Not to sound mean-spirited, but I’m tired of the “we need to find a spot for everybody” mentality. The fact that there’s competition and not everybody gets a spot makes the people who do get a spot feel more special!
You are absolutely right. Some guys do deserve it like Gable because of how good he's been the past few years.. but guys like Andrade who's shown no character development his entire career don't deserve to be in the Rumble.
Why do Americans always want more? Scarcity makes a thing valuable. Making a Rumble spot harder to get is better than just adding 10 more spots to ‘fit people in’. It’d make the matches go on for an hour and a half, which would burn out the crowd by the end. And once you make that choice, it’ll never drop to 30 again, because that would be WWE admitting “we made a mistake” and they’ll never do that The roster won’t be this deep some years, so you’ll have to have a thin roster spread over 40 spots, making the whole match tedious. Just leave it at 30.
This kinda reminds of when I do a Royal Rumble match on 2K it's stacked from beginning to end with legends and champions and it ends up getting won by Spike Dudley
It really isn't difficult to solve. If your on the card (outside the rumble) you cannot be eligible for the rumble match. If you are part of a tag team or stable, only 1 member of that group can be part of the match, you'll have to choose, and that can lead to some interesting storylines pre and post rumble of who gets in, and the whole blame game of "I should have been in the rumble, I wouldn't have lost". That narrows the amount of entrants considerably. If someone is eliminated by someone outside the rumble, they can re-enter the ring, and the person who eliminated them are either fined or suspended.
I've always hated shit like someone getting eliminated and then going back and eliminating like 3 more dudes and it counting. It's never been fun to see.
Honestly it’s a good problem to have. Not everyone can get that spot and that’s just how the business works. I don’t want a more than 30 man rumble because realistically some of the fan favorites aren’t main eventers and just midcarders. The match is already an hour long and we have to fit a Women’s Rumble which would also need to increase if you are increasing the men’s, and then a few matches on top of everything. It’s going to be a really long PPV and just more people who won’t win.
The idea of CM Punk in the Rumble waiting for the next entrant and then suddenly you hear Jeff Hardy's No More Words. Ahh i just got Dwayne sized goosebumps.
Man, i was mapping out both men AND women Rumbles and still had left a few deserving wrestlers out. I dunno if we should have more spots or have the friendly competition there. It's almost hard not to have a good men and women Rumbles this year.
Honestly, even if it's just a once in a blue moon thing, I wanna see WWE bring back the 3 ring 60 man World War 3 battle royal. Even if it's just once, for the utter chaos, I'd love to see it.
Disagree with the entire premise. If you said PLE's need 15 matches to get everyone on every card I would push back for the same reason. Its the limited number at the special event that helps make it special. This isn't your weekly shows its a major PLE. I was always firmly against shoving people on Mania in huge multi-person matches for the same exact reason. No Mania ever was improved from the huge battle royals or 8+ person matches. They might be able to make that match fun...but its a detriment to the show as a whole.
7:27 The Rumble is in Pat’s hometown. Considering he’s the reason the Rumble, SummerSlam, and WrestleMania are coming to Indy, it’s highly likely he’d be in the Rumble
Joe Hendry will be the only one from TNA in the rumble, Orton is probably the only one from that group (no Black or Hardys), Brock returning - really hope not, same goes for Oldberg. So, there might be 14 or 15 slots available for the 27 or 29 'other guys'. But they've got to put Penta in there (maybe he gets in to the final 4 even?). Yep, make it 40 and use 2 rings!!
Realistically, at this point, Triple H just needs to put people in the Rumble that would realistically win. Jimmy and Dom are great, but no one is believing for a second they could win.
You want a 10 person rumble then? No one outside of Seth, Drew, Roman, Punk, Cena and maybe the Rock, KO, Jey and Randy are realistically main eventing Wrestlemania ahead of those guys. Not to mention the women's rumble, there'd probably be even less participants.
If they want to do a 40 or 50 Royal rumble match they should just have the men’s and women’s rumble matches and that’s it. No single matches. or maybe one single match in the middle of the 2 rumble matches
The main issue with that was how long it felt. Id love the idea of a 40 person rumble but then youd also have to have a 40 women rumble and just imagine how loooong it would take. It may even take away a match slot.
The rumble event is starting at 6 pm eastern time. Since the rumble has included a woman’s rumble in 2018, the event started at 7 pm from 18-21. Then from 22-24, it started at 8 pm eastern. As of now, there is only two non rumble matches happening. Last year was the only other time that happened. The other years have been 3 to 4 matches. And there was the time in 2019 that had 5 non rumble matches. So either they are adding a couple more matches, making both rumbles 40 men/women, doing long promos in between matches, or they are ending an hour or two earlier in the night than normal.
especially with roster sizes and the fact that the rumble might become a two night event maybe up it to 40 man again. the problem with the last one is the roster wasn’t as full. now its bigger than ever
This exact conversation is why I think they need to build stories for the rumble match. Have qualifying matches, have heels screw faces out of making it in, show us how the entrant numbers are selected. They used to do it like a lottery with wrestlers drawing numbers and that’s fine. However, I wish they would flesh out the rules a bit more and use those rules to build stories for the match itself. Hell, as an addition, if they would bring back the Survivor Series elimination tag match, let the winners have the last spots on the Rumble. As Larson says, add some STEAKS (stakes) to these matches.
This was an incredibly well done breakdown. I can't say I disagree with any of it, other than I'm sure Penta and Gable will be in. I also am fine with a 40 or even 50 person rumble. I'm not a fan of two rings, though. Was never a fan of War Games or World War 3. The camera work becomes too complicated, and they miss stuff.
I think its possible they have a handful of the "not very likely" wrestlers in the rumble IF they have someone they want to look really strong and get a lot of eliminations. If they have a returning Brock or want Drew or Randy or whoever to look like the big threat in the rumble then they would be fine letting them eliminate guys like Carlito, JD, Santos etc rather than the top weekly draws or surprise entrants.
I'm amazed they haven't tested the waters of a Tag Team Rumble (at least not recently). You could easily occupy 20 established, weekly TV guys in a ten team Rumble without using up entries in what is going to be a stacked mens Rumble.
Think about it: Cena story Rumble. Cena enters, then Orton, Gable. They aim Cena. "Medal" is heard again. Enters Kurt Angle, solving his lacklusterretirement. Screams to a beaten, fallen Cena "Where is your ruthless aggression now?" Angle Lock. Then "oooooo, Radio, tell me everything you know" Matt Cardona enters to save Cena,. It's a very plausible way to integrate him on a storyline. Plus, some more names to the rumble Logan Paul Rey Fenix
They need to add a Tag Titles match to Royal Rumble maybe DIY vs MCMG and two other teams in a triple threat or fatal 4 way tag. MCMG haven't been on a PLE I believe. And I'd say Kross is in since he's targeting Sami and Rollins
I'm thinking the tag title match will be slipped onto SNME considering it's only booked for 4 matches as of now. The Cody/KO contract signing could take up that slot of time, but I wouldn't be shocked if we got DIY vs Guns this Saturday.
Steve, thanks for the shout out a few episodes back for the Rumble Legend entry!!😂 You’re telling me you wouldn’t pop hard as would a lot of people in the back when that Dolph theme hits? That dude help build and made people look good for years. Or the fed could fuck it up and do the no music or tron gimmick Dolph😢😂
Every time you would do math and you would say oh so many spots left, that's a ton of spots left! I love the rumble! It's my favorite! I'm super excited to get to go this year for the first time ever! But I would never want to sit through a 40 or 50 man. Rumble! If the rumble is super stacked then it's going to be a good rumble. That's not a problem.
I honestly think that the only reason Brock has been mentioned on TV is because they're no longer following Vince's stupid rule of something not existing if it's not in WWE.
Then Big E is eliminated early and, a few minutes/men later, Kofi. Big E, still at ringside, catches Kofi, reminding his crazy Rumble saves. They stare. And Big E drops Kofi. Not powerbomb or anything, a simple drop, as Kofi was not worth his effort.
If the Rumble ever becomes a two day event -- then they can totally add 10, or maybe even more slots to fill the extra time they have on each day. Side note: Even a 40-man rumble probably won't be enough to fit all the talent they have on the shows atm (+potential surprises)
After the 18 which I agree with, I'll name the 12 left from those mentioned I want to be in the Rumble. - Joe Hendry - Nic Nemeth! - Oba Femi - Trick Williams - Penta!! - Kofi - Woods - Braun Strowman! - Gable - Miz - Karrion Kross - R-Truth
@@Samdav-fu2 Nah, you aren’t alone. Steve and Larson both said The more Rumble the better. Plus Me. I’m the one who keeps suggesting 50 people with two rings. Lol We seem to be the minority, but definitely not alone.
Nah that just makes the match go on for far too long. It doesn’t add anything to the rumble. It’s just 10 more names to cycle in and out. We all know it only really matters about 4-8 main event names. Adding more midcarders does nothing.
Logan Paul is a 4th part timer to add to the list. He's back next week. They should only put Pat McAfee in if Corey Graves is in also. That stuff lately feels like a shoot but might be a Rumble work. Final 4 spots ... R-Truth for sure, would love to see him and Cena get some time. Then pick 3 from Miz, Theory, Kofi, Gable.
This is why we have the BIG 5. Spread some of these big matches around. We can’t have 12 mega dream matches on one PLE. It’s okay to miss mania if it means you get to main event Rumble or summer slam down the road.
I know 2 rumbles in 3 hour shows is already enough. But they should have a qualification rumble for the outcasts. The winner of the mid card/jobber rumble gets a spot in the main rumble. That way 60 wrestlers get a match. The ultimate underdog story winning 2 rumbles in the same night.
Just because you can have more entrants, doesn't mean you should. The format already works and you can just make a bigger deal out of qualifying for the Rumble. For example, Survivor Series can be a brand warfare event and the winning side gets more places.
I feel like Steve Here wanted to do a third version of his Rumble entrants list, decided he couldn't do it because there's soooooo much talent that he concluded "It's that no good Triple H and his booking that's the problem!" 😂
I wouldn't be surprised if McAfee makes it in. The Rumble's at Lucas Oil Stadium, same stadium McAfee played out his career in. WWE's enjoyed utilizing those hometown ties as of late!
I think a lot of those additional picks (legends, returns, TNA cameos) won't happen, which will give more spots to the midcarders. Out of all of those, I only see Hendry, Trick, Ego Page 😅, maybe Orton (if he doesn't interfere in the ladder match), and to an extent, Goldberg.
Having too many talents to fill two 30 person Rumbles isn't a bad thing. What's nuts is that the male names that have been announced, which is about 1/3 of the Rumble participants, all have either a believable storyline to justify winning Rumble, or are just big enough stars to warrant a Rumble victory. If it weren't for SNME, I'd say that there would even be a case for Jey Uso. I'm fine with some names getting cut from the final 30's because it will make spots feel more prestigious, and I wouldn't hate if some people had to earn their spot in the Rumble, especially NXT talents.
there needs to be a 40 man rumble 100! 30 was fine when they were having camacho and hornswoggle take up spots but theres so much talent in NXT that can easily fill spots for the future in case of injury or anything. but man its crazy thinking any legend return or crossover takes away a spot from someone so deserving of time. even with the womens rumble too like theres 45-50 who could be in there
I loved that gimmick as a kid, but looking back on it, it's literally an unwatchable battle royal. Like, even with the split screens with the unnecessarily thick borders, it's completely impossible to keep up with.
I wouldn't want to exhaust the crowd with two 50-person Rumbles IMO I'd do 23 main eventer/upper mid card, 3 NXT, & 4 surprises Sprinkle the surprises throughout the rumble to keep the crowd engaged. Use the Rumble to map out storylines for the upper midcard
I was dead set on debunking a 24 man main event/upper midcard scene in modern day WWE, but depending if AJ makes it back in time to do Rumlbe or if Owens or Cody pops in after losing, then it's a distinct possibility to have 24 relatively high profile entrants. That's pretty nuts, especially considering the likes of Bronson Reed and AJ Styles are on the shelf.
You also forgot AOP, Seamus, Otis & Tozawa, The Generic Brothers (... um I meant The Creeds) and Pretty Deadly also if Pat makes it in then I can see Corey in as well. Side note: Zilla is a LONG shot but still has a shot.
this is a very good problem for wwe lol. their problem is we are too loaded with potential talent we cant fit everyone in this match. i remember in the early 2010s wwe was starving for real talent it was just like cena oton and punk with a bunch of mid carders and jobbers, now they have a ton of super stars thats great for them
I cant even count how many times ive stopped watching WWE for months at a time because im sick of people like Sami Zayn, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso being overhyped and taking up way too much tv time from people who are way more talented, charismatic and actually have personality.
I'd put people with highest skill and most over..can get most creative so that's sing along guys and people like jey and skilled people like penta and Melos
Maybe make the Rumble a 2 night event and have two Rumbles. Have night one be the lower card wrestlers and save what would of been the main Rumble for night two with the usual surprises etc for both the Men's and the Woman's. That way then the 20+ names that would of missed out of the main one and more NXT guys to be included and have the winner go for the US or Inter belts maybe ... Of course its a rough idea but has potential - Ronnie
Ok the guys in the thumbnail don't even belong in the Rumble except for maybe Chad Gable, just because he's done great character work before he became irrelevant again.
i just don't like the whole "declaring" gimmick. Cause why isn't every none world champion in WWE declaring for the 2 Rumble matches? Just Kayfabe it that the GMs got together and sent invites to 30 men and 30 women they believed qualify for the match.
Hate to disagree, buuuut I don't see any "Legends" or surprise entrants.....NXT & TNA included. Men's Rumble is too packed and I think WWE sees the Rumble as too big of a show for these entrants/moves. However the Woman's Rumble seems to be booked a bit more openly.....possibly due to smaller roster but NXT, TNA, Lengends, really any surprise entrants will be shoe horned in there. Both should be really good, I just don't see "surprise" entrants in the Men's Rumble. Much love from a friendo in Canada!
The only thing that justifies Andrade being in the Rumble is a Penta staredown spot. Maybe if Black comes back also a little nod to NXT Black and Gold fans.
Let's at least have some sort of 1-2 month long way of deciding who's in the rumble instead of arbitrary declarations and surprises, your favorite mid carder may not make the rumble but will get a couple spotlight matches trying to qualify 🤷🏾♂️
Hot take PLEs/PPVs should only be title matches AEW has enough belts to have their 5 hour shows and for WWE it would make the titles mean more to be only defended on PPV
I think while he may take things careful on the road to mania, I think punk would like to wrestle more in tv, I think it’s a combo of trying to keep him fit and make him that Roman type draw that typically only wrestles at the ple’s
Oh dang I forgot about Penta and Gable! Two more to squeeze in! #50ManRumble
I think with all the stars and cameos they have they could actually pull off a 50 man rumble and make it good.
U forgot about Logan Paul too
@ everybody forgets about Logan Paul lol
@ I actively try to exclude him from my mind in any and every way
Gable isn't important to a good rumble as he isn't even remotely plausible as a winner this year

Its an opportunity actually to do qualifications for rumble. Gives good mid carders more tv time and possibly create more stories
You're not wrong ...but _every_ year they waste at least one spot (maybe two) on a joke entry and yeah. 😒
Exactly. I don’t need spots for ppl who clearly are not going to win

Bro, not enough room in the Rumble AND Wrestlemania. Some big names will be left off the Mania card this year.
This is why we have the BIG 5. Spread some of these big matches around. We can’t have 12 mega dream matches on one PLE. It’s okay to miss mania if it means you get to main event Rumble or summer slam down the road.
@@jamiek9780wm, royal rumble, SummerSlam and Survivor series. Which one is the 5th Big?
Booker T wasn’t in the Rumble last year
I know 2 rumbles in 3 hour shows is already enough. But they should have a qualification rumble for the outcasts. The winner of the mid card/jobber rumble gets a spot in the main rumble. That way 60 wrestlers get a match. The ultimate underdog story winning 2 rumbles in the same night.
7:01 here after Cardona’s returned to TNA… 👀👀
Just because you can have more entrants, doesn't mean you should. The format already works and you can just make a bigger deal out of qualifying for the Rumble. For example, Survivor Series can be a brand warfare event and the winning side gets more places.
I feel like Steve Here wanted to do a third version of his Rumble entrants list, decided he couldn't do it because there's soooooo much talent that he concluded "It's that no good Triple H and his booking that's the problem!" 😂
Andrade's been back in WWE for a year?!!!! Holy crap!
Booker was in 2023 rumble not 24. After he said that was his last match 💔
Isn’t he coming back for a Zilla Fatu match tho??
I wouldn't be surprised if McAfee makes it in. The Rumble's at Lucas Oil Stadium, same stadium McAfee played out his career in. WWE's enjoyed utilizing those hometown ties as of late!
30 is perfect
The fact you are on TV does not mean you need to get a rumble spot. Do qualification matches
The only Hardy I NEED in the Rumble is Jeff coming out to "No More Words." IMAGINE THE POP IF THAT SONG STARTS PLAYING
I rather like that version, but I think the majority of fans just know the regular Hardy Boys theme
30 was fine when they were having camacho and hornswoggle take up spots but theres so much talent in NXT that can easily fill spots for the future in case of injury or anything. but man its crazy thinking any legend return or crossover takes away a spot from someone so deserving of time. even with the womens rumble too like theres 45-50 who could be in there
Steve Here suggesting we bring back WCW World War 3. XD
I loved that gimmick as a kid, but looking back on it, it's literally an unwatchable battle royal. Like, even with the split screens with the unnecessarily thick borders, it's completely impossible to keep up with.
Karrion Kross would deffo be in my Rumble, make him an absolute weapon, and get a few eliminations. WWE needs to pull that trigger on him sometime.
I wouldn't want to exhaust the crowd with two 50-person Rumbles IMO
I'd do 23 main eventer/upper mid card, 3 NXT, & 4 surprises
Sprinkle the surprises throughout the rumble to keep the crowd engaged.
They need to bring back RR match qualification matches for like at least 14-16 participants
Moose deserves a royal rumble appearance
I'd put people with highest skill and most over..can get most creative so that's sing along guys and people like jey and skilled people like penta and Melos
He didn’t say Penta, he’s definitely gonna be in. Along with Gable
My brother in Christ it is my pinned comment 🤣🙏😉
Wouldn't be the first time Nic did multiple entrances and it went well last time
It was at bad blood Goldberg and gunther
Yeah that one
Is this the first rumble in a while that has no definitive clear predicted winner?
13:03 Ego Page 😂😂😂😂😂
Steve, why isn't CSUN known as Northridge State? Dig the shirt
Cena or Punk should win the Rumble, no one else should be even remotely considered
What about big e?
Max to max we can see 1 debut and 1-2 returns that's all.
We should not be expecting much as the roster is way more stacked for a 30 men match.
You forgot Logan Paul
I would love to see Wade Barrett in there as a surprise this year!
2026 royal rumble 2 nights each rumble main events. 40 participants
We just need to expand to 40 or 50 men.
I literally came to this conclusion yesterday - if the roster's gonna be this stacked the rumble needs to be expanded to 40+ in the coming years
You couldn't see Zach Ryder when he WAS in the WWE, so to say you couldn't se Matt in a match doesn't say much
Let’s not pretend if they’d made it a 50 man rumble to fit everyone in accounts like this wouldn’t have done videos moaning about that.
Much love from a friendo in Canada!
if josh alexander gets to keep his theme, the pop will be huge!
I don’t need spots for ppl who are clearly not going to win. 30 man is fine. Cut the fluff. No filler entries
I can see Randy Orrin winning the Rumble
