- Letcombe Regis is the perfect destination for those looking to explore and discover the historic village of Letcombe Regis.
Letcombe Regis is prettily situated at the foot of the Berkshire downs, though part of the township extends over the ridge and a mile down the southern slope.
The village was first recorded as 'Regis' in the reign of Richard II, but long before it had been a Royal manor of the kings of Wessex.
The centre of the village is dominated by St Andrew's church which stands on a mound near where the two streams meet. Parts of the church date from about the 12th century. The Church is a Grade II* listed building. This means it has been recognised as having exceptional architectural and historic importance, and requires special protection from any alterations or developments.

Letcombe Regis is a very charming village and my favorite of any I have seen. I love it for its beauty and especially for the layout of the places for walking and resting. It's lovely and really fun. An enchanting village!!.

Hi Kevin : ). Well, I've read all the comments (that were in English ...multi-lingual I am not ). I cannot add anything to all that's been said in these comments but I did find this village more like a small 'city' where I am. There seemed to be more and larger homes , apartments? I don't know if that's a thing in your neck of the world. What a dream it would be to sleep hearing that brook or stream bubbling! I had that once and was so spoiled. As one person mentioned, the shop is just a postcard perfect spot and I see it has a cafe as well 🥰. I think this walk showed a very eclectic area in this amazing place you call home! Thank you💞~~~Jo

The Village Shop was enchanting!
I like the walking rhythm of the camera . I was able to locate SaintAndrews church on a satellite map and follow “our” progress as we walked around the church, down Maine street, past the Greyhound Inn and on until you faded into a different location by Letcombe Brooke. Then I couldn’t find the orientation until I saw a street addy.

I wonder what these roofs are made of? It reminds me of the buildings in Asterix.
They are thatched roofs and are generally made from one of three types of materials; either water reed, combed wheat reed or straw.
