Sparring in Thailand is very different to how they spar in many other parts of the world, they actually dont spar hard because they believe light sparring is more beneficial towards learning the technique.

i love the jumping teep. I recently adopted using jumping teep and jumping round kicks. they are very underutilized. beautiful work here

it's common in Thailand to make that sound in training, and in fights the crowd make it
You are supposed to push the air out of your lungs with every punch, kick, rep or even when defending the punches or kicks to tighten the defense of your body. This is what is even more greater when you scream or shout words. But remember the greater you shout the greater you weaken after=you have to be in a good shape for shouting through all the fight, it caries much more of the air out of your lungs then just breathing out..

Must have been an amazing seminar...perfect atmosphere... That's why I like thai fighters. They are amazing fighters but still polite and modest. They show a lot of respect to other (European,American,Asian) fighters even they are on a very different level than they are.
Wow such amazing reflexes, he makes it looks so easy! This is the result of years of training and sparring day in day out.
Its not fair! how in the hell the partner can defend himself when he can't see the kicks in camo. lol
Saenchai is for Muay Thai what Tiger Woods is for Golfing, Michael Schumacher is for Formula 1, Muhammad Ali is for Boxing and Ronaldo is for soccer. It's like one man made the next step on the evolutionary ladder.

Also westerners forget that in Thailand muay thai is like soccer in brazil every little kid plays for fun with their families. Cousins brothers sisters all sit around and kick each other lightly. When thais train its playful and No one should feel
embarrassed at their skill level. Muay Thai isn't just for tough guys its for everyone.

Saenchai is too good. This is probably equal to Micheal Jordan playing pick up 1 on 1 with some amateur level guys. It's amazing how good the best of the best really are. also click on 7:08 for my favorite part in this video!
Looks to me like he's having a bit of fun with the best fighter he'll ever get the chance to have a friendly spar with.

@thuglifeftp well you re right for the wanting to test your skills part but i guess he's fighting like this to save face and protect the others from overcommiting. Also it's the thai way to spar judging from other sparring vids of his. Don't forget that he's the instructor in the ring so he should give the pace and keep it light. Look at the funny mohawk guy; what if saenchai would spar with the same intentions?! (which is to land clean hits)

all of these guys take sparring way to seriously in my opinion. if saenchai wasn't as pure as he is, he would've wailed on them a lot worse.

idk why u show so much hate towards the guy, i see nothing wrong i think he's just try harding the spar but i consider that to be a normal impulse if u want to push yourself and be good at something, other then that i see him smiling and i don't see any signs of disrespect towards saenchai...

Yes, probably. Thais, even though most of them are around 50-65 kg, they still sparr with 18 oz or 20 z. If you want to hurt somebody, do it during the fight, not training.
BTW, Saenchai is fucking awesome.

Yea, It's K1 rules. I think Van Damme is just in it for publicity. He's filming a new show called The Tower that will include some of his training for the fight. Personally, I think it's suicide. Van Damme's got skills, but you don't walk away from the sport for 10 + years, and come back to fight an all time great like Somrak for your first fight back. Hopefully Somrak doesn't kill him.

To all of you who think Saenchai is showing off and purposely humiliating his opponents, you don't know what you're talking about. When I spar with my trainer, who is way more experienced than me, he does the same things, and he has trained with Saenchai before. It's still a challenge to fight him but I have fun at the same time. Same with the guys in this video, they're laughing along too, even though they know he can kick their asses if he wants to.

He's got about 5 different kicks he uses....very easy to read. And I don't think I saw him kick with his right leg very much, if at all.
