Just did my first cross country season after a track season the year prior and your tips for middle school XC were amazing especially for easy runs picked up the pace and dropped 3 minutes off my PR this season
The progression is CRAZY!! Keep it up man I love your videos they've really inspired me to read my bible more and its what got me into this great sport that I love.
Nice Evan. My Sophomore year this past season, I dropped from 22:03 to 19:31. After the season ended, during my easy runs I’ve been staying under sub 8 min pace. Some days I go between 7:00 and 7:30 pace.
Hey Evan ive been watching your videos for a little and there pretty cool, last year I was running 9 min miles and now Im at 5:40 miles. Thanks for your tips
I’m in middle school and if we ever do soccer field laps or something (where we practice there is a soccer field) the coaches always tell us to DON’T GO TO SLOW! Just go like 1 minute slower than your race pace.
My coach told me my easy pace should be 9-9:50 but in reality I should’ve been going about 8 minute pace. I think some coaches just don’t know what they’re talking about 🤦♀️. My coach also got me injured and I’m still out 13 weeks later. 😭
@lexilime honestly just go off feel don't worry about pace whatever feels easy is fine. For you, that's probably around 8-8:50s. But you can go slower or faster if you want. I've ran a 16:58 and sometimes my easy runs are ≈8 minute pace other days I might go faster others I go slower just listen to your body that's really important.
@lexilime np! Oh yeah, make sure you communicate with your coach if you haven't already. Let them know how you're feeling on important days like speedworkouts for example, because if you're feeling terrible or super fatigued the day of a speedworkout, your risk of injury is definitely a lot higher, even if u don't get Injured the quality of that workout wouldnt be very good anyways. So make sure to (like i said) listen to your body and let your coach know how you're feeling. If he ignores your imput, then yea, I think it's time for a new coach 😅
I LOWV YOUR VIDEOS EVAN I HOPE TO BECOME elite but i have doubts because i live with stubborn smokers who wont stop so i have to be really cautious they call me “too obsessive”
I have a question, the day before December, I got injured and it had been preventing me from running offseason for around 5 weeks now, (I got 3 weeks left) but I have been biking. I know you got injured before your 8th grade XC season so I was wondering how did you cope and stay fit?? I’m in 7th grade and I have a 6:06 mile that I got sometime in late November, my goal was to get a sub 5:55 mile before track season, which is in late February. Any tips? (It was not a stress injury, I broke my finger and doctors said it’s risky to run because I could fall and re break it, and no I do not have a treadmill but I have a peleton
So since it's your finger I would recommend logging lots of hours on that peloton. If I were you I would try to imitate a normal running plan the best you can on the bike. For example, do like 2 hard interval workouts on the peloton per week, and then do easy/base on the other days.
@ Alr ty, I have already been doing that but I’m worried if I’ll lose lots of time on my mile, logging lots of miles on the peloton (around 35-40 per week) and doing exactly what u described.
How come you got worse throughout the season. Don’t get me wrong you are still way better than me, I ran a 12:45 2 Mile PR, but It wasn’t the first meet.

what the heck thats insane. what did you do to drop so much time?
@ The big thing was I got pulled up to varsity and we have a super good coach
I have been watching your videos and I love them. I dropped 4 minutes in the 5k this season. I ran a 18:40 as a seventh grader is that good.
Yes that is VERY good.
What shoes do you wear on race day?
I race in xc dragonflies
@@Evanrunz Alright thank you
Hi evan are you planning to go to Nike nationals or new balance nationals(if you plan on going).

6:35-7:00 flat is a bit much I think should be running at around 7:15-30
I run 30min 10k and I run my easy days at 7:10-7:40
I’m like a 5:30-5:40 mile pr person so what should my easy run pace be?
Around 8 minutes per mile, maybe a bit slower if you're sore
Hey how much times do you lift per week? And what type of stuff do you do? I’m a distance runner, who has neger lifted ever.
I lift twice a week and we do lots of things like plyometrics, resistance band excercises, squats, deadlifts, etc
