West Overton is rich in history and charm, making it a perfect destination for nature lovers and history enthusiasts.
St John’s Church: Built in 1877-8, this beautiful church is a cornerstone of the village’s heritage.
Walk with me to discover the village's Bronze Age, Roman, and later historical settlements.
There were 37 poll-tax payers recorded in West Overton in 1377 and the population in 1801 was 172 residents.
Many 18th-century roads and lanes were still visible as tracks in 1977.
Overton Manor House: A stunning 16th and 17th-century manor house near the church, featuring a tile-hung upper floor and a red brick former barn.
Much of the village was rebuilt in the 1870s with gabled cottages designed by the renowned architect Mr. Ponting, who lived in nearby Lockeridge.

Looked like some gorgeous red peonies by Church Hill Cottage at the beginning of the video. What a beautiful tower on that St. Michaels and All Angels church! That's a beautiful church. Such a beautiful house behind that church. Looked like they were rethatching over the previous thatched roof on that one house. I absolutely love those old red telephone booths and they have been reused so well! And a very well-maintained book library. Such a serene beautiful village like all the villages we get to join you on your Sunday walks. Thank you so much Kevin... I look forward to next Sunday!

Indeed, ... 136 years have passed since the day of its opening, in such detail .... with a tea party..... And, looking at the walls, the stone,.... they are untouched by time, yet .... What a terrible thing to do to the trees in the churchyard. Why is that such a common practice over there? Trees used to be 'topped' here in the US until they realized that it just makes for very weak, small branches. Other than that...beautiful village again ❤🇬🇧
