I was a host aka "maitre' d" for a fine dining restaurant...and this is ALL so true. The Chef was a Top Chef winner and she demanded the best of the best. Each guest spent about $75-120 and it was very normal for celebrity guests to come in and spend $500-$700 on a party of 4.
50$ is actually pretty cheap for fine dining.. BUT it all depends on the taste of the food and quality of ingredients for me. I hated the social etiquette classes in gastronomy school. (You've never expected there to be 40+ different varieties of potatoes and the variety you are using makes a huge diffenece in the taste and texture while eating.. also there are a huge different varieteies of salts and peppers.. You can't just use hawaiian black salt for every dish xD - I would mainly recommend this for thicker steak cuts like Chateaubriand since the smokey/ashy-lava flavor of the salt doesn't penetrate to deep into the meat then. there's also a difference between Pakistani Himalayan Pink Salt and Indian Himalayan Pink Salt because the indian one has a slight delicate sweet flavour to it) You can probably cook a 5 course fine dining menue for 4 people at around 80 - open ends bucks depending on where you live and what quality of ingredients you use. I general I prefer this type of eating since I often make it for myself at home or at every family meetings because of the huge variety of foods getting served (8-9 courses with probably 8 hours just cooking, preparartion of some ingredeients can take up to several weeks)... one of the easiest to cook and cheapest things I would put on a fine dining menu would be macadamia crusted seared halibut on top of shitakee/shimeji/Nameko/Matsutake + garlic/onion Fried rice and a sweet plum sauce with hibiscus flowers as eatable decorantion. This is something you can cook for yourself and friends for around 25-30 bucks. A trend I have realized is that a lot of more Southern East Asian and Japanese tastes made their way to the west since a lot of them use "UMAMI" (which means delicious in japanese and is a combination of all 5 senses of taste into one dish without loosing the ingredients original taste)
Pricing is all about charging what customers perceive to be good value. Businesses have to think about covering the costs of the meal, staff (both back and front of the house), as well as providing a great atmosphere and service to the customers. In an industry with low profit margins, it makes sense for fine dining restaurants to charge a premium price to deliver a premium product and service.
fine dining being expensive is a legend. fine dining is CHEAP. i’ve eaten in the world’s best restaurants (osteria francescana, noma, you name it) and you can get the most astonishing experience in the world for around 5/600€ each. a phone is over 1k, chinese made nikes are 250€, a gucci tee is 400€ and these things have NO VALUE, are not unforgettable exeperiences by the world’s best artisans. so, fine dining is DAMN CHEAP.
I do Noma, too. Not far from my neighborhood. And now also Alchemist and Geranium. Marchal , if lazy to go farther than city center :)) . Personally know the people behind them, as well. However , the diff between the dining experience and the things you've mentioned ie. phone, Nikes, Gucci tee, etc. is that the dining experience is done after a visit. The things can be used many times over. I enjoy the dining experience a few times a month on rotation. It does add up-- @ ca. DKK4-6k/ visit. Just putting things in perspective :) . Enjoy them all!
The deciding factor, for me, is who I'm dining with, if you're on a date and their a bore or jerk it can truly put a damper on the fine dining experience.
Guys, was it worth it? I am a foodie, but that place is kind of expensive for me. But I might actually try it at least once. Is it really worth 1000 USD?
Omair's Garage if you really love the best food preparers in a way you never see again yes. If you love the show of fine dining go for it. Plus you have the bragging rights of eating at a three star Michelin restaurant. We normally have a great dinner on a vacation and drop 250 to 300 once on the trip.
There are minor features. 1)Within reason they (not including chef selection one menu est) will make whatever a customer wants without a fuss.2)If there is a bill discrepancy it is handled discretly to the satisfaction of all parties- no public fuss- no police. Years ago I was friends with the Mgr of Tavern on the Green .He described how he handled those situations. [Note: surprise, Bill problems were not a common occurrence there 😊]
Thanks goodness you arrived, I thought that the narrator was hospitalized due to coronavirus infection Next video should be about farming..... Stay safe Alux 🙏
What separates fine-dining restaurants from other kinds of restaurants is the level of care the staff from fine dining establishments show towards the guests. Your food could be great, but if your service is poor, I’m out. Period.

Even low-star hotels use linen-cleaning services now. Nobody can be bothered to do their own washing! (Perhaps not all to the Best cleaners, but it all helps to take their Patrons to the cleaners..).
The food and wine paring. That the server guide’s you to. And a wonderful after dinner drink that compliment’s the dessert. It also should pair well. Like Taylor Fladgate 20 or 30Years Tawny Port. Will pair well with an Apple Tart with Carmel Sauce. ✨🥂✨🍽✨😊
Ahmad Adel ... Well, mine is. 😉 As I was clearly implying, good, fresh/raw food is actually quite cheap - I don’t need my food carved into a swan; just good quality ingredients, well-prepared - and good portions commensurate with my workouts!! 😊

There is some truth in this video - but also there are a lot of stereotypes. There can be so many different types of fine dining restaurants... and they come in as many variations. There is also nonsense: for example chefs in fine dining restaurants don't earn necessarily a lot (maybe the head chef or chef de cuisine - but often not even them) - this applies rather to celebrity restaurants. Also the interior is not always totally regal and designed. And designed and expensive interiors are not exclusive for fine dining restaurants. Time is also not a factor, because most of the time, there is no "official overtime" which needs to be paid.

I think fine dining is a five senses experience. Sight, smell, taste, touch and hearing all combined to give a rich experience!!
Very true. The experience is definitely worth it. I miss Kobe club 😫
You get to charge what you’re worth.
you pay for the entire experience not only the food on the plate ..... its like travelling the world, but gastronomically.
@John Smith nahh. better not eat street food. street foods is dirty and trash.
