i just got this game, and the expansion, very recently and tried the first game with the basic stuff and first game rules. i'm excited to try the expansion stuff when i hopefully begin a campaign game with my wife soon, but i AM concerned about the mines module itself... mostly because i'm concerned about table space. the game already took up pretty much the whole table!
The spells are so much fun. The minions are interesting, I would have liked if they brought more pressure over time to deal with. The score comparison at the end is pretty dry and we found if each players specializes in skill or attack and sets up trade routes, the game becomes a breeze. Still worth it for everything else and it was fun to try it as a co-op.
