psyche, through a book called Jung's Map of the Soul, written by Dr. Murray Stein. If you really want to get a better understanding of it, I highly recommend reacting to BTS's music video Intro: Persona and then afterwards, react to DKDKTV's explained on it. It gives a very basic rundown of Jung's theories and will give you a better understanding of everything.
Here's a fun fact, when Dr. Stein saw that his book was suddenly selling like crazy and that BTS was the reason, he checked into the album, analyzed the lyrics and praised them for it on a podcast. He was so grateful to them for bringing a new generation of Jungian enthusiasts, that he even dedicated his next book to BTS! Map of the Soul Persona - Our Many Faces.
Watching this must have felt like a bomb dropping on your brain lol. I really hope you find this comment or a similar one!

These 7 young men are extremely talented and intelligent. RM, the leader has an IQ of 148 (genius). All 7 are talented/ smart in different ways. Their CEO and team are crazy smart as well. Don't get overwhelmed. MAP OF THE SOUL: 7 Interlude: Shadow is the continuation of their last album. Therefore I think it will be hard for you to just jump into it without knowing the back story. BTS base their last and upcoming album (drop 2/21) off of Carl Jung's book - Map of the Soul. Be patience, they are worth it. I suggest you listen/ react to their older songs first. Don't worry about the meaning too much. Just enjoy the visual, dance, and sound. Then slowly dive into the meaning behind each song. ALL their songs carried deep meaning. BTS never really created any superficial song (not that I know of any). That's their charm. Deliver deep meaningful message in an upbeat beautifully written song you can jam to. Hope you enjoy the journey.
Edited: I forgot to mention, my husband and I love BTS. My husband preferred to just enjoy the music and dance without diving into the meaning behind their song. I preferred to check out everything. To each their own

Not to mention the ENITRE Bangtan Universe (BU) side storyline. It's a lot. I too would suggest enjoying the music, videos and especially live performances first. Then slowly get into the meat of the work. But that's just one way to do it:)

This explained video is most likely for the army, because it contains much info that new listener will be confused (too much to catch).
For friendly explaination u can watch shadow explained by XCELESTE.
BTS has so much to say from political view, social phenomenon and self growth. Their lyrics and video are deeper than it seems.
Here’s a list to the song that has explained video because it is carry a deeper meaning.
    1. Song : IDOL ( you can watch explained video for this by DKDKTV)
    2. Song : DDAENG (it is a genius worldplay, watch the explained video by DKDKTV also)
    3. Song : Spring day (dedicated for a tragedy in korea, watch explained video by bulletproof vibes)
    4. Song : Baepsae (it is more about their political view. I think DKDKTV also made an explained vid about this
    5. Song : Spinebreaker ( also by DKDKTV )
Fun fact : BTS song is kinda has a twist. You listen to it and “oh this is a fun song” and then u read the lyrics 🤔😱 it is quite the opposite of fun 😂

"Who think of this??!" - yep, welcome to every ARMY's life 24/7 😂😂😂😂
And Yes, it is that deep.
BTS have been doing it for years now, their music is much more than just catchy beats. They always reference art pieces, books, lately also psychology and Greek mythology in order to express themselves, tell us stories about themselves but also stories that are universal for young people and I guess ppl in general, regardless of their age (thus so many fans are way above their 20s and 30s, myself included).
And that's why ARMY is constantly being frustrated by western media not paying any attention to it but focusing rather on their looks, "boyband-formula" and treating BTS's fans as a bunch of screaming, obsessed teenagers.
We are here for the ART.
    We're here for the MESSAGE.

This is why many of the songs have explained videos. Bts albums will allways have a theme and lately they have drawn their themes from books. The wings era was inspired by a book Damian by Herman Hesse that dealt with ones inner struggle with temptations to learn who they are. This recent era is inspired by Carl Jungs Map of the soul. They have referenced many books in their music videos also. They leave army hints that we can find and then with those hints we can start to get the themes and understand their message better. For example, before Map of the soul era started, Jungs map of the soul book became to sale on bts official merch site. And their albums songs follow a journey. So when you listen songs in the album order you will see the progress in songs. 💜

    • @amanacer3088
      @amanacer3088 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Troy Cornaro
Your information is not entirely accurate 3.42 Million is the number of albums ordered from the distributor by the vendors (this is the amount of albums various vendors have requested for stock not the amount actually ordered by those making pre orders we won’t know those numbers until later) As for sale record pre orders are included in the first week sales(I believe the record is like 5Million worldwide by Adel but don’t quote me on that the 3Million amount was sales in the USA alone) Now KTOWN has reported 179k+ pre orders in the first week (it took a month for that number on Persona) & understand that is only one vendor. I honestly think BTS will break the record or at least come extremely close.
This is for comparing First-week reported (stock) pre-orders:
      Her - 1,051,546
      Tear - 1,449,287
      Answer -1,511,910
      PERSONA - 2,680,000

Yes, they have and are a big part of the creative process... The leader of the group RM is a big bookwork and a classical and contemporary Art lover.. the members are all lovers of Art to various capacities, and together with the team at BIG HIT their ideas are taken to the next level.... the members write their own lyrics and mainly the three rappers (RM is one of them) play also a huge part in the production of the songs and the themes to explore. Along with the company's other in-house producers and the CEO of the label (Bang Shi Hyuk aka Band PD) who happens to have graduated from one of the top universities in Korea with a degree in aesthetics, they come up with the most dynamic and amazing visual and auditory concepts, music and art...so Basically BTS and Big Hit are an amazing team and you just witnessed their genius.

I would like to add that Jungkook(main singer) is also contributing more and more lately. He contributed to, if I remember correctly, 13 or 14 tracks on the Map of the soul : 7 album that count 19 tracks total. He also wrote, composed and produced the song ''Your Eyes Tells'' on the japanese album Map of the soul : 7 the journey. And V's Sweet Night brokes Adele record even though it's an unpromoted ost. ''Moon'' by Jin reached #1 on US iTunes charts. It's not just the rap line but every members that are contributing in their own way and they are all currently on the top of the charts.

they do have hands in their creative process. in their interview with grammy museum, they mentioned how since predebut they have promised to make music based on their experience, what they want to say and would follow their direction, and their own ceo make sure they stick to that. also, u can watch their livestream on vlive whenever they released a new song/album bcos they would talk about the process behind the production and the idea of it.
the vid is an intepretation of that person BUT it ain't entirely just "intepretation" as the album is ACTUALLY based on the book - Maps of the soul and its Jung theory. so yeah... with BTS, its goes wayyyy deeper than anyone would think of.

Big hit and BTS really put a lot of thought and planning into their craft and they been doing this since the beginning. Some time we shock at what they could come up with. Many comment already mention about the connection through out their mv. Yes that true. Shadow might be short video but there many clue and symbols that have us think back to their older mv. So this explanation video is one of many that touch on what is currently bts Suga Shadow mean ... there are other explanation with more detail but it all base of Carl Jung: map of the soul.
Every bts comeback make me feel like I’m a new fan all over again lol ... I try to go into the theory but I give up lol I leave it up to Detective and theory Army .... I rather enjoyed the explanation video 😂

the best thing about bts is that their music and concepts revolve around their interests and personal growth. Namjoon has been mentioning about the artists mentioned in the video and taehyung even took pictures with some Basquat images in a musem that were refernced here. There is alot of hard work behind the scenes and we've seen members reading books that were later refernced to in their work. They take inspiration from alot of areas and we are able to join them in it as they share their thoughts often on vlive (live streams) and bangtan bombs (behind the scenes videos) and so, we can join them and have our own personal growth too. BTS is really group that you can like simply for music or mvs or lyrics or concepts but really, if you know them in entirety, it is much more intense holistic and beautiful experience.
P.S a lot of things mentioned in this video are linked to previous ones so the best thing would be to start from the start (if you really want to understand meanings). Otherwise, there are many mvs and music that you can simply enjoy as is too! Hope you have fun!

Welcome to BTS world. They have tons of say in the creative process. RM is a literal genius with an IQ of 148. He reads extensively and this isnt the first time they reference literature in their music. Several other members have high IQs ad well. As a fan prepare to be educated in many ways. Rm M had said he likes to make music that challenges the listener.
This new series of album represent a new era that is based on Jungian philosophy. It directly refers to the point in their lives they are experiencing as all their other ears have. They have openly talked about have they have reached a higher level of fame than they ever expected and they even struggled quite a bit with their identity.
One thing I have noticed about Koreans in general. They are very insightful, artistic and emotional.
We expect the new album to address the EGO. But don't worry too much. Not every song is this deep but they all do tell a story or fit in a narrative they ate trying to convey.
We all joke that when you're an ARMY your IQ increases! Many have read all the books they have referenced and RM iften suggests books to us.
When I say there is no one like BTS....there is no one like BTS. They are more than music, they are an entire artistic movement. It's just sad so many people dont give them a chance.
    Peace.
PS. If you run across a video that seems confusing there are several reactors that have explanation videos. They are necessary because sometimes they reference Korean metaphors that get lost in translation to us. They are very helpful.

  • @flyushkifly
    @flyushkifly 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

RM and BTS actually give ARMY reading lists. Just google and you will find them. The most significant books of earlier eras (collection of albums) were Hermann Hesse’s Demian, Ursula LaGuin’s The One’s Who Walk Away from Omelas, and many more. While the lessons learned from those continue, the most important text for examining the collective meaning of the songs in the Map of the Soul era is Murray Stein’s Jung’s Map of the Soul: an Introduction. (Fun fact: Stein dedicated his next book to BTS 😄) Most ARMY theorists were sure this album would be named Shadow or Ego based on what we had put together from Persona, the first album in the trilogy, but they called it 7 to throw us for a loop and named the interlude Shadow and possibly the title track Ego, instead.
FYI this is one of the reasons ARMY gets triggered when someone says we only like them for their visuals. 😂

The concept of BTS’s newest album arc “Map of the Soul” is based off of Swiss psychiatrist and founder of analytical psychology Carl Jung and his theory of individuation. Individuation is a process that every individual must go through in their lives, Carl Jung saw it as a way to become most “whole” by the process of recognizing and integrating all parts of the human psyche into one.
In Jung’s model of the human mind, he broke the psyche down into different parts, our Persona, Shadow, Ego, Anima/Animus and the Conscious & Unconscious. All of these come together to make who we are or Self. And the more aware that we all can become of our own self.. like what makes up our own persona or shadows.. the closer we get to becoming whole or our best selves.
It’s very interesting stuff, it’s very deep.. if you want to get to know/understand what they’re talking about, you have to do a little bit of research about Carl Jung and his teachings about self.
Yes BTS write their own music! The theme and ideas for what album concepts they do are a group effort between BTS and Bighits creative team.
What I know about this concept is that BTS’s CEO Bang Shihyuk recommended a few books for RM/Namjoon to read to gain insight into what concepts they’d like to explore next and one of the books he suggested was “Jung’s Map of the Soul” by Murray Stein who is a Jungian Analyst. Jungian Analysts are people who devote their life’s work to studying and learning about Carl Jung’s teachings. And from this, their album concept was born. The lyrics they write about are based off these concepts, but are more specific/personal to them and who they are.

Since I have become a BTS army and I am in the 40 years old range, I can tell you that I've learned so much from BTS lyrics and messages.
    - I've learned to never give up
    - I've learned to understand that mistakes that I've done are parts of me and I've learned from them and they continue to remind me to not make the same mistakes and learn from them
    - i've learned about various of arts through BTS music vdos.
    - I've learned to love myself and love others
    - I've learned more about psychology theories and greek methodology through their musics when these were not part of my interest before
    - I've learned about a true world wide team work exist when seeing ARMY all around the world collaborate together to make the world a better place through ONE in an ARMY project . They have projects such as blood donations, donations to recent amazon fire, clean up at beaches worldwide, projects to help seniors around the world, etc.
    - Honestly I feel that I've learned so much from this group more than my me spending 20+ years studying.
I have pledged myself to continue spreading positive messages for them and because of them. Just like what RM said it is important to say what the world needs and how to help the world.

BTS's work are way more deeper than it seems on surface...And yess they part take in their evry work...be it writing lyrics...producing... Concepts of their music videos...their choreography...how they present their act and music.
Their these MAP OF THE SOUL series is based on Carl Jung's Jungian psychology.....
1st album of these series was MAP OF SOUL:PERSONA which deals with BTS'S PERSONA ,their onstage image which is happy cheerful and giving tribute to their fans called ARMYs
This 2nd album called MAP OF THE SOUL 7 is based on other aspect of Jungian psychology i.e shadow and ego which deals with their inner conflicts and how they come to accept those.
BTS'S DISCOGRAPHY is very deep and impressive but since its in korean not evry1 understands and dugs deep .....But we armys do ....we are used to breaking down their evry lyrics ...their music videos ....bcz they r so so deep
I suggest u ...evrytym u watch BTS'S MVs or hear their songs .....do look out for the lyrics and watch explanation videos ....i bet u will be heavily impressed...
There's a reason why they such a dedicated fanbase ARMY 😊

And This is one of the main reasons that BTS are in a league of their own. They are so far beyond any bubblegum pop - kpop or western. Who else can incorporate Carl Jung into such a medium? They are not shallow and a flash in the pan. This is how they can appeal to those in my age and educational bracket as well as to teenagers. They truly cross all demographics. The Universe is Infinite and I look forward to it's expansion where BTS is involved. Mind Blown Sensory Overload - check and check.

You asked who thinks of this? BTS thinks of this. I will tell you that since I've been a BTS fan I have read more books and studied more theories. Like you, I didn't even know videos were that deep until I discovered BTS. I honestly feel since becoming a better person. I am becoming a more well round individual because of a hip hop pop rock group. They really have taught me to question? Things are not always obvious. BTS wants us to scratch the surface and look inside. There is the scene where Suga sits on the stage, the figures are on the other side of the stage, You can see their shadows though the stage. This week, BTS reveal an art project around the world. One of the ART pieces that was revealed, shows us what those Shadows look like as an art exhibit on the other side of the stage. Mine Blown. BTS is one of the greatest rides you will take. The fans who have been here since the beginning have the advantage because the understand clues in the videos from the early days, such as the images of
R U L8. We see those clues but don't know what they mean. Their new single is set to release. We are trying to break in to the U.S market. There are still people who don't know who they are. BTS still does not get radio play, even though they are the biggest band in the world. We want to change that, not just for BTS but others that follow them. Thank you for your reaction. I did subscribe & like.

I have been following them since 2016 when I was introduced to kdrama by my sister and then they were mentioned in one kdrama I was watching and started looking who they are on google. I got interested coz they were cute. But after listening to their songs and finding out that there is a story line behind their songs and music videos. That’s what got me hooked to their music. They don’t write music for the sake of just writing. All their songs are so well thought of and put together and most of them are either created through their emotions or based on books. Like Damien, omelas, jung’s map of the soul and esmeralda. Love them for their smarts, visuals, humble personalities, and their creative visions of music, choreographies and artistic talent. Welcome to BTS black hole. Once you JimIn you can’t jimOut of it.😊✌️

As I have watched all reactions up to this one, I must say you won’t understand it all, because EVERYTHING LITERALLY CONNECTS. You need to go to beginning. All their albums and nearly all their MVs connect, to create their BU = BANGTAN UNIVERSE full of theories, and storylines they’ve created for the overall entertainment beyond the music. Mind blowing I KNOW. However, I really enjoy your open mode mess, and overall enjoyment of this, looking forward to future reactions as well.

BTS just has so much... they do this deep introspective stuff which blows it out of the water, but then they are lighthearted and funny in so many other places. It's duality and its so sharp. Its a visual, audio experience with so many facets. They are 'fascinating' and the more I learn, the more curious I am.

BTS not just giving you music you can listen. it will grow on you.

Yes Map of the Soul comes from Carl Jung’s philosophy and BTS is breaking it down in their journey and how they evolved. Don’t be surprise if they come out with a “Map of the Soul:Self” album. You need to look at Carl Jung’s map of the soul diagram and the breakdown to understand BTS as not just performers....they are in a whole different level when it comes to their art and what they love! They are out of this world...they are not from Earth! RM is a big fan of Carl Jung! He’s the mastermind behind this...and they are way ahead of the game than any artist or group out there. And having a producer like Mr. Genius Bang PD....created a solid foundation for BTS to stand and just keep moving forward with the 2000% support of ARMY....they are here to stay!

Bts. Bts does. That's why I attracted to them. Army are attracted to them. They speak more to the soul rather than the other 'pop' singer. And the way they interpret everything is so make sense. Okay, maybe it's not them who is wholly do the mv concepts, photos, etc, etc..but the fact that their company is understand their direction and give support of mv, photos, vcr on the same line of their music & lyric is astounding.

So BTS albums are generally released as series. The current album series/trilogy is called Map of the Soul, which is the same title of a psychology book called Carl Jung's Map of the Soul.
RM, the leader of BTS is very smart, who has an IQ of 148 and was in the top 1.5% if South Korea upon graduating. He is very into philosophy and will talk about books he's reading and artists that he's been looking at during his live streams - so yes, it's most likely that BTS control the direction of content like this.
The Comback trailer is considered like a thesis of the upcoming album. Intro: Persona was for the album, Map of the Soul (MOTS): Persona; which delves into their public personas (always there for their fans, bright and happy, etc).
Interlude: Shadow will be for the album, MOTS: 7, there will be another comeback trailer next month, before the album called Ego. Its speculated that it would be an Outro.

I think this was the most accurate explanation that I've seen of this but you may be confused as BTS' music follows a chronological path and without at least having an idea of their past work you can fall to the wayside. They've written their feelings into their music from since the beginning and the albums are literally their journey through life. I recommend you at least listen to the Map of The Soul: Persona album and watch Bookish Theories on the songs from it (in order) to get a better sense of what Map of The Soul: 7 will entail.

I felt like i was sent back to school permanently because every album sends me to do research and I'm literally learning as much I was when I was in college. BTS is part of the legacy I want to leave my children with, I want them to feel hope and to know that there is still hope amongst this dark times. The world is a potluck of people from all over and understanding oneself and being open minded, we can learn to coexist. It's comforting to know that such young individuals have not given up, I do not want my children to give up either.

  • @LadyAlustria

This was really a great explanation about a lot of symbolism in the lyrics. Of course, there was a LOT not mentioned about the props/set as well. There are other explanations that explain those and it just gives it a whole other layer of complexity and deep meaning. BTS like to keep us on our toes. They often compliment us for our intelligence and ability to sleuth out the clues and crumbs they give us. They also enjoy seeing what we interpret and come up with. It's one of my favorite parts of our relationship.
Honestly, if you're going to get to know BTS, you really need to do it right, that means, you start at the beginning... Watch them grow, listen to their messages, of course, there are LOTS of explanation videos for ALL of their work, which is really helpful for understanding the cultural and language influence in their songs/videos. Then you can delve into the story line. There is a very in-depth and detailed fictional story that runs through SOME of their videos (they are marked with BU in their descriptions). There is also the NOTES (a book that they released that has snippets of the story, it's like a log or diary for all of the members' characters). There is a webtoon as well as many videos from concerts. It is a LOT of information, content, and deep thinking, and one that ARMY loves. Once you catch up, there is a YT channel, xCeleste, who has a really great breakdown of the BU (Bangtan Universe) story line that you can watch and it should catch you up and help you understand everything that is about to start coming out. Just remember, it's all fictional, it's not based on their real lives. Good-luck, it's a deep rabbit hole, but it's one heck of a ride you will never forget.
Also, it would be helpful if you got to know each member a bit better as well as their struggles. You've seen the nobodies to legends (that was by xCeleste, btw) but there are other videos that give detailed information about the group and individual members. Just keep in mind, some of it is outdated and it's a bit 1-dimensional. It's just to give you a snapshot of who they are but people are complex, there are many sides to them and even if they have some habits or tend to act a certain way often or at one point, they are not ALWAYS like that and they change over time, so don't take it as an absolute. Also, I suggest the video of BTS Hardships, also by xCeleste, it goes more in-depth into what they & ARMY faced to get to this point. Lastly, be careful with what information you do learn. What I mean is, there is a LOT of misinformation out there about BTS, the individual members, and ARMY. Some of it even veteran ARMY do not realize is false. So the best way to get to know the guys is just take the time and watch their content, there is a lot of it on YT and Vlive app. And with anything, question everything and do your own research.
For example: There is a really good video out there that talks about the members and helps you get to know them better, however, even though it's really good and informative, there are some facts that are just simply not true but has spread through the fandom as fact. Like, in the video it says that Hoseok (j-hope) joined Big Hit as a vocalist and Taehyung (V) joined as a rapper and then they ended up switching roles... this is not true. When Hoseok joined BTS at the time it was an all rap group, at some point, the CEO decided to debut the group as an Idol group and vocalists were added (that includes Taehyung). The reason this became "fact" in the fandom is because Hoseok took vocal lessons because HE wanted to sing as well (and he is a beautiful singer) and because vocalists with deep voices (like Taehyung) are not common in South Korea and are normally made to rap in Idol groups, but it was never intended for Taehyung to rap, he was always a vocalist. (though he LOVES the rap line and their songs and really looks up to them and enjoys rapping to their work, especially their Cypher series).
I apologize for the novel, I hope it helps. Enjoy your journey.

Lol DT, loved the reaction! Their creative process is driven by teamwork. They brainstorm ideas, concepts and discuss what they want to convey through their music with each other first and their creative team. The most interesting thing is that BTS tell us their stories, thoughts and fears through their music. They help us grow and understand ourselves. You see why they're so revolutionary? So yea, this theory is pretty tight. This song seems to delve into Suga's past goals and then focus on the present issues in order to create a better him in the future. It also seems to be an answer to the questions raised in the Intro to their previous album, MOTS: Persona.

Take it easy man, I have been a BTS fan since 2013 and the theory stuff goes hard since 2014 with I Need U.
Those things was first divided in eras: The mood of love, then wings and Love Yourself era. They were already connected but used to be less deeper.
For what I can see this era that begins with Persona is kind of a revision of their growth as an artists, and their self development as individuous through all those years.
So they are taken stuff since from the very beginning of their discografy, connecting things that even for me is hard to get, so don't worryed because u are not into it for so long, just TAKE IT EASY.

In their individual mixtapes you can see their individual journeys. And yes. The person who made that video is pretty right on as far as what we think the theory behind the song and mv is. They told us it was based on Carl Jungs psychology and we know their journey so we put one and one together. They don’t like feeding us the answers. They give us room to interpretation and apply to our own lives. It’s pretty amazing when you think about it. They are exactly what I was craving in music. I wanted meaning. Every single BTS music video and lyrics are what I can call genius. They have done this for YEAAARS, and yes, what they are saying is true, and I wouldn't be surprised if there's even MORE than what she said to it. The thing with kpop is that it's usually very superficial, bland and emotionless, that's why BTS stands out the most in the industry. I know there's some other kpop groups with meaningful songs and all, but I have never seen any group that goes as deep as BTS, with litterature, culture, art, Greek mythology, contemporary art, psychology, politics, Bible, AT THE SAME TIME...ect They also sometimes give references to things they will do IN THE FUTURE, that's why there's a lot of army theorist in our fandom who tries to predict what trilogy storylines they'll abroad next, and how it is connected to their older stuff. They also have something called the B.U (BangTan Universe), it's basically a storyline with time travel, child abuse, suicide, mental health, struggles and friendship, the story is so interesting, and they have music videos with only this storyline in it like I need U, or RUN, they also have a 13 min video called PROLOGUE dedicated to the B.U.
There's even a webtoon about it, and a BOOK. It will also be adapted into a movie in 2020. (I read the webtoon (called Save me Webtoon)
and honestly it's so good, the story is so interesting, a lot of emotions, full of suspense and I always wants to know what will happen next.

So that is how ARMY can keep up with what they want to express. Now it's pretty obvious because the albums are also called Map Of The Soul. Yoongi also is the only writer for this song and co-produced, so yes this is his expression of his views and ideas. The scenes and art in BTS's music videos is never a coincidence or just because it is cool, there is always a reason or deeper meaning behind it.

WARNING they have a deeper rabbit hole then any other and it has many unexpected twists and turns...💜

    Yes, it is very overwhelming.
I am waiting for you to react to their older songs and all the explanation videos.
You will be amazed how talented they are.
BTS does write and produce their own songs, with a very talented group of producers and song writers in Big Hit Labels. Their team are inseparable, since they grew big together over the years.
BTS and their team don't just throw anything out there for just the year, everything they put out are well thought out and planned since debut, you can see hints here and there from the past works stating future albums and songs. It is amazing to see how they link all their works together.
And there is more .... the Bangtan Universe, a fictional continuous storyline they started since debut.
Some MVs might have a message for the general public and at the same time is part of the storyline.
There are so much more ... OMG ... don't even know where to begin.

Tip of the iceberg my dude, tip of the iceberg. You can tie all their songs back to the beginning. Now, in the future you BEGIN to see clearly what could be. This is why it saddens me to hear people say they don't like BTS. I mean, they don't even know who BTS is, really. They hold back a lot from us, yes, even us ARMYs. They love us that much.💜

It's a lot to take in but yes every BTS song is deep DEEP. BTS have trained ARMYs to think deeper. We are always analyzing lyrics, videos, & performances. I learn something new every day 😂

Bookish Theories is on point and this particular Jung's MOTS journey started in the Persona comeback last year. We're in a new era, but BTS has had several since their 2013 debut. The fandom has an inside joke/saying that entering the BTS universe on the journey to becoming ARMY is akin to falling through a rabbit hole and never coming back out. RM (our leader) has an IQ of 148. I would imagine that he is integral to the conception of various storylines through the years, but the other members are no slouches, believe that!!! With BTS, Big Hit has allowed them to participate in every step of the creation process so they are very much involved in their music from writing, composing and producing their music to the creation/collaboration of BT21 and all the other myriad projects that Big Hit and BTS having going on. Don't expect BTS to be like other Kpop groups. While they certainly are idols, coming from a small, almost bankrupt "dirty spoon" company allowed them the opportunity to develop as a group without the restriction of idol groups from the Big 3 agencies that had a grip on the idol industry. Now that they're at the height of their success, they continue to forge their own path. It's been beautiful to be able to come with them on this incredible journey and my life is infinitely better because of BTS BUT it's A LOT!!! Decide how deep you wanna go and stay true to yourself. Welcome to the rabbit hole, lol. 💜💜💜

BTS is on a very different level. That is why personaly when i hear somebody compare them to Western boy bands i really feel bad. BTS is not just another boy band they are way above. BTS is BTS you cannot compare them with this boybands. They respect each other and they respect the people around them. They dont act like spoiled rock stars. True artists.

Bro, I couldn't help but laugh through this whole thing 💜 You have no idea how deep BTS gets!! 😂 There is a whole BTS Universe, kinda like the Marvel Universe but based on literature, art, history, and philosophy.
I suggest since you're beginning, just enjoy the music, MVs, dance practices. They are talented, hardworking & humble people and we have fun enjoying what they create!

map of the soul is the concept of their last and the coming album. so the theory is about the mv and lyrics but the general idea is spot on, its about knowing one self

She interpreted really well based on the actual book and psycological theory that BTS used as inspiration to start the new series of albums: Map of The Soul (the same name of Carl Jung's theory and book) the first part was Map of The Soul: PERSONA, and now we about to meet with the second part of the storyline; Map of The Soul: 7
