YAYY I enjoy the BTS vids as much as regular uploads. Thank you for putting in so much work to spread the message! I love seeing the Asian community receive more publicity (esp for the creative arts!!) Bless you Wong Fu 🙏
As a filmmaker myself, I really enjoyed watching this BTS video! I think a lot of the times people often overlook or don't notice the amount of work that goes into pre-production.. All they see is the end product, but it definitely takes a LOT of teamwork and effort to bring a big-scale project to life. I worked as the DP for my final year thesis project (an hour-length movie), and it was soo stressful, but probably one of the most rewarding projects I've ever worked on. Anyway, just wanted to say congrats & incredible job to everyone who helped bring YAPPIE to life! I'm sure everyone can tell it's a really special project, and I hope it gets the recognition it deserves :) Lots of love and support from Toronto! =D - Mel
I really like hearing the thought process behind this series, it provides more insight. I've researched the Model Minority for my senior exit project and saw there wasn't a lot of dialogue nor actual research conducted, so seeing this series come to fruition makes me really appreciative of Wong Fu. Thanks guys for making this series!
THANK YOU so much for Yappie, for lifting up the Asian American community and for invoking thought in the people of that community. I loved the pilot, and I plan on streaming the whole thing as soon as I have time. It was so great to get a bts look and to hear how much it meant to Phil writing it.
If coworkers don't mind, can you guys do an update on your office and staff? =D i'd love to know a bit about the people who work at wongfu even if they aren't usually on screen!
Not really related to Yappie in particular but have you all thought about doing a casting call for your videos? It’s great seeing familiar faces throughout your channel but I think it would be cool to showcase other Asian American talent! Especially ones who aren’t already on youtube!
im glad we finally get to see bts since they nvr really share the real stuff that goes down except the fun stuff. also glad wf is talking about serious subjects like politics social and racial issues
Just wondering, you said you had to be creative because of the small budget. How much money would WongFu have required to be able to produce this series without any problems whatsoever? I know I'm being blunt with this question and I don't think you would answer this (there is a very very small chance you would). But just wondering if we as fans can help you beyond the WongFu Forward thing. I'm sure we could figure something out. Thank you
I agree, even though I'm a bronze careholder, if you need to shout out for something extra I'm sure some of us would seriously consider it as a once-off
Question: no hate, but when you bring on new people, does the video style change according to who's filming & editing? Just noticed it was kinda new way of vlogging for you guys
It depends on the project. The bigger the project the more hands we bring on and everyone brings their own unique creative style. We also wanted to dive deeper in this bts to give you guys a closer look into the inner workings of our projects :)
Hello, I am a new viewer who happens to really like the content of your show; I want to also clarify that I am viewing your show from an objective perspective as well as from the lenses of an African American. I must commend the creative team for having the guts to dive in to so many sensitive topics. As an individual who has questioned rather we (African Americans) would ever hear the voices of those who are from the Asian community, kuddos for allowing me to hear your collective voices. Now, I really do not have much at all to criticize, but there were a few topics that were touched on without there being an indept discussion: one being the LACK OF INTEREST IN THE AFRICAN AMERICAN MALE, BUT THE GREAT INTERST IN THE CAUCASIAN MAN? THE OTHER TOPIC IS REGARDING THE CONTENT OF CHARACTER AND WHY THAT DOESN'T THAT SEEM TO APPLY TO ALL?AND LAST, THE "BLASIAN" ISSUE. WE AS PEOPLE ARE NOT ONLY A MIXED PEOPLE BECAUSE OF SLAVERY, BUT A PEOPLE THAT COVER THE COLOR SPECTRUM WHEN IT COMES TO FAMILY....WE ARE A TRUE COMPOSITE OF AMERICA AND ARE MORE ACCEPTING OF OTHERS THAN ALL OTHER GROUPS, BUT YET, THE BI-RACIAL CAST MEMBERS HAS CLAIMED TO NOT BE ACCEPTED BY THE BLACK COMMUNITY. Now, I like her, but that is not completely accurate.
Tbh Benson playing with the white lantern in the background while Phil is talking at the end is the cherry on top for this video
Dalton Chu LMAOOOO didnt even notice that. benson is a total mood hahahah

admirable that you're making behind the scenes videos when production is already tight! best of luck making season 2 real!
Support entrepreneurs, visionaries and artists stepping outside their comfort zone, and bringing up issues that bring up humanity. Great video!
