@@TheRedHawk I wonder if you could have taken Indian mercenaries, as the unit models are always based on their origin and elephants tend to appear over infantry.
No, Hannibal did cross the Alps around where you crossed, he was coming from Gaul ^^ In fact he did quite a trip too, from Tunis, to Spain, then southern France, then finally the Alpes and Italy XD
"Baden" means swimming/bathing in German. So to maximise the swimming opportunities i suggest getting a province bordering every ocean/sea in the world (so pacific, atlantic, arabian, black, carribean etc.) and ferrying a unit on a cog out there to take a bath in every sea that exists without dying. Of course while going full naval/maritime as a nation that starts landlocked and is a solid 500 km away from the nearest ocean!
Haven't seen anyone else talking about it so: 19:55 Lithuania has a province in Hungary, do they also have a Union over Poland. AI is really going for that Uncommmonwealth.
@@TheRedHawk finally, after 5 months! 5 x 26 is like 130, so like almost 11 years(assuming all letters have the same amount of unique nations which most likely they don't)
I'm going to keep suggesting it during A->Z, but maybe Baden will be the best opportunity for it. Gotta do one with no DLC. Goal will be just to do whatever you would normally do in EU4, but it's just the base game.
to be a bit nitpicky: hannibal wasn't defeated in italy but at the gates of carthage. their senate refused to send supplies and called him back so he could face one scipio who would gain the name africanus by beating hannibal with his own best troops: numidian cavalrymen. dude got real unlucky at the end
One of my favourite A to Z's because you made the ending so different than others! Not only did you walk that horse from your homeland to Italy, that was a great piece story-telling while you did it. Absolutely love your creativity and new take on A to Z's! Edit: I will, however, say this - don't overburden yourself with ridiculous challenges since you'll end up spending way too much time on each, and that means a good chunk of your life gone. Recently, I'm starting to see a pattern where you go for something "fun" instead of "challenging", and I think it's better that way!
I can now definitely picture an Asian calling himself Hannibal on a horse, which he paint grey and glued two branches to mimic an elephant's tusks, walking into Rome... Thanks for this cursed image! Can't wait for a Tunisian Attila!
Once, I tried to play as Ayutthaya. I had the feeling of making cursed stuff so I converted to Animism then No-CB'd a small Manchu nation, vassalized it switched to Tengrism. I didn't continue the game.
Might wanna write this down because it's going to be months from now, but when you get to Mulhouse, you could try for the achievement to fully decentralized the HRE.
I think it's the tech group that you have horse-cavalries. Elephant-cavalries are only an Indian-tech thing, and AYU is Chinese-tech. Vassalize an Indian-tech nation and recruit from its land would probably give elephant-cavalries? not sure tho... (this makes no sense Paradox, a Chinese-tech Thai nation recruiting Samurai cavalries?)
I am literally laughing out loud right now. Is it just me, or are your A-Z videos getting better every video? Idk about the horse thingy, maybe you would have to culture shift or form a different nation or something in India to get elephants. But, anyway, loved it! :p
Once I was playing England, focused a lot on colonazing after I defeated france and I when I looked back at Europe (1600s or so) it was in chaos, Byzantium still had its original borders, Ottomans were an Asian superpower, they had Mamluks and Arabia, bit in Europe they lost some provinces in Greece to Spain, expanded a bit in Moldova and had a Crimean vassal. Bohemia held most of Austria, parts of Brandenburg and Poland and Nassau was the emperor, Novgorod held most of Russia and I think the only reason they didn't form Russia is because Commonwealth held some neccessary provinces. In Italy, Naples formed Two Sicillies, while Venice comtrolled most of northern Italy. Also somebody(probably Wolgast or Stetin) formed Pomerani and Lübeck had taken most of Denmark.
Just imagine some 16th century peasant in the swiss alps looking out of his window one morning watching a trail of Ayutthayan elephants walk by. "What on earth are you doing here?" "Well we heard some dude did this some two thousand or so years ago and you Europeans still talking about him so we came to see what all the fuzz is about!"
