@@macmost when you use Zoom and choose Splitscreen and have it at the top of the screen, and then move the mouse down the screen goes down with it, that's what i meant thank you for replying :)
I use this feature ALL the time ! ( Like a million times a day!) I have set to use Control + Mouse scroll with full screen zoom to be the most useful and easiest to use.
Thanks again Gary! Coincidently I will be picking up my replacement Magic Mouse today. It's so much easier to do that and lots of stuff on that kind of a mouse than a corded one....at least for me. I was on the fence about getting a new Magic Mouse, because the first one was under warranty and they replaced it because it wouldn't charge and this one I somehow bent the connectors inside the mouse so that replacement wouldn't charge anymore. I'm absorbing the cost today, but feel it's worth it. I love the Magic mouse, but the downside is you can't charge it while using it. Im mentioned all that, because it is much harder to zoom and use other apps with a corded mouse and I love to zoom! You reminded me of that! LOL.
49macman I agree. The old Magic Mouse with the rechargeable Sony batteries that you could swap out was better as you could easily keep on working without having to pause for hours waiting for the mouse to recharge
As always the best - Can you do similar tutorials for iPad OS? Please there are no proper channels for iPad OS as of now ( at least not as good as you)
A very useful video tutorial today! I have a question please, is this zoom feature for written word only? As always thanks for the visuals! Thank you, Gary! 👍👏🏻❤️
Thanks Gary! Definitely a useful feature and one I didn't really know much about. But now that I do I'm going to have to do a little thinking about how/when to use it! Guess that's today homework assignment! )))
is it possible to zoom in a on a website screen (ex. facebook page) with completely zooming in the entire screen? like, Only zooming in the screen of the website, but still being able to see the tabs at the top and other parts of the screen outside the website.
Thanks again. I didn't know I had this feature because I don't want to upgrade from Mohave, but actually I do have it! Without your video I would not have known. So once I turn it on, do I have to go back to accessibility to turn it off or is there a quicker way to do that? I guess I can use the menu feature to get back to the option but is that the only way? I am not sure what picture in picture actually does. I have to go thru the video piece by piece-- too much information for me to comprehend at one time!!
A 2017 iMac 27-inch should have two Thunderbolt 3 ports. Use these as Mini DisplayPort and get a Mini DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort (or regular DisplayPort if that is what your display uses) cable. No adapter needed at all. Just a simple cable.
Very useful. What I was looking for; is there a way to make a shortcut automation to start and end the zoom with a mouse click (I know about ctrl cmd 8 but I need to access it from a distance where I can't always reach my keyboard) in exactly my style, location and size?
That's a big question. What kind of game? What sort of development background and experience do you have? What do you plan to do with the game? Explain your situation...
Accessibility screen zoom is for the whole system, not per app. Other zoom features would be very per-app and whether the app remembers your setting depends on the app itself.
@@macmost normally when you reduce the resolution everything gets bigger, but im already at the lowest resolution but everything is still too small for me. thanks for your reply.
Pages etc have a control to change the viewing size of the document. How can the size of the viewed print be changed in Mail when composing a document? I cannot find anything that will change the view and on my screen the text is so small to see that half the time I am guessing what I have written!
If the text is too small, try increasing the font. You don't want to send "too small" text anyway. There are settings in Mail, Preferences for font sizes too. Also, if that is too small to read, then you are probably having trouble elsewhere on your Mac too. So maybe think about adjusting your resolution in System Preferences, Display.
Do you know of any Total Screen Magnification Apps for iMacs in 2023? Zoomtext for Macs has been discontinued. This Zoom feature from Apple isn't good enough for low vision users. Does Apple offer any option to keep the entire screen magnified at all times without holding down any keyboard buttons? Many people with disabilities cannot hold down commands on their keyboards and move a magnifying rectangle around. They have to be able to see a target before moving to it to read it. My family member is both motor impaired and low vision, but has to concentrate on reading the screen, versus looking at his hand to hold down the keyboard keys, so he can do his calculus homework.
I personally prefer the trackpad method. It seems to be much faster and more versatile. Use the "control" key and two fingers on the trackpad, and you're good to go. . I have it set to zoom both of my monitors at the same time. There are many ways to configure this. I also have two figures swipe on the trackpad enabled to scroll up and down with or without the zoom feature engaged. Thanks for the tutorial
I usually use command+ or command- to enlarge the whole screen, but some of these options which I had no idea I had, but do, may make some small print in some places easier. I just have to get in the habit of remembering these options are there!
Can someone please help me I've enabled the focus when typing and the zoom is on full screen and when I type on Google docs and it go's of screen when I'm typing it doesn't follow how can I fix this?
@macmostvideo yea I did and the video is super helpful but when follow focus is enabled when typing, when I'm typing on Google docs while zoomed in to see what I'm typing and the typing go's or screen, I have to manually move the track pad to zee where I'm writing. So the focus follow won't follow when I'm typing on Google docs I'm not sure this males sense cos it's hard to explain
Thanks so much! As someone who has to take off and put on reading glasses to see some text on the screen this zoom feature is a tremendous help.
Experimentating (after guidance from MacMost) is the key to progress.
Hey this info is very cool for new mac user... 🤘🏼
I’ve used the Zoom function a lot. I have very poor vision and it helps. But I haven’t tried the options you described but will now. Thanks.
🤯 This will be one of my favorite power user features, especially the Ctrl+Option shortcut!
Thank you, that was helpful!
I really like the picture-in-picture zoom-in feature! I had no idea that there were various zoom features in Apple. Thank you!
I don't have a mac but I sent a link of this video to a friend who does. I hope this helps her. Thanks
is there a way to make it not drag the window down when moving the mouse down, when using split screen zoom?

I just tried this and found that it works in a video too. That is just fantastic. Thanks for the tip.
This would be very useful for doing presentations to put an additional focus on where the presenter is moving the mouse pointer.

Hi Gary, would you please look into how to access spaces on the remote computer in screen sharing? I can't seem to find a solution.
What are you trying? There are the keyboard shortcuts, the trackpad gestures, and you can always launch the "Mission Control.app"

I'm not aware of any setting for that.
Thanks bunches for these old eyes

Hi, I use the track pad to pinch and drag to zoom in and out. Is there a way to pan or move beyond the border of the screen after zooming in?
Not sure what you mean. There would be nothing past the border of the screen, so why?

Which app? What type of document? Of course screen zoom enlarges the pixels so you will lose quality as you gain size.
