Bag of Suck defined a period of my life. I have memories watching it with friends who have passed, friends I lost touch with, people who have largely moved on to have families and careers. It holds such a special place in my heart. Thank you for this🙏
Glad they put shine on Jason Adams' part. I will never forget the feeling of that opening line: hauling ass through the parking lot, reverts and no complies every which way, music building up, that satisfying frontside boardslide. Bag of Suck is a perfect video.
"The dream is to be in a pocket of time and make something like that with people that you care about and are your friends. That is it." Jerry said it best
The way Jerry lands the nollie bs heel was so epic, like how the board gets way ahead of his upper body. The "banana bend", as I call it, that he does is burned into my brain for being one of the coolest looking lands that I've ever seen. The Banana Steez was real. P.S. - Bag of Suck is still my favorite video of all-time. Every single part in the video is awesome.
Thank you Brendan Bill and Thrasher for putting this together! All the comments on here about how BOS affected them is incredible. I dont know how the stars aligned for me on this one, but im so thankful and honored to have been a part of this insanity. Means the world to me. jerry louie evs cas jose jason clark chris marc. Love you guys forever.
Dude you helped make one of the most timeless videos of all time. This video prolly contributed to me failing some classes in high school because I was watching this on the iPod video instead of paying attention. My favorite trick in the video is Jerry’s nosegrind pop out on the bank to blue ledge which is actually in this video. He got all 4 wheels back in after the pop out which of course you had to get all 4 in or it wouldn’t of been as legit. I always loved that trick. It inspired me to film a similar trick for my part in our local shops video. Did you film that clip of Jerry?
@@mesohunt704 so rad to hear! I didnt film that trick. It was either Matt Eversole or Chris Avery. And yes that trick is insane. the control he has...wild. Long live Jerry!
Who ever came up with this at Thrasher give them a raise. If not, make more of these types of vids. So much goes into making a skate video this can be a series.
And let me tell you one thing about Jerry's part. I have now for many years liked how the term "magnum opus" rolls off my tongue when referring to it. Before Bag of Suck came out, everyone knew how great a skater Jerry was, but no one could expect from him the heavenly attainment he blessed upon skateboarding in 2006. He went where only a handful of marathon video visionaries used to go before, and I speak of those one could clearly anticipate such, often annual, feats from. We know this stuff didn't come as easy to Jerry. We can only imagine what a fight he put up to get what he did. Considering how producing a video part can be a devastating long-term project tough on a skater's psyche, often filled with dread, tears and sleepless nights, I dare to say Jerry Hsu's Bag of Suck video part is the greatest achievement in the history of skateboarding.
Started skating in 06. The first video I saw was Bag of Suck, and changed my life and the way I viewed the world. As I'm literally scoping out my local for a session, I want to thank Thrasher, and the Bag of Suck crew for the everlasting memories❣
Will tell my gf to butt focus her penny board someday. (Sidenote: a book should be released containing all the classic enjoi ads, to me they are the only brand that carried on 90s bb-esque creative freedom, the most authentic ads damn right)
Thrasher, this is awesome! As an older head (31). Thank you for this please do more! When this came out,Jerry's part seriously rocked the skate world. Thanks thrasher for a gift from the skate gods!
I cannot express how important this video was to me as a kid. I mean, I literally watched this video every single day for at least a year, before school after school, after skating! Each video part, the songs and the humour and fun loving style of Enjoi is etched in my memory. This video truely is a part of who I am now as an adult. I wish I was able to explain the feeling I had watching this as a kid. Pure inspiration.
Adams' wallride boardslides on hubbas are so rad, especially frontside. I learned them backside on a big flat wall because of his Label Kills part and I think that was the happiest I've ever been learning a trick. He's one of the greatest skaters of all time; he might not be the greatest athlete, but his style and originality is just so good. Seeing Caswell's face brings back happy early 00's vibes like crazy. He was so gnarly. Watching Enjoi vids with friends was always a really good time. I just noticed the building has the number 13 painted on it behind Hsu flying at the 13 stair for the nollie back heel.
Being a skater from San Jo and knowing these dudes where from there made you feel so proud !! Tilt mode is still one of my favorite videos! The best was running into these dudes at CinnaBar or The Caravan super faded! Those times I will always cherish. Skating with my homies all day, all night, partying and meeting chicks! I love San Jose and the skate scene during those times. The best shit ever!! Thank you all of Enjoi for providing such entertainment and motivation to have fun and just skate. 🤘🏾
This was the first video i ever got and owned on DVD. Still hypes me tf up, makes me want to start filming for a part and make it pretty fucking hammer crazy.
I was a senior in high school when this video came out. I remember these days like it was yesterday and seeing this for the first time at a skate shop in SD.
My fav skate video of all time. Watching this documentary I realized a trick in Jerry’s part is right by my house. A few times a week I pass it leaving the skatepark and think “damn someone really good could get a trick here” lol
this whole video means so much to me, i remember so vividly the time of my life when this video came out, how much this influenced me to go out and skate harder and harder than i did the day before. there's not one part in this video i don't love, not one song i would skip. the team, the video, everything is so timeless. bag of suck will mean so much to me for the rest of my life. thank you.
I was about 15 when this video came out and watched it hundreds of times. I totally didn’t expect my favorite clip from the entire video to be in here because it’s one that goes by fast in Jerry’s part but ill be dammed it’s in here. 14:07 the nosegrind pop out on the bank to ledge. First of all that spot looks hard as hell to skate and the fact he gets all 4 wheels back in after the pop out make it so much better. In the last video part I ever filmed for our local skate shop I did a nosegrind pop out on a banked ledge inspired by this clip. It was basically a flat ledge that the face of it was a steep bank. So I popped from flat into the nosegrind and popped out into the banked face of the ledge. Honestly it was so steep and short I wasn’t entirely sure it was possible to get all 4 in but I somehow managed. I was super hyped and it was totally inspired by this clip. Thanks for being one of the fucking best jerry.
Legit one of the best videos ever. So much fun, always gets me hyped to skate. Jerry's part is unreal, showed what determination is all about. Thanks for putting this out. Skating needs enjoi..... now more than ever.
I can't tell you how nostalgic bag of suck was for me and the friends I grew up with man... Growing up in the San Jose Bay Area as a skater during the 2010's seshing Sunnyvale, Downtown SJ, SF, SC, Campbell, Stanford, Menlo Park... it just makes bag of suck one of if not the most iconic skate videos for me, and that much more impactful for me man. These were my childhood heros.
Bought it as soon as it hit the shelf. Out of all my skate videos I've owned over the years, this is one that I somehow have still held onto in every move.
One of my all time fav video parts growing up. The skating was so creative and the editing was unique. And it looked like everyone was having so much fun. I just loved it. Still do.
Jerry will always be the GOAT. Always. You could see his silhouette and know who is skating. Hands down the the steaziest, most brutal, most characteristic legendary skater ever. His 411 parts and BOS 20-15 years ago made him my fave and idol and nothing has changed. I loosened up and noodled my way into concussions as a teenager thanks to him. Memories. Thank you for making the world a fucking rad place, my dude.
A truly special video that heavily influenced my initial interest in skateboarding. So much personality matched by incredible skating. Forever an all time favorite!
I bought this video when I was in high school and got so stoked on it. Such a rad mash up of personalities. Just re watched it today for the first time since and it packs the same punch.
bag of suck has been my fav skate movie since i was a kid. It was so creative, amazing skaters, great music, and awesome ending. Not enough people talked about it imo. Thank you for this behind the scenes I'm so happy to see more content from bag of suck.
the music was as incredible as the skating. this is still in my top 3 skate videos of all time. i remember watching this to get myself hyped to go out and skate. i can watch it to this day and still be hyped. every part is soooo good. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
I was living in San Jose at this time and making my own video. I had some Caswell footage and was hoping to do a full part. Matt Evs woke me up from a nap on the phone to tell me he was gonna "put a stop to it." Classic. I ended up using like 4 tricks of Caswell in a montage. What a rad time to be in San Jose. Lived there from 1999-2010
This was one of my favorite skate things as a kid I never even knew the name of lol. I went to the Enjoy tour stop in Portland & got this poster signed by everybody. Gotta go find it somewhere. I remember all the short catch phrases like “the video you’ll never see” was so intriguing to me 😂😂
That Wallride onto that street sign in front of Madison Metro was sick. That's where I'm from so I recognized it right away! Showed it to my dad because he worked there lol good job!
I can't tell you how many times over my LIFETIME (I don't even skate anymore!) did I watch Louie Barletta's part. He's been my idol since I first started skating. It all started with 1 Strange Notes DVD....
holy shit, im from san jose. I haven't watched the video yet but holy shit im excited to press the play button. These dudes are literally all my hometown heroes along with tiltmode
This is my all time favorite Skate Vid, Baker 3 was my first fav and is an extremely close second but something about Bag of Suck was just exactly what I wanted. It led me to my first Enjoi board which I still ride Enjoi decks to this day
Still have this on DVD its sitting right in front of me now. Still love Louie's part the most. Its so unique. You guys should do more of these for classic videos. Maybe Jump off a building? Dying to live? Yeah Right?
