  • The tour of Mont Blanc (TMB) is one of the world's most iconic walks, and one that we had thought about walking for a few years. It is a circular walk of 167km, with over 8000m of ascent and descent, taking approximately between 10 and 14days. The route passes through seven valleys around the Mont-Blanc massif, passing through the Countries of France, Italy and Switzerland. On this occasion our daughter Laura walked with us too. We all loved this walk, with its fantastic views, great signage, accommodation all the way and quite a few people to meet. I would really recommend it, however, as it is a tough challenge, one needs to be fairly fit to complete it, together with having experience of mountain weather.
BUT CAN YOU DO IT ? - THIS VIDEO WILL HELP TO GIVE YOU THE ANSWERS.

Thank you for answering questions about dormitories etc. I do wish Barbara chimed in more in the first 11 min. But happy she finally did after 11 min. Good information. Smart idea offering this sit down time answering questions. I'm 61 and have my physical challenges but plan to hike this next July 2024. I feel the hut life is roughing it like we should next to tenting. Hope i get some sleep with the snorers.

Thanks, Barbara does like talking normally. The dormitories for the most part were good for us. My advice is to book early for the refuges as demand has gone through the roof since covid finished. Not just the TMB but also most of the other "signature" hikes are way more popular than before. Anyway good luck in June 2024. Its a superb hike - one of the best 😊

Regarding your comments on camping, I camped everywhere I could. Camping is allowed but not in Switzerland.

    Hi
When you say this walk is not for you if you don't like bunks, isn't camping an option?
Did you see anyone walking with dogs?

    • @hikingwithdaveandbarbara8629
      @hikingwithdaveandbarbara8629  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Alan. Out the 9 nights we had 6 night in bunks which was fine and 3 night in twin private rooms. On the camping side, there were a few sites especially in the valleys but in high mountains we just did not see any.
Just been looking on the net and found this site which has camp sites on it that might help you
      tmbtent.com/guide-camping-tour-mont-blanc/#ten
On the dog front, I can honestly say we did not see any.
The hike is amazing however you do it with or without a dog
      Cheers Dave and Barbara

At a few of the refuges we did see camping, but not all. Everyone we met was staying in the huts. It may be worth checking out though. good luck. Cheers Dave and Barbara

1 Cost: tent or cabbane? 40 to 80 Euro /day for 7 to 10 days
2 Timescales: July / August / Mid September
3 How hard is it: it easy not easy - many days more than 1000 m hiking up for 7 to 10 days ( bring poles with you)
4 Services: hotels? (refuges or tent) and food (bread and cheese every day)
5 Hike specifics: your feets are your friends - good shoes and care for feet every day!
6 prepare for hot weather, cold weather and rainy weather
7 plan your hike (high route or low route)
