    Can Christians Be Patriots
“Resistance to tyranny becomes the Christian and social duty of each individual… Continue steadfast and, with a proper sense of your dependence on God, nobly defend those rights which heaven gave, and no man ought to take from us.” --- John Hancock

@@KadandEve That was not the question. The question was "Can Christians Be Patriots." If you want scripture for Christian civic duty there are plenty of them.
“But test everything; hold fast what is good” (I Thessalonians 5:21).
“Faith without work is dead” (James 2:26).
“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves…” (Proverbs 31:8).
“But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ” (Philippians 3:20).
We have a responsibility to pursue what is good for our country and to pray for our country. Jeremiah 29:7 says, "But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you... and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare."
"And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's." --- Matthew 22: 20, 21; Words of Christ Jesus

@@rbm6184 all those scriptures are great however, none of them point to you being a patriot being a patriot means you are finding your identity elsewhere. At least that’s how my understanding of patriotism sits.
Anytime you are finding your identity in anything worldly outside of God you are missing the mark, yes, we are to pray for the welfare of the nations that we have been driven into as Jews, but that doesn’t mean that we should identify with the nations we have been sent into because we only have one home.
Yes, we should fight for rights but every individual deserves but not because our nation says so in the constitution but because God says so in the first place
The reason why I say any of this is because a lot of times Christians get caught up in the worldly definition of patriotism, and start touting the constitution as if it a scripture

@@KadandEve I am well aware of "be ye in the world but not of the world" but as a Christian I am not going to sit back and let immorality and evil take over. I have to live here even temporarily but there is no reason I have to tolerate the immorality and evil. We are to reprove sin and evil. You can ignore those scriptures if you so choose and be a fruitless Christian in the world using that as an excuse not leading others to Christ by example and suffer the fate of the fig tree.

@@rbm6184 and this is why conversations like this evolve into disrespect because nowhere in my comment did I say I was disregarding those scriptures I simply said that there is more to it than just being patriotic. I even gave how my definition of patriotic may be different than yours and invited you to explain where you are coming from but instead of just having a civil discourse, you decided to attack me. call me a fruitless Christian and put words in my mouth for that you will be judged by our Lord.
You are so caught up in your desire to identify with things you shouldn’t identify with you attacked me for something I didn’t even say

Can a man serve two masters when he serves one he ignores the other. They ask separate things of you. Opposite things. Jesus is clear how we are to think of the immigrant. Is that how you think of the immigrant? Do you all seek first the kingdom of heaven or an earthly one as you would have it be seen in your own weakness apart from Christ? Seek only the kingdom of heaven right? Not convenient huh? It gets in the way of our temptations. If one truly lives and abides in Christ then wouldn’t Christ rule all aspects of our life? Does He? Trump is the opposite of Christ. His narcissistic ego is clearly his chosen guide. Its attributes can accurately be described by the 7 deadly sins. The opposite of Christ. Yet that is what you want to lead you to get something temporary of this fleeting perishable world? How can you truly live and abide in Christ and want the opposite? You cant.

Obviously Trump's job isn't finished yet. God spared his life twice. So there is something behind him. Either he'll change his way, or no matter what, America will see judgement. And after that, when America falls, the world will follow.
We don't know how long it will be before Christ returns, but I would say, our true test of faith has not started yet. This is just the beginning of the end, we have a long way to go.

I agree with the pastor. There is no way you can call yourself a christian and vote for what God hates. We call those people tares or hypocrites. God's word clearly states that cities have walls to protect them from their enemies and from being invaded. We have locks on our doors and walls and fences to keep the bad guys out.

The bible says many silly things. In Matthew 19.28 jesus tells the twelve, including Judas, that they will sit on 12 thrones judging the 12 tribes of Israel. That is, the guy who betrays jesus gets to judge other people. Who wrote this stuff?
BTW in revelation 1.10-15 someone like the son of man has a voice like a loud trumpet and a voice like many waters.
