    Lewis is a great guy, he not only has the knowledge and the experience but he also has humor and self reflection. He seriously listens to questions and is as ambitious as a coach as in the days when he was as an athlete himself. He is the coach need you need if you want to be successful.

    If I was taught this as kid I would've won 10 gold medals, just kidding. I tried this during my jog, bringing my feet straight down, standing tall, arms (more/less) 90 degrees. Felt like I never moved as fast in my life and I'm 42, then I tweaked a muscle... Yeah but sprinting drills will definitely be part of my exercise routines from now on.

    If the world record for 60m is 6.34sec and the W.R. for 100m is 9.59sec, this would suggest the sprinter (Usain Bolt) is continuing to accelerate as the race continues past the 60m mark to the 100m, the last 40 m took around 3.25 sec in theory. Or are they just continuing at the same speed they built up between 15m to 60m? Can anyone answer this?

    • @rodneyallen3682
      @rodneyallen3682 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Usain Bolt reached top speed in about 60 meters, then slowed down a bit towards the end of his 9.58 world record. Check out his 10 meter splits here: speedendurance.com/2009/08/19/usain-bolt-10-meter-splits-fastest-top-speed-2008-vs-2009/

    Concentrate on pushing instead of being the fastest out of thew blocks? Ben Johnsons says: "Nope, I react quicker, jump out of the block with both arms up, start running earlier with the first step and push harder at the same time!"

    The word "push the ground" also implies to athletes to plant the foot and then pushing. This can promote inactive glutes and wrong Bio-mechanical habit and wrong muscle development. I would use the word "hit" the ground.

    First of all Carl Lewis did not win 2 gold medals in the 100m dash.He was obliterated by Ben Johnson in Seoul. Ben was robbed of gold by the IOC. Secondly Carl Lewis shouldn't been allow to run in the 88 Olympics because he was caught taking Ephrdine by TAC but was still allowed to run.Also in the 100m final in 88, Carl ran out of his lane twice and should have been disqualified.

      Don't create your own facts to suit your argument, tell the whole story. USOC documents revealed that at the 1988 US Olympics Trials, Carl Lewis tested positive for 3 banned stimulants, Ephedrine, Pseudoephedrine and Phenylpropanolamine, which were all available over the counter as dietary supplements or treatments for cold and allergy. The concentrations of these stimulants detected in the tests were 2ppm, 4ppm and 6ppm. According to IOC rules at the time, levels lower than 10ppm were cause of further investigation but not immediate ban. Lewis' claim of inadvertent use was proved and accepted by the USOC after they analyzed his supplements and cleared him to compete. Concentrations of 2ppm, 4ppm and 6ppm were found consistent with someone taking cold or allergy medicines and were unlikely to have any effect on his performance.
      Even though Lewis recorded a positive test with concentrations of between 2ppm and 6ppm in 1988, under the current WADA Rules they would now be regarded as a negative test. The World Anti Doping Code has raised the acceptable levels to 10ppm for ephedrine and 25ppm for Pseudoephedrine and Phenylpropanolamine.

    • @Track.Monkey
      @Track.Monkey 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Are you seriously arguing that Ben Johnson was robbed by the IOC when he tested positive for Stanozolol at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, his Doctor Jamie Astaphan admitted that he injected him with Stanozolol and his Coach Charlie Francis admitted that he had been taking Stanozolol since 1981?
      Carl Lewis running outside his lane in the 100m does not mean he should have been disqualified since he didn't impede the progress of any other athlete.

    The muscles below the waste are not designed to pull, how do you lift the knee then? Definitely there are pulling muscles below the waste. How do you lift your heel while prone? WTF Carl?

    • @martinmcgee1
      @martinmcgee1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      You don't lift the knee. The hip extensors are an elastic band, you stretch them and they slingshot back. Never life the knees, with proper forces applied to the ground the knee comes through naturally. Pick them up and you'll lose hip height, gluts will deactivate and you'll lose power.
