I have seen lots of similarities between JWs and Mormons, and I realized that I've been lied to by Mormons all my life. I realized that I need to leave the church. I also learned that I have repressed my sexuality because of the Mormon Church. One day a plane came in far too low, failed to clear a new cement barrier, and ripped off its underbelly as it tried to touch down. I want to analyze something he said because I am a homosexual man and I once tried very hard not to be. The thing that sticks out to me is that he identifies a type of clothing with homosexuality this is something I did back when I was trying to be straight for God. The reality was I like seeing that and those feelings confused me they confuse me to the point where I actually convinced myself that I believed that clothing make you gay. It came to the point where I threw out clothing because it was a gay clothing and made me feel gay and made me think I was gay all sorts of things. This is commonly referred to in the Catholic church at least as negative purity I don't like the term because Purity is an absolute but I digress. When you look away from something that tempts you that's called negative. That's all it means. Seeing attractive men that dress and clothes that accentuate their attractive features arouses people who are attracted to men. If you feel that attraction is wrong you going to attack that style choice as homosexual because it makes you feel things you don't want to feel. It has been a hard recovery since I came out and I would say I'm not fully recovered from trying to be straight putting myself through all this as much as you aren't a hundred percent recovered from Jehovah's Witness I don't think I ever will be. All of this occurred during some very formative years for me and it's near impossible to break those reactions and fears that I once had. I'm willing to bet that this man obsessed with tight pants is absolutely homosexual. He likes to talk about it he likes to talk about homosexual Behavior between men it arouses him he just doesn't want to look like he likes it which is what I think a big part of religion really is.

I would definitely say not to try too hard for the same reason you wouldn't like your friend to pester you about joining. Your friendship alone does say there is hope though. (Those of us who were more extreme refused to have friends outside of the jws) I would also recommend time. I love this channel, and the points you make are very true, for me, I'm not very religious and my mom wanted me to be Christian but the wonders of the internet showed me how some can be very... extreme at times. I got pretty angry and said nothing for the whole day and never went back. I have seen lots of similarities between JWs and Mormons, and I realized that I've been lied to by Mormons all my life. I realized that I need to leave the church. I also learned that I have repressed my sexuality because of the Mormon Church. I just want to thank you Telltale for pulling the blindfold off of my eyes and showing me the truth between JWs and Mormons.
They tell you you're so different from every other church, that you are the only ones with the truth. They don't let you research other religions or see how it is anywhere else. I was JW, when I left I realised that we were very similar to many other churches from practises and beliefs to the loaded language!

@3:07 - When I was a small child, my family lived right next to the airport runway of a major airport. One day a plane came in far too low, failed to clear a new cement barrier, and ripped off its underbelly as it tried to touch down. This ripped open the gas tanks, sheared off the landing gear, & in the resulting crash/fire many people also died - burned to death. I had Jehovah's Witness friend in high school, and even though I was still religious at the time I still felt sad for her. We grew distant after I gave her a Birthday present.
I want to analyze something he said because I am a homosexual man and I once tried very hard not to be. The thing that sticks out to me is that he identifies a type of clothing with homosexuality this is something I did back when I was trying to be straight for God. The reality was I like seeing that and those feelings confused me they confuse me to the point where I actually convinced myself that I believed that clothing make you gay. It came to the point where I threw out clothing because it was a gay clothing and made me feel gay and made me think I was gay all sorts of things. This is commonly referred to in the Catholic church at least as negative purity I don't like the term because Purity is an absolute but I digress. When you look away from something that tempts you that's called negative. That's all it means. Seeing attractive men that dress and clothes that accentuate their attractive features arouses people who are attracted to men. If you feel that attraction is wrong you going to attack that style choice as homosexual because it makes you feel things you don't want to feel. It has been a hard recovery since I came out and I would say I'm not fully recovered from trying to be straight putting myself through all this as much as you aren't a hundred percent recovered from Jehovah's Witness I don't think I ever will be. All of this occurred during some very formative years for me and it's near impossible to break those reactions and fears that I once had. I'm willing to bet that this man obsessed with tight pants is absolutely homosexual. He likes to talk about it he likes to talk about homosexual Behavior between men it arouses him he just doesn't want to look like he likes it which is what I think a big part of religion really is.
it's just a simple fallacy of logic. it's not taking responsibility for your own feelings. "Oh no. It's not ME liking what I see and getting aroused by it, it's the clothing manipulating my brain into being aroused against it's will. Therefor the clothing is evil!"
Callie Myers Welbeck before I accepted who I was I convinced myself that there was a undercurrent or a cloak and dagger sort of conspiracy trying to make me gay. Just accept it you can't change all these things that people say which for me at least they're true I wasn't having any of it. I was 27 when I accepted it I feel for these people in the fifties and sixties that still are holding on to that hope they go through the binging and purging of a no clothing and pornography or just pictures I can't imagine living that way for more than a couple years it almost killed me.

LeDerp Zod it is a cult and sadly getting one to open their eyes and realize that they need to get out is not easy, especially if your friend was born and raised in the religion. Even if she realizes that things are wrong, if she is a baptized member, she will be shunned by all her jw relatives. That's something that is very difficult to cope with. You speaking with her about this might get her to break your friendship. But it is worth a try i suppose. Sorry that I do not have an actual answer on "how" to do it. Basically all you can do is explain what is wrong with this organization, bring proof and hope she listens... And then give her a lot of emotional support...

LeDerp Zod Nina is correct. It's very difficult for people who are completely in to see. I would definitely say not to try too hard for the same reason you wouldn't like your friend to pester you about joining. Your friendship alone does say there is hope though. (Those of us who were more extreme refused to have friends outside of the jws) I would also recommend time. Some people just need to find one little thing that sends them spiraling into thinking again.

Anyway, the JW showed up, asked me if I had any questions. I said, 'YES!" She looked surprised. I pointed out the JW's say only 144 are getting into heaven & it's been around for 100 years, so how does she have the gall to think that she would be getting into heaven. She ran crying down my runway, I screamed at her. "Wait! I have more questions!"
That was 20 years ago, last year I had another tract left in my fence, I noted that they had taken over purgatory & now allowed 144,000. Still doesn't really help. But they never came & answered my questions? I wonder why?
My old friend is a Jehovah's witness and I'm glad her parents were a little loose about the rules, along with her siblings. Honestly, her older sister was the chillest person and she was so nice. I just hope nothing bad has happened to them because of JW since then.

I love this channel, and the points you make are very true, for me, I'm not very religious and my mom wanted me to be Christian but the wonders of the internet showed me how some can be very... extreme at times.
It's pretty hilarious how religious people think like this, l use to go to a Christian Church and when there was the support for supporting LGBT community and when I kinda made an example of it, the lady shut me down on it. I got pretty angry and said nothing for the whole day and never went back. What's more hilarious is that when I went to an Anime Convention in downtown of my city, there was a small little group of church people protesting in front of the building and I'm like, "This has got to be a joke.." and my friend who isn't an extream Jehova's witness luckily, he told me that "Oh yeah, they kinda pretty much do this at times.." And I cracked up so hard and one of them almost harrassed me with the megaphone but soon got harrassed back by cosplayers with two guys who were wearing I think the anime show called Free?? Two of them grinding one another as a joke in front of them and me and my friend laughed and left, soon after that, the security of the convention and also cops told them to get off the property for the religious folks. Didn't see them the next day after that, and also I subscribed :3 :P

Knew a guy that I worked with for about three to four years. We worked together multiple times a week, and talked fairly often. He was kinda flamboyant, but didn't really come across as gay. Didn't know he was gay till shortly before he quit.

My boyfriend is a jehovah's witness and no matter what i told him about *donating* *blood* as something ain't good, he always said that he rather *die* *than* to let a *blood* *come* *into* *his* *veins* . HE ALSO TALKED about unsuccessful and how the doctors make mistakes during blood transfusion. I TOLD HIM THAT IT IS NOT TRUE AND EXPLAINED TO HIM IN EVERY LOGICAL WAY THAT DONATING BLOOD IS HELPING OTHER PEOPLE SURVIVED. I wanted to give up on him to be honest, it asnt because I dont love him but because of our different beliefs that we always fought of. I ASK HIM, "WHAT IF I HAVE SOME MALIGNANT DISEASE AND I need blood transfusion, would you allow me?", and he answered saying *he* *would* *rather* *let* *me* *-die-* because he know that we will still *be* *meeting* *in* *heaven* .
*THIS* *JUST* *DROP* *THE* *BOMB* . I know its bad for me but I didnt talk to him after that and he later apologized to me telling me that he ask millions of religion but no one can answer all his question more than Jehovah's Witness did. I just accept it but I pray that his belief won't interfere our life in the future.
