Thank you so much! I followed your instructions, washed the diaphragm washer thoroughly and problem solved! Saved a visit from a costly plumber! You’re a lifesaver!
I did it myself so quiclky and as easy as that according video instructions and my toilet is not wasting water anymore and I've nearly spent a lot of money for calling a plumber to replace a diaphragm washer. Thank you. Gregory
Thank you so much for this video. The plumber wanted me to buy the whole thing and it was because of this video I saved a lot of money and fitted the part myself. Thank you 😅
Howsit! Thank you so much! My cistern was filling up in an endless loop. Just had to clean some limescale off of the rubber washer and it’s working as new! Taking the cap off was tricky but with a bit of careful upward force from behind while keeping the red lever down it came off like a charm!
Hi thanks for the great video. Getting the cap off was a bit difficult. Took a few minutes. That's the hardest part lol. After that changed washer and all sorted. Builders express stocks these diaphragm washer. Paid about R55(31 dec 2021). Thanks mate.
Helpful video. My toilet would not stop filling the cistern, so I opened up the mechanism, re seated the diaphragm It's quiet now. We get a lot of water cuts in Harare and the dirt brings in a lot of debri I guess.
The screw thread on a brand new filler valve is easy to come off but once it's been in service for years and needs replacing the limescale welds it shut. Love to see you twist mine off with "no tools"!
This video makes taking off the grey cap so easy but of boy it's not. Been struggling to get it off for a while and I'm afraid i might end up damaging the whole mechanism Update: i ended up damaging the retaining nut. For those who may come across this, make sure the red part covered by the cap is tilted to a somewhat 45 degree angel downwards. This should prevent the retaining nut from breaking. Also when taking off the cap make sure to pull from behind
Would you advise the filosophy of work of the diaphragm valve closure, because I did what you advise in your video, with no success. The valve still does not clos
If you battle to get the grey cap off boiling, water will loosen the cap off ....1.7 liters once off pour over cold water....take off red pin first helps alot ...I kaked to get the grey cap off and floater if it comes off make sure it boyant otherwise water won't close
How do you know your diaphragm washer must be replaced? My toilet doesn't want to stop filling. I fixed it but then it started doing the same soon after that
I checked the condition of the diaphragm washer, and it looked fine. Not broken, or perished, even the small washer in the red arm was fine. Yet the water continues to flow into the toilet. What else could be the issue?
Otherwise, it was a simple job barring 1 hour to get the cap and value off again. I had to use boiling water to loosen x 2, and only Ghent did it. it came loose and kept at it 👍
Hi, thank you very much, your tutorial helped me a lot and toilet is now fine 🙂

Thank you so much it was helpful, especially to get the cap off without breaking it.
thank you very much, succesfully replaced the rubber valve and the toilet is back to spick and span working condition.
Thank you. I was worried about getting the cap off without breaking it but I see now you have to be quite forceful
😅 Same here. But once you get the hang of it it works brilliantly.
Thank you! Very helpful! The most difficult thing was to remove the cover - you need to "twist and pull" with considerable effort ))
That nut on mine was a bit tight. Had to use a wrench, but got it done in the end. If not for the video I would not have known how to get the cap off.

Thank you - good video my man
"Bending it forward, and twist, and pull" (@0,46) does not work.
@richardanthonyclarke5255 - I will try the 1.7 litres (electric kettle) boiling water trick - ie pouring the boiling water on the cover-cap.

Cannot get that cap off no matter what I do. Had to put the house on the market in the end.

I pry the cover from the bottom with a screwdriver - a dirty hack, but it helped me

Anyone have a case where the “pin” is nowhere to be found? Water just keeps running even with new washer…
How do you know when you need to replace the washer?
When the the JoyFill inlet valve is no longer stopping water from dripping into the cistern.

Awe my masekind duidelik!
What is the cap for? Why can't you just leave the cap off. Save you so much hassle the next time you need to take it off.
Leave it off. It doesn't serve any mechanical purpose.
The cap prevents the water from splashing into your face😊
My toilet wasting a lot of water cause the valve does't clos i have to change joint waterstop
Thank you my toilet is no longer leaking
Man, thank you so much. American's has different mechanism, was not helpful at all.
