The #1 reason why I believe in Purgatory is because nothing unclean can enter Heaven... so if you die and aren't completely like Jesus, thank GOD for Purgatory, because without that, we would go to hell because none of us are ever going to be like Jesus. Protestants think they can do evil crap and then repent and die and go straight to Heaven; but you died in a certain venial sinful state, you can go to Heaven, but you have stains on your white garments... you gotta get cleaned up, purge those filth left on your soul.

The #1 reason why I believe in Purgatory is because nothing unclean can enter Heaven..
That's true nothing unclean will be in heaven , so what makes you clean?
. so if you die and aren't completely like Jesus, thank GOD for Purgatory, because without that, we would go to hell because none of us are ever going to be like Jesus.
This is where you go off track. You will never be completely like Jesus but He has already cleaned you up thoroughly the moment you repented and asked forgiveness of your sins. You have eternal life and your salvation is assured the moment that you repent and follow Jesus The Holy Spirit places His seal on the believer and never takes it away for any sin , Jesus dwells in your heart and you become more like Jesus as you yield to Him. All your sins are forgiven and it is Jesus and only Jesus who atones for all of your sins .
      Protestants think they can do evil crap and then repent and die and go straight to Heaven;
Where on earth do you get this giant LIE from? That is so ignorant to claim.
Protestants are believers in the Lord Jesus Christ and they read God's written word the bible . The bible is set out as an example of what a believer is to do. Absolutely nowhere does it ever say you repent and live in the world . Please do not claim false concepts because someone told you something!
but you died in a certain venial sinful state, you can go to Heaven, but you have stains on your white garments.
A false statement made by individuals that do not accept the complete sacrifice of Jesus on the cross for all of your sins which includes nailing the punishment of those sins to the cross as well Coll 2:9-15
.. you gotta get cleaned up,
You need to accept what Christ has DONE for you on the cross 1 Cor 6:11 all past tense - DONE
There is nothing you can add to the work of Jesus .
purge those filth left on your soul.
We are to lead holy lives and avoid sin but we will always have sin in our lives till we die . Romans 6:1,2
For the believer you need to see what sin is Romans 7: the whole chapter and it is pointed out twice to get your attention.
Acts 2:38 do what? this is repeated in Acts 3:19 do what for what? Was Peter lying to you?
Titus 3:5 surely there must be something I can do to be justified but Titus says NO.
Eph 2:5-8 tells you that salvation is a gift. Eph 2:9 says works has nothing to do with salivation, Eph 2:10 tells us that we were created to do the work of God . The sequence of events starts in Eph 2:1 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.
This is for believers , you were dead But God made you alive verse 5
The wages of sin Venial or Mortal are the same Romans 6:23
1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
No guesswork involved ,you who believe can know you have eternal life. There is no stain of sin when Jesus has taken every stain and washed them out. 1 Peter 2:24
Purgatory makes the claim that there are stains on the soul that need cleaning but that concept is never found in contextual scripture.

Sharing the theory of purgatory to a believer in Christ is like sharing sugar cubes with a diabetic ! Sounds good but it is 100% against the finished work of Christ on the cross cleansing you of all sins by taking all your sins on Himself . Jesus is the one who atones for sin ,not us. When you pass on your flesh and all the sins of the flesh do not go with you. No flesh inherits the kingdom of God. Nothing unclean will be in heaven and it is Jesus who has made you clean.
We who believe in Christ and His finished work are not spiting the common Catholic believers as that is against what the scriptures teach. We do however disagree with the roman Catholic hierarchy that makes claims of authority .
As there is only one church there is no hatred pointed at the body of Christ, that is the church.

I'm sure you know that "She'ol" is the Hebrew word for "hell". When you write "brings back up" - is that to haEretz (the Earth)? Or to Shamayim (heavens)? Let's go see ... 1 Samual 2:6 ("One Shmuel", _not_ "First Samuel"!) states:
      יְהוָ֖ה מֵמִ֣ית וּמְחַיֶּ֑ה מֹורִ֥יד מֹורִ֥יד וַיָּֽעַל׃
Literally meaning: "Yah·weh to die to live to come orgo down/descend underworld to go up/ascend/climb"
So, mo·v·rid being one key word - meaning "to come or go down/descend" - she·'ol (place where people descend at death) - vai·ya·'al (to go up/ascend/climb). So it does not specify where we go up to, but that we do go down to she’ol. Interesting.

What Christ did on the cross was to expiate the sin for all humanity that the fall caused so that the gates of heaven could once again be opened. This does not give you license to go out and freely sin with impunity. You are 💯 percent responsible for every sin you choose to commit which is a rejection of God. And you will pay back every cent.

      @irishgab04 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@revelation12_1 who said anything about license to sin? When a person receives Christ as Lord and Savior, he/ she is born again of the Spirit and that's the seal of salvation of a believer. In many passages, believers are exhorted to live holy lives which is the evidence of their salvation, the transformation of their lives. But I would direct you to the thief on the cross how the Lord answered him "Truly I say to you, TODAY you will be with me on paradise." , did the Lord require of him cleansing by fire? No, He did not. For it was by His grace. You have to understand GRACE, that it is the undeserved favor of God. That is why we rejoice in the Gospel, the Good News of Salvation because even though we don't deserve it we have been imputed with the righteousness of Christ because we put our trust in Him.
Yes, there will be a Judgment Day at the end of the Millennial Kingdom or Thousand Year reign of Christ. But take note that for believers the judgment would be commendation not condemnation, our works will determine the rewards we will get or lose.

You do not find any apparitions considered as truthful in scripture just as you also do not find any concept that Jesus would add to His church something that man has invented , like purgatory where it denies the complete sacrifice on the cross for all the sins of the world .
Jesus did not die to ATONE for our sins, he died to give us the OPPORTUNITY to enter heaven.
      So Peter lied ? 1 Peter 2:24
      New Catholic Bible
24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live in righteousness.
By his wounds you have been healed.
Jesus Christ died in our place when He was crucified on the cross. We deserved to be the ones placed on that cross to die because we are the ones who live sinful lives. But Christ took the punishment on Himself in our place-He substituted Himself for us and took what we rightly deserved. “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:21).
“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed” (1 Peter 2:24). Here again we see that Christ took the sins we committed onto Himself to pay the price for us. A few verses later we read, “For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit” (1 Peter 3:18). Not only do these verses teach us about the substitute that Christ was for us, but they also teach that He was the atonement, meaning He satisfied the payment due for the sinfulness of man.
I pray that you will receive the grace of conversion.
I pray that you will start reading your bible and making sure that what is taught is correct according to scripture Acts 17:11 is valid for today and the roman Catholic church frowns upon it's members reading the scriptures for themselves.

Doesn't Jesus Sacrifice (death) provide us forgiveness of sin (John 3:16), His resurrection and life save us from wrath & torture (Romans 5:8-10/1 Thessalonians 5:9) because He is our High Priest and Advocate forever. Doesn't the Holy Spirit seal us for eternal life (Ephesians 1:13-14). I don't understand how the concept of purgatory plays a role in our sanctification and salvation if it's not mentioned literally or figuratively at all in Scripture or the traditions of early church before the 6th or is it the 16th century.
It would be pointless If there were another way that gives us true salvation or sanctification and Jesus didn't see that. According to Scripture the belief in a purgatory is taking the grace of God in vain (Ephesians 5:23-27) and accepting a doctrine not supported by the word of God (Galatians 1:8-9).

What I don’t get is if this doctrine was what was revealed by the Apostles then why don’t all apostolic churches have this doctrine? Orthodox were in union for nearly 1,000 years with Rome. Yet they don’t have this teaching. Things that are not common between both apostolic churches are likely to be accretions by definition.

The number one reason I DO NOT believe in Purgatory is because Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the cross has cleared my sins under the first Covenant, my sins have been purchased by the blood of the Lamb (Hebrews 2:9/ 9:15). And any sins committed under the second Covenant are still covered by Jesus Christ forever as our High Priest, Mediator, Advocate (1 John 2:1-2/ 1:9/ Hebrews 5:6/ 7:27).
(Hebrews 8:6) mentions one of the better promises under the new covenant which is found in (Hebrews 10:17-18). It wouldn't make a dime of a sense if Christ sacrifice only covered our sins for a certain time period but not the future, because even as Christians we still sin. There is a reason Scripture mentions whole chapters on the fact that He is our High Priest forever (Hebrews 7:17) we can continually be offered forgiveness and cleansing from unrighteous acts (1 John 1:9). Hebrews 12 does not mention Purgatory at all, you really have to be "reading between the gaps of the words" to come up with that ideology.

The Bible is the inspired word of God
1 Timothy 2:5 “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;”
Luke 1:46-47 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, 47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior
Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
1 Corinthians 10:4 “And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.”
1 Samuel 2:2 “There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.
Mark 7:7. “Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.”
2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
1 Timothy 4:3 “Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.”
2 Timothy 3:15 “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”
Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
    1Ti 3:2 - A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
    Tit 1:7 - For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God;
Hosea 6:6 “For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.”
Rev 3:16 - So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Better to be a born again Christian and find a good home Bible study group.

Purgatory: cleansing or punishment? Because the catholic church defines purgatory as a place of temporary suffering and misery, it is quickly greeted with rejection and scorn. Our Lord Jesus paid for the sins and penalties of sin by mankind and so expects full confession on our part, of our sins. As long as we are holding on to our sins, it remains ours and not to Christ. No wonder why He made confession of sins so important. But some will die with kept sins in them and God’s mercy works overtime and purges such souls to complete their journey to heaven.

    • @ihsrosary
      @ihsrosary 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

The reason for purgatory is to allow sinners the opportunity to complete the REPARATION we've made for our sins. Yes, Confession provides the forgiveness, but it does not erase the punishment connected to the sin. There are consequences. If you don't suffer enough on earth to pay this debt... then you finish it in purgatory. Even Jesus gave St. Faustina the option to remain a little longer on earth to suffer, or spend 1 day in purgatory.

@@ihsrosary i agree and am not arguing. The negative view of purgatory stems from what seems as its punitive purpose. It is clear that, as you said, reparations are primarily done in purgatory hence, reparation is cleansing slash unburdening for the soul.

It's a cleansing not a punishment. The Church stays silent on if it happens in an instant or is a place and duration though many go with place and duration. 3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?..6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be [a]done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. 7 For he who has died has been freed from sin. 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

None of the verses provide in this video speak of the existence of purgatory. The doctrine of purgatory is found nowhere in the Bible, Jesus never taught about and neither did any of the apostles. The passage of Revelation 21:27 that is provided in the video is in the context of the saints entering into the New Jerusalem BECAUSE their names are written in the Book of Life, not because of purgatory.
The second passage provides, 1 Cor. 12:12-27 is speaking in regards to the spiritual gifts within the body of Christ, it has absolutely nothing to do with purgatory. That entire chapter is speaking solely on the spiritual gift within the church and uses the human body as a metaphor to discuss the interrelation of the various gifts within the church. Trying to use any part of that chapter to appeal to purgatory or its nature (effective prayer for those in purgatory) is terrible exegesis.

And Catholic doctrines do not come from the New Testament because the church was in operation with its doctrines in some form before any of the NT was written. You fail to recognize that the NT came out of the church and not the other way around. And writers do not try to convince people of things they already accept with no issue.

@@peterxuereb9884 1 Cor 3:15 passage is about THE Judgment Day where our works, not us, will be tested by fire if those were made out of everlasting foundation or "materials". The spirits in prison you're pertaining to are the fallen angels. Matthew 12:32 speaks of the unpardonable sin that blaspheming the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, even in eternity. Colossians 3:25 is still about Judgment Day.
In comparison with the passages regarding the Triunity of God, those passages are not explicit to the existence of purgatory.
Moreover, in Hebrews 9:27 it says "And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment..." and in Luke 23:42-43 at the cross, Jesus answered the thief, ‘I tell you the truth, TODAY you will be with me in paradise’ , and the story of Lazarus and the rich man in Luke 16:19-31. These passages show that after death judgment is given, either we go to paradise/heaven or hell, no in-between place mentioned. Also, the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ is the propitiation (or satisfaction) for our sins so it is all-sufficient which is why Romans 8:1 says "There is therefore NOW no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit." and also His atoning works are finished which is why salvation is by grace through faith, not of us or our works, it is the gift of God. Scripture is very explicitly clear on this subject; Paul says, 'To be absent from the body is to be present with Christ,' praying for people in purgatory makes no sense. This fact is dramatically highlighted in Matthew 27:51, when just after Christ's death, the veil in the Temple which separated the Holy of Holies is torn from top to bottom. The implication is clear-Jesus has given us full access to God. We are redeemed 'fully' through the atoning merit of Christ, not half way. Purgatory, is a man centered teaching taking away the efficacy of redemption, doing away the necessity of the cross for full redemption.
When we come to know Christ, the veil has been lifted. The church is considered to be Jesus’ bride. Traditionally, when a bride walks down an aisle in a church, she is wearing a veil; a veil which prevents her from seeing the groom clearly and becoming close to him. When Jesus’ bride (Us) has her veil lifted in heaven, she shall see things and under stand things so much more than she does now, and she now has nothing between her and her groom (Jesus) that prevents the closest possible relationship that the two could have. This basically means that when we get to heaven, we shall see things and understand things so much more than we do now, and we will no longer have a barrier of residual sin between Jesus and us.

For Christians purgatory is purification before death, or before rising from the dead. Purification and sanctification prior to joining our heavenly family. How is this different in catholic faith?

Most Protestant denominations do not believe in Purgatory, except Anglicans of Anglo-Catholic origin and Lutherans of High Lutheranism. Catholicism, which is Christianity, affirms the truth that Purgatory is what happens to souls, who are already forgiven of their sins and going to Heaven but still need to be purified of the effects of sin. No sinner who has not atoned for their sins is in purgatory. Purgatory is for saints who still need to be purified of the effects of sin before entering Heaven. It's not a matter of Christian vs Catholic.. it's a matter of what the Scripture says.... Jesus Sacrifice (death) provide us forgiveness of sin (John 3:16), His resurrection and life save us from wrath & torture (Romans 5:8-10/1 Thessalonians 5:9) because He is our High Priest and Advocate forever. The Holy Spirit seal us for eternal life (Ephesians 1:13-14). I don't understand how the concept of purgatory plays a role in our salvation if it's not mentioned literally or figuratively at all in Scripture or the traditions of early church before the 6th or is it the 16th century.
It would be pointless If there were another way that gives us true salvation and Jesus didn't know. According to Scripture the belief in a purgatory is taking the grace of God in vain (Ephesians 5:23-27) and accepting a doctrine not supported by the word of God (Galatians 1:8-9).

Two examples, If a child breaks hiw neighbour's window while playing, he is guilty of it, he would need to go ask forgiveness from his neigbour, who will most likely say "sure kid, you were playing, I forgive you", but that doesn´t fix that window, in order to set things right the kid maybe with help from his father, needs to help the neighbour to replace the window for a new one and commit to be more careful next time so he doesn´t break a window.
Another one, think your life is a wall on a house and for every sin you commit, you put a nail on it. When Jesus forgives your sins, He takes away each nail, but once you die and meet Him in person, would you want to give Him a wall full of holes (each hole as the consequence of your sins and the attachment to sinful conduct). Maybe you would, but if God is infinitely just, then you would like to patch the holes and paint the wall before you give it to the Lord.
That is what purgatory is for, you don´t need to complete Jesus suffering, but every time we lie, steal, cheat, have sex out of wedlock, use the Lord's name in vain, kill someone or any other sin, there are consequences for others and for ourselves and we just don´t know how far they can go. So Jesus takes the guilt from us, but those consequences for our actions are still there and we must make a penitence for it and be cleansed of that capacity to sin again if we are to enter Heaven.

      Hebrews 8:12
"For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more".
However, if we sin, apostle john said :
      1 John 1:9
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
When we sin against each the apostle Paul said:
      Colossians 3:13
"Bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive"
Jesus also said in this matter:
if “your brother or sister has something against you … First go and be reconciled to them” (Matthew 5:23-24).
There are no additional punishments you need to endure in the after life. That is a man made teaching resulting from lack of faith and undermining the magnitude of the price Jesus paid on the cross for our sins.

It isn't in the bible in neon lights. It is hinted at.
Start with Revelation 21:27 Nothing impure gets into Heaven. So if you are truthful you will admit that you are a sinner. So you are excluded from Heaven unless there is a method to purify you before you try to enter.
Then go to 2 Maccabees 12...oops, you guys threw that away because it implied that there was a place where prayer was effective after one's death.
Then Matthew 12:32 "And whoever says a word against the Son of man will be forgiven; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come ". Hmmm. Sins are forgiven in the age to come? That can't happen in either Heaven or Hell so it implies a third state.
Then Matthew 5:24-25, Jesus says: " Make friends quickly with your accuser, while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison; truly I say to you, you will never get out till you have paid the last penny ".
I Corinthians 3:11-15 may well be the most straightforward text in all of Sacred Scripture when it comes to Purgatory:
For no other foundation can any one lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any one builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble-each man’s work will become manifest; for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. If the work which any man has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If any man’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.
The word "purgatory" is not mentioned once. However, a third place is and a place of purification is, and that prayers can benefit the dead is. All of that fits like puzzle pieces into the Catholic understanding of purgatory.

What a dreadful excuse for apologetics!
Purgatory exists because a catholic says so (St Thomas Aquinas)
There are 3 different stages (militant, suffering and triumphant) because the catholic religion says so.
A good idea would be to quote SPECIFIC scriptures that point unquestionably at "purgatory"
You won't because that state does not exist.
Your relationship with God is set upon your death.
Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
Matthew 25:13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
There is ZERO mention of a "cleansing after death", or anything similar, in scripture anywhere!

Yes there is no chastisement in Heaven. We actually believe that sin including original sin is removed in baptism and a person is born again, adopted by God, and sealed with the Seal of Life by the Holy Spirit. What is left for us is the inclination to sin so if we sin we get absolution from God in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. If we don't remove the inclination to sin here God will remove it from us. That removal and transformation IS Purgatory.

    • @oleg4light
      @oleg4light 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@kisstune Thank you for your response.
What I was referring to is the process of sanctification. Through the Holy Spirit we learn to hate sin and be more Christ-like or spiritually mature. If we understand our trespassing and try to overcome the sin, God does not have a need to chastise or judge us, but if not - He does, like the father, who teaches his child to behave. Therefore the chastisement is a help from our Father to go and to sin no more.
That's said every child of God is having a struggle within his self with his sinful nature. In this struggle, the child of God will be always willing to obey God, maybe not always successfully, but the inclination will be to do that. I must add, that this inclination is not based on feelings, because they also can be a temptation. This struggle will end, when sinful nature will be dealt with.
If you struggle, it is already a good sign. Roman 7 talks about that at the end of the chapter.
Now in spiritually maturing, or becoming a Christ-like, there are 3 phases.
A child, a young man and a father according to 1. John 2,12-14.
Children have their sin forgiven and have Father in Heaven, the young men have overcome sin and can recognise devils temptations and so on.
What I am saying, if you are of Christ, you will not be able to live in sin, but have struggles.
If you have struggles with sin, it means you are on the way to God, keep up this good fight, you are not first and not last and you can overcome.
Therefore, the only problem is our sinful nature, but spiritually we are born again.
With the sinful nature will be dealt with, when we stay in a good fight until the end - because you are on the way to God, and our bodies at the end will be also born again, removing the cause to have struggles - the transformation. There is no need for purgatory after death.
I am sorry, english is not my native language.
It is not my intention to have right, but maybe help on the way.
