Hi Martin, great video. I have a gearbox that has a 5 speed conversion already fitted. In my case the casing holding the modified gears is longer than standard (+/- 34mm) and hence the standard linkage (which has the rubber) between gearbox and shift rod is too long. Is this longer casing normal and if so do I cut/drill the linkage to accommodate the difference? Appreciate your help.
Hi Jim, yes, you are right, I forgot to mention it in video, every 5 gear kit case is bigger and soo is needed to make shorter linkage. Aswell modify the gearshift mechanism-cut half of reverse aretation so you can shift 5th gear without pressing the gear stick
@@Matuskamotorsport Thanks for confirming that. One other question please - I'm a newby to Fiats and bought a basket case car which I have rebuilt. Please can you tell me whether the gearbox shift shaft and the gearshift rod coming out of the tunnel should be on the same level? When I installed the motor/gearbox I found that they were not which is not great for the shifting action. Do I need to put a spacer between the gearbox mounting bracket and the chassis mounting point?
@@jimspillings9724 originally there are not any spacers, but Iam not sure if I completely understand what you mean, please send me photos of it to matuska@126fan.sk and will look on it :)

Ahoj, ano, musis vypilit z aretacie (spiatockovej) prednu cast (od neutralnej polohy) do predu , tak aby sa dala radit 5ka bez stlacania paky... zaroven odporucam kupit ozdobnu kulisu radenia, lebo bez nej a aretacie trafit 3ku dost problem👌🙂 ak by si sa na prestavbu necitil napis mi a dohodneme termin/cenu poskladania🙂

I am the owner of a Fiat Cinquecento ED engine code 170A.046 (AISAN carburetor) and I want some explanations if you want of course. in my country (ROMANIA) there is no such engine and gearbox even for dismantling. But there are other Fiat 126p models, Fiat 126bis, can I use something from them ??? crankshaft or other components, gearbox can partially out of take ??? If I didn't write correctly it's GOOGLE TRANSLATE's fault;)))
Hi, did I understood you right that you want to ise 126 gearbox or its parts for your Cinquecento? Iam sorry but this gearobx is completely different and you can not use nothing from it for your cinque 😪

Not at all 🙂 yes, you need to cut a half of reverse aretation metal, so you can shift 5th gear without pushing the gear stick down👍
