Looks like you keep buying cheap lasko fans or faulty ones. I have three. I've never had a problem with any of them. One of them is 3 years old. Still runs like it's brand new. You do occasionally have to clean it though. That's common sense. Also, a friend of mine and his wife have two or three lasko fans that are 5 years or older. So if you're finding them that are 20 bucks, they don't have a remote control. Anything like that. Don't buy them cuz they're probably put together Cheaply. Go out and buy the ones that are 50 bucks 40 to $50 because they last longer and they come with a remote

I think you used the wrong plug. The cord on those are not that thick, and they use a blue fused plug that's not three pronged. It's mainly the Air Kings by Lasko that uses a three pronged plug, though it's blue as well.

Eh, it's really only the cheap-ass Lasko fans that have these issues. Quality control can be spotty though. Their slightly more expensive products are actually decent for the price. I generally recommend people avoid this particular model of 16 inch Lasko pedestal fan, because of just how cheap and flimsy they are. The other 16 inch and 18 inch pedestal fans are alright.
