    Don't get mad... get salty 🧂
    Why do we have signs? Lane markings? Traffic lights? Parking spaces?
    Apparently, if you're entitled enough, you can ignore all of these things.
    Police in Seattle have been pretty much neutered from being able to enforce traffic laws. And boy, do people take advantage of this.
    When nobody says or does anything, common courtesy goes out the window. "I do whatever I want! Who cares if I'm in someone's way?"
    My mission is to buck that trend. If you're going to be careless and inconsiderate on the road, I want to know WHY you think it's ok.
    Maybe I'll teach a few people some things; after all, if nobody told you, how are you supposed to know?
    But doubling-down on one's entitled behavior is, sadly, the standard expectation. Which I find to be quite entertaining 😆

    The Jeep compass stopped next to the parked car at 1:25, and turned their car off at 1:49. It took 24 seconds to park their car. But this Altima simply can't be bothered to take out roughly 2 minutes to find a spot, and park? God forbid they walk!

      God forbid!! It's the fact that drivers don't even try that gets me salty. I've been doing rideshare and food delivery for years, and I always do my best to find a place to park that's out of the way! And it's really not that difficult 🤔

    hey at 8:10 i know that sometimes theres emergency calls so for example EMT may get a call for a person who is having trouble breathing and its a priority so as the call comes in through dispatch they may stop to listen where its located so they can make the turn or go straight ect... that would most likely be their case maybe they had a 911 call and was trying to listen for the direction then they went straight hence doing through the red light. just a thought. love your videos

      Bryan did some digging and explained what was happening over police radio at the time. Makes sense, it's just confusing and looks hypocritical to the general public when they do things like that.

    So many “Push the I can park anywhere button “ in Seattle 🤣 great upload thanks , like the humor touch of yours 👍 watched a couple of your ancient videos and I note these goddamn scooters are as an annoyance as in major France cities out there, think they can do whatever they want behind that “green label commute” such as the terrible use of a bike where traffic rules end to apply mysteriously to the owner!

    • @SaltySeattleCyclist
      @SaltySeattleCyclist  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeaahhh they're literally everywhere, making a mess of our streets!! I don't honestly expect it to work out perfectly every time, because there are definitely times and circumstances that don't allow drivers to heed the rules well. But that doesn't mean they shouldn't try! THAT'S what gets me, is when I see drivers just blatantly not caring because they know they can get away with it 🤦

    so 8:38 if i got the date correct of July 5th at about 6pm they had a suicidal male on Alaskan way so that is why the cop had his lights on is that he was most likely headed to that area to assist and when he stopped at the green light he was most likely checking call notes on his laptop/CAD and letting dispatch know he was enroute

    Nice episode as usual, people still like parking in the middle of travel lanes I see.
    2:07 I'd say, some thumbnail material right here. 😄
    3:25 I'm being educated here. I might misread something like this in the heat of a moment but this video helps me look ahead to such a scenario. Not that I'm making this out to be an extremely difficult intersection. 😄
    8:00 For lack of us being out of the loop on the circumstances, I'll just keep the joking lighthearted. I'd find it funny if they police cruiser pulled up to a barista (coffee time!).
    11:20 If it had bike pedals installed, would it be accepted as a bike? I kid of course.

    Yay top 51 and top 64 likes and comments. Idk why it never occurred to me even though i had seen the signs and "knew" the rules about not riding your bike on the sidewalk but a while back I would ride my bike on the sidewalk from my mom's work to the library and nobody ever yelled at me. I should've done better, but where I live is pretty rural so the sidewalks at least weren't, and still aren't, super crowded, or even a tiny bit crowded, so nobody was at risk of being hit by a cyclist. Still, at least now I know I wouldn't do it going forward . . . Once I get into better shape.

    • @SaltySeattleCyclist
      @SaltySeattleCyclist  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Eh, sidewalk biking in rural areas is far less of a big deal. Beyond following your local laws, just use your best judgment with the infrastructure and people around you! In a city though, 100% sidewalks are for pedestrians only.

    • @realityraptortv770

      @@SaltySeattleCyclist exactly! And tbh I see this argument with cyclists everywhere! Them not realizing that one of the. are talking city biking. And the other rural.biking. It 100% is the SPD West Precinct. Yet the block around them is probably one of the most common source of blatantly illegal parking/stopping you'll see anywhere. I've seen a PEO confront somebody for blocking the bike lane there on 8th and Lenora exactly ONCE. Great example they're setting 🙄

    ...Come to think of it, how do you get the dashcam to pick up your voice so well? I have the exact same model, and recorded a commentary bit for my other channel on it the other day, but I can _barely_ hear my own voice over the road noises (and I was talking loud like I'm talking on speakerphone, too) 🤔

      Really??? That's super intriguing, I honestly have no idea what the difference might be. Do you think your car might let in more road noise? I do have quite a boomy voice, it's....gotten me in trouble with roommates and nearby sleeping people many times 😅 The dashboard cover I've been using certainly helps the audio come in more clean and crisp, in addition to cutting down the windshield glare!

      So I went and did some research and listened to the archived broadcast for that day and time and actually they were most likely headed to the suicidal male on Alaskan Way and at the momment on the video it wasn't a call that required a code 3 response and or they hadn't been attached by dispatch yet but were headed to the area to assist if needed and when they stopped at the second set of lights they were most likely attached thus the delayed response to the green light while checking CAD to look at the call details

      Regardless of the car learning, if your vehicle is impeding traffic, expect people to honk. There's no way for me to know, as an outside driver, what's going on that's causing a car in front of me to drive too slowly. So, I'll usually honk and see if I get a reaction. It probably would be best for a car in learning mode to put the hazard flashers on to indicate to other drivers that the car's driving is disabled to some extent, so to speak.
