I’ve worked with large concert venues for over a decade, and I’m really glad this is being talked about. When we were recalled back to work in 2021, everything felt different. Audiences are meaner, ticket prices are higher, and the shows themselves usually don’t justify the price. Something has to give.

Worst concert for me was 2022 when I was bullied out of my seats by some really drunk chick and her posse and not because they wanted better seats. They were trying to sucker a friend into moving to Saskatchewan so they could build them a house nothing more. Just an excuse to pressure friends into a bad business deal.. All in the middle of COVID in a place where out of 10,000 people? I was one of 3 people in masks... And not because I love them or are paranoid. I have a terminal illness and it leaves me immune compromised... Needless to say I am pretty much done with crowded or stupid venues after that... Private box seats or I don't go now....

The pandemic and post Covid 19 changed the attitude between men and women. Concerts are crazy and many times are not worth it and dating is harder as well. It's like finding a needle in a haystack when it comes to love. Everything has changed, for the worst? Yeah, I think so. "You will know once the cop pulls you over"(Author Unknown, USA, 2022).

I saw The Dan Band (Old School movie), so a ton of the audience only knew the 2 songs from the movie. So for the ENTIRE CONCERT, they talked at normal volume, to the point where you couldn’t hear the band. People were pissed, and the band was pissed. And this was in 2009? And in Houston. I’ve lived here almost my entire life, and the majority of Houston audiences are just… disrespectful and shitty.

@@TheKaiTetleyyep… I went to see them in 2016 and I knew it was going to be my only time. I paid the $220 for pit and had a great time.
The venue was so undersold, all 300 level got upgraded to 200 and 100 level that night. Stadiums outside over crowded festivals usually are the worse experiences.
Most shows I’ve seen in the last 5-10 years that were worth it. We’re in 2000 capacity theater venues, and some did 2-3 nights. I’d much rather go to a theater with 3 sold out shows back to back, than do a one night arena. I wouldn’t buy a nosebleed unless it was $30 at this point. It feels like to have any good experience in an arena, gotta buy the pit tickets.
My biggest issue is the GA pit for most venues has turned into seating….with that they have 10 new tiers of pricing vs GA one price. For some of these rock bands who is sitting, unless they are in balcony anyway?

The death of concerts is because of greed. An artist i watched live before they blew up, had front row seats for $50. Recently he came back to my hometown and they were playing at the same venue. For nostalgias sake I wanted to buy the same front row seat and the ticket was $380. I can afford it, I've been blessed with the opportunity to run my own successful business but I related to this artist because we we both home grown poor snotty kids. He let greed take over and now I don't really support his music. Bummed out I decided to see what other concerts would happen in my area and prices for people who get less that 100k monthly listeners were asking $120 as entree fee to clubs or venues. Some people are insane. I ended up going to a nightclub hosting a cosplay night and it was honestly super fun.

I've been going to rock concerts recently and it's always been an amazing night, the instruments sound better live, you can see the talent, energy is insane and the performance is electrifying. It actually adds something to the experience of sitting at home with the music on. Plus tickets are usually a lot cheaper since they're less mainstream.

Local production stagehand here. It’s mainly production costs, insane venue fees, and high ticket prices make alot of consumers hesitant to purchase. But mainly production costs and logistics. These shows cost ALOT OF MONEY to put on. The gear alone can make or break a show not even counting paying the 100+ man crew that HAVE to get paid either which way. It’s an entire concoction of problems, pretty hard to pin point a specific cause.

Every time I want to see an artist, I have to book a $200+ hotel/airbnb, buy the $80+ ticket, and drive to see 3 hours of openers and 1 hour of whoever I bought tix for. I’ve even driven 2.5 hours to a Lana Del Ray concert on a THURSDAY and then drive back home to go to sleep at 2am. I’m just a bigger fan of festivals. Its a market correction which is happening in all areas of the economy. McDonalds charging 20 bucks for a double quarter pounder meal made people avoid McD.
Prices keep going up and it hits a breaking point. When people are struggling to pay rent, they arent paying 500 dollars to see some artist lip sync/autotune their way through their best hits.

Its because nobody wants to spend 200 bucks seeing some mid rapper walk around the stage lip syncing, or only saying half of their lyrics. Who cares? The problem is with rap and pop music. People still pack out venues for legit bands that consist of actual musicians playing actual music

As a veteran NYC teacher, I’m impressed with your ability to deep-dive….meticulously comb through the details….and arrive with a conclusion. Yes, my analysis sounds like something every TH-camr does….but that’s untrue. Regarding this recent live concert fiasco: many TH-camrs focus simply on the economy…the artist…and just rant.
But, you’ve shared information I was totally unaware of.
Yes, AEG was the monster that put Michael Jackson on the hook …for his final “This is It” tour. And we’ve all been aware of the TICKETMASTER foolery, since the early 1990’s. LIVE NATION was a name which popped-up-constantly-for 10 years. But, I didn’t know all 3 formed a power-hungry conglomerate/Leviathan, to drain the average citizen!! 😮
Furthermore, the monopoly of the venue owners (Oak Group) was also a revelation, for me. Good job!

As someone who sister is a upcoming artist ❤. Here are the top three problems I think
    .
    1. Ticket prices are too high
    2. Viral trending songs social media and high cell phone usage not living in the moment
    3. Same artist from 10 years ago no new artists on the radio.Radio stations are heavily dependent on all the big artist it's all the same we have new up-and-coming artist now who have even had a break yet.
