I remember listening to this song in 1985, when I was 24. I was on HMCS Iroquois as a young sailor. Today I turned 60. Now I’m on the flip side of this story listening to this version of it...
Nice cover of Neil Young. I don’t play guitar but am pretty spot on singing this song which is a pleasure to sing because of the softer melodic parts leading up to the epic emotional chorus where I can really let loose. Nice 👍 job.
As if I can love The Sheepdogs anymore than I already did... Then I stumble across this Cover! OMG... Its like perfect. Ya'll should serious record a album of covers for fun while your touring europe. I'd really like to hear songs you've been influenced by. Somethin' tells me I'd be hearin' some country and classic rock :)
How #$*&ing neurotic am I to have to not watch the video - but listen to it - due to the bare feet? (ans: VERY) Beautifully played/sung - the baritone-forward vocal gave it a new/interesting perspective. What a beautiful song - Neil is a treasure.

[Intro]
Old man, look at my life
I'm a lot like you were
Old man, look at my life
I'm a lot like you were
[Verse 1]
Old man, look at my life
Twenty-four, and there's so much more
Live alone in a paradise
That makes me think of two
Love lost, such a cost
Give me things that don't get lost
Like a coin that won't get tossed
Rolling home to you
[Chorus]
Old man, take a look at my life
I'm a lot like you
I need someone to love me
The whole day through
Ah, one look in my eyes
And you can tell that's true
[Verse 2]
Lullabies, look in your eyes
Run around the same old town
Doesn't mean that much to me
To mean that much to you
I've been first and last
Look at how the time goes past
But I'm all alone at last
Rolling home to you
[Chorus]
Old man, take a look at my life
I'm a lot like you
I need someone to love me
The whole day through
Ah, one look in my eyes
And you can tell that's true
[Outro]
Old man, look at my life
I'm a lot like you were
Old man, look at my life
I'm a lot like you were
well done
Neil Young doesn’t get enough recognition these days
Honestly, I like this cover more than the original. I just wish it had a pedal steel guitar like Neil Young's rendition.
Agree I always hated Neil Young's voice!!
You should definitely record tonights show at Massey for all of us to see
good heavens
Harmonies sound great, boys!
🔥
Do you think you'll play this cover at your upcoming concerts? It's great!
Probably sounded awesome in the room.
ficou demais galera.
The guy with red beards seemed to have the most feeling on it, and also looks like me! Respect!
Why hasn't Sheepdogs covered Lighthouse already? Wow man
Nice jamming
